How long has it been?!? Geesh! I miss the question of the "When ever I have time." ;~)

This one is totally inspired by my new house. I’ve never hid the fact that I’m a night time snacker. While losing weight I’d routinely save up points to enjoy popcorn and ice cream in the evening. I even eat within an hour of going to bed. All this snacking always happened, yup, you guessed it, on the couch in front of the TV.

When we moved from old to new house we saw the evidence of all the snacking. Let’s just say allowing a 4 year old to eat on the couch is not a very good idea. We found entire uneaten granola bars along with M&M’s, goldfish, swedish fish, popcorn and more crumbs then I’d like to mention.

All this led to the husband and I agreeing on a "no eating in the new living room" rule. We’ve always tried that rule in the past but to be honest, I was always the first to break it.

Well no more. I’m done. There will be no eating in this living room. Ever. So far so good. I’m already starting to get used to it. If I want a snack I have to stop what I’m doing and go into the kitchen to eat it. Novel idea, huh?

So I’m curious. Do you have a "No eating in the living room" rule? If not, have you considered it? If so, do you think it helps curb night time calorie consumption?

Just curious as I see this helping me and my nighttime snacking habit immensely.

I’m a nighttime snacker. It’s a habit. I enjoy it. I don’t want to give it up. I routinely eat something between 11 and midnight daily. I always have, even while losing. Generally I keep the snacks light. Fruit, Popcorn, light ice cream treats, soy crisps and salsa or crackers with some laughing cow cheese.

However, recently I’ve been overly snacking. Indulging. Do I dare say bingeing? Last night it was a half a gallon of ice cream. The night before I actually broke into a bag of chocolate chips. And the husbands Swedish fish have been slowly disappearing.

I’ve been in a rut. It happens. I know this. BUT I can’t let it continue or snowball into weeks or months. That’s when you get yourself into trouble.

Instead of grabbing something mindlessly tonight I decided to make an effort and look for something to cure the snack attack for maximum flavor and minimal points.

As I write this I’m eating a Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTop with a glass of light vanilla almond milk. Talk