Don’t get me wrong I have TONS too blog about. That’s the blessing and the curse of a "talker". I love to talk therefore I love to blog. It’s just the way I’m wired. What I meant by "What to Blog About?" is sort of the opposite. I have so much swimming in my head that I’m not sure what to share and in some cases, if I should share.

Let me start with the food journal stuff as you may have noticed I started counting points again. No I’m not trying to LOSE weight I just need to check in with myself. I want to take a step back and see how many points I was averaging on a daily bases.

I’m not sure how long I’ll do it but we are in holiday season people and you know how easy it is too "give up" and "wait till new years" or "start after Thanksgiving" or whatever other irrational "I’ll start on tomorrow" mentality that we come up with. Everyday is a new day where we can take the time to make a healthier decision. It’s as simple as that.

So let’s see.. What else? There’s been so much going on and even though I’m busier then I’ve ever been, I’m happy. Really happy.

Things are moving with the FitBloggin’ Conference. I wish I had more time to work on it but I’m doing what I can when I can and that’s just gonna have to be good enough.

My job is going great! I’m having fun working on the SpeakHealth project and teaching everyone about blogging and social media. Sometimes I suffer from a confidence issue when it comes to my skill set and frankly, my new job is giving me a big confidence boost. I’m working. I’m working hard. But I love every minute of it and I’m good at what I do and I swear that helps me feel happy and content. I’m sure some psychologist out there could have a field day with me.

The new house REALLY feels like home now. Why? cause it’s nice and messy. I’m only joking… or am I? ;~P The husband finished the garage last weekend which was really the last "room" that needed organizing since the move.

I’m also doing better on the workout front! Got a run in this morning and I’ve come to the conclusion that I must workout in the morning. My current schedule just has me so exhausted by the end of the day and I value my family time after work too much to do it then. Am I gonna wake up everyday and get an hour workout in? Never. I’m gonna take it slow and try to get a run in 2 days a week and maybe a gym session on the weekends. Again with the attitude of do what I can when I can.

OK, finally the news I’m not sure I should share but I will. Vaguely, but I will. ;~) Does anyone remember this is ancient video? Geesh! I looked like a baby back then! I really aged in the last year and half! Anyway… there’s a question back then I was asked that I may be reconsidering my answer to. Just reconsidering and that’s all your’ getting on that subject. Thank you very much!

OK, I’m off. I need a snack (hence the scoops below) and I want to get a good night sleep. That’s another area I’m working on. :)

And no, I’m not talking about food. Actually, if I really think about the more I add to my “plate” the less I actually eat or I should say the easier it is to stay on plan.

Let me explain.

I always use the expression, “Off my plate” when referring to tasks/errands I need to get done. As in, “I’ll send out that email now and get it off my plate”. It’s just the way I work, I try not to procrastinate. I used the expression so much that at my last job it became my catch phrase and the other faculty members would always make fun of me. :~)

What’s on my plate right now? Well, besides the normal mom/wife duties…

I still have about 200 old posts to fix on the new site. Plus other small tweaks.

I have an ongoing project I’m working on with Johns Hopkins that requires 2 days in office a week.

My dog trainer client needs some help.

WeightView wants me to do some more work for them.

I NEED to find time to work on the cookbook. The design is done but now I have to gather the recipes and start putting together all the content.

I have a new blog project I really want to start for a new client.

I have a full inbox of questions and comments I really want to respond to.

Plus I want to continue to post here and work on food ideas for GreenLiteBites.

phew writing it all out made me more tired then actually doing everything! BUT for me, staying busy and having fun with the family is what it’s all about! I just feel happier and more in control when I have a ‘full plate’ of activities and goals. What’s that old saying about idle hands? ;~)

Right now? Well now? I’m going to enjoy a little ice cream and a watch some TV with the husband.

It’s all about balance, right?

OH! and I recorded a video tonight and it there was a little mishap, I’ll post it tomorrow on GreenLiteBites.

It’s amazing what a little distraction does for me. I had my first day at a client site for a new project I have. It’s a long term deal and (you’re going to think I’m crazy) but I’m looking forward to the 2-3 days in an office. I never really realized how much “work” suits me. Not teaching but project work. I like solving problems and being creative and that’s what I’m allowed to do on web projects (and boy this one is a doozy!)

So the toddler had a day at camp and I had a day in the office. I started my morning with a filling breakfast (Grapenuts and berries), brought a few snacks (pineapple and Kashi bar) and hit a salad bar for lunch (added some protein with tuna and chick peas). Dinner, well, I was just NOT in the mood. Me, not in the mood to cook. SEE it happens! ;~) So we got Chinese and I enjoyed my steamed chicken with veggies, and split a spring roll order with the toddler. For dessert some fruit and a little bit of ice cream, again, split with the toddler. Then I took my own advice and the family went out for a post dinner walk. I couldn’t go too far, I’m still quite sore and VERY swollen but it felt good to get moving.

After the toddler went to bed, I recorded a (not very) quick video answering some questions. It’s long, it’s sappy and it’s shaky but I’ll post it anyway. You can decide not to watch it. ;~P

All in all, though, a great day! I just cannot wait to get real active again! Never in my life, NEVER, would Imagine in my wildest dream that I would MISS the gym as much as I do. I mean really, I’m craving a workout.

OH! and I drank 128oz of water! It didn’t help much with the swelling though. :~(

As you may know, the recent change in my employment status has interrupted my routine and one of the things that is suffering is my water intake. Instead of equipping myself with a large water bottle and brining it to work or having a case of water in the office, I’m home all day juggling toddler, client projects, my sites, my house and the array of everyday chores that seems to never end.

You would think that by being home everything would be more accessible and I’d more apt to drinking my 8 glasses, but it’s not the case. My routine is so out of whack sometimes I don’t even realize I haven’t had a drop to drink until lunch.

So I set out to do what I do, look for motivation online, find a link or an article that would kick me in the arse and post it for me and, coincidently you!

Well, what I found surprised the crap out of me!

…drinking “lots” of water apparently is a waste of time (and money if you’re a fan of bottled water) unless you’re an athlete or live in a hot climate. Water may be more essential to life than oil, but tanking up doesn’t necessarily curb hunger pangs, reduce headaches, improve skin tone or keep organs healthy by flushing out toxins, the University of Pennsylvania researchers said in an editorial in a medical journal.

That was from an article entitled Those urban water stories are all wet, doctors say.

"Hmmmmmmm Interesting" she says, reaching for her recently poured ice cold glass of water.

In the same sweep of sites I find this 9 Great Reasons to Drink Water, and How to Form the Water Habit.

In-ter-es-ting, very interesting.

Now, I realize one is a blog post and one is a published article but still, it cracks me UP that no one agrees on this topic.

I don’t know who’s right and frankly, I don’t care. Here’s what I observe about myself, learned from experience and my overall thoughts on water…

Water does not help you lose weigh in and of itself. If this was the case I would never have had a weight problem to begin with. I have always drank hordes of water. At my heaviest, friends would laugh at me at restaurants because I’d be on my 3 tumbler of water before we even placed out order. This obsessive drinking did not prevent the mozzarella sticks, bacon cheeseburger and chili fries from attaching themselves to my ass. Now, this is not to say it doesn’t help you feel full or stop you from munching when you’re thirsty, not hungry. I’m just saying water is NOT a weight loss miracle drug.

I love water, and I feel better when I do drink it and stay hydrated. Right now, I’m trying to catch up on my water consumption today. I didn’t drink as much as I normally do and now my lips are dry and I feel, well, blah.

Water helps me not retain water. I know, I know sounds counter productive but being the swollen retaining water queen that I am. When I don’t drink water my body holds on tight to the water it has, big time. It may sounds strange but I feel thinner and less bloated when I’m on the water bandwagon.

Water is/should be the go to drink for everyone. I never really understood peoples obsession over drinking soda with dinner or having fruit punch at a BBQ. To me, these things are habits that can be broken. Water really is the only drink we need, isn’t it? I don’t know about you, but I only have but so many calories I can eat in a day and I’m not wasting any on miscellaneous drinks when I could just drink water. Now, as always I will contradict myself, I do enjoy some tea, chocolate milk, wine or beer occasionally but I consider these treats not “go to” beverages when I’m thirsty.

Ok, this is becoming long enough. I set out to inspire myself to start drinking more water and now I’m off on a tangent. Push me off the soapbox, please, and join me in a toast to water with water!

I feel like I’ve been all over the map this week, still trying to find that routine I so desperately need. I’m getting closer (or maybe I’m just getting more used to the chaos.)

I wrapped up one of my first clients this week as a business owner! I redesigned and coded a site for a Maryland dog trainer. She couldn’t be happier with the site and it made me feel so good to do something I REALLY love while making someone else happy AND getting paid for it! Nothing is more satisfying. Well, maybe except seeing a loss on the scale when I’m trying to lose! ;~P

BlogToLose hit over 500 members this week!! I can’t believe how fast it’s growing. We are still ironing out all the kinks but it’s really what I had imagine, a place where people can find the support they want and need to change their eating habits and live a healthier life. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I don’t think I would be as successful as I am keeping the weight off if it wasn’t for this blog and I really wanted to create a place where people could easily find the same support I get every day. Why did I build it? Well, it’s not easy to 1.) create a blog and then 2. ) get people to read it and comment but when a community of people get together it much easier to find the support. I HOPE it is working well for everyone.

I forgot to mention I weighed in again this Wed. I love the fact that I can now go to Weight Watchers and see my favorite leader on Wednesdays. So when my schedule allows I will always be updating my weight progress Wednesdays (I haven’t figured out an easy way to do the graphs yet but the table data is correct). To my surprise I was actually down .4 this week even with my Memorial day food blowout!

I’m gearing up for my first 5K run this Sunday! I pick up my race pack tomorrow and I’m SUPER nervous! I haven’t been feeling well and it seems that every time I run I get cramps now. I don’t know what’s up with that so if anyone has any advice, I’m all ears. Especially on how to prepare for the run in the next 2 days.

I felt real good about my eating this week and I even posted a couple of food journals. I’ve been home making (most) of my own meals and I love having the flexibility to whip something up mid day instead of being stuck with what I brought to work.

And Finally, I have a meeting next week with a friend who is going to help with… *dun dun DUN* … ya ready? MY COOKBOOK! Yes ladies and gentleman I’m taking the leap. I’m tired of getting the question in my inbox so the answer is YES! I’m working on it. :~D I’m thinking of putting together a “favorites” from GreenLiteBites with pictures and all so stay tuned for updates on that!

OK, this has turned into the longest post ever. I’m off to take the toddler to the Zoo. Then hopefully he’ll nap and I can get some work done and then it’s off to the gym for a date with my trainer friend. I don’t mean to rub it in, but man this working at home this is the best! It’s a lot to juggle but I’m LOVING the extra time with the toddler!

Here’s to a great weekend!

Oh crap! I did have one more thing. I have an appointment with my plastic surgeon tomorrow so stay tuned for an update on that. I know i haven’t mentioned it in awhile (the last time was WAY back on August) well I’ve actually met with the doctor a few times since then and tomorrow I have my last appointment. I’ll fill you all in tomorrow.

Yesterday was great! I’m starting to get into a groove working from home, although I haven’t ironed out all the kinks yet. It takes a lot of discipline to create a routine and stick to it but without that routine I’m doomed!

Today I’m spending the morning with the toddler, we’ll hit the gym, then a Weight Watchers meeting, home for some work (toddler nap) and then I have to figure out what’s for dinner.

The older I get the more I don’t like to sacrifice the things I do for myself. That includes making a healthy meal, working out, spending quality time with the toddler and posting to this blog. Those 4 things are not negotiable no matter how busy I am. I did all 4 today.

However, something does have to give so I can’t catch everyone up tonight after posting my new produce pick and dinner idea. They took everything out of me. I’m also super behind on email, comments and the community. Please bear with me while I get used to my new schedule.
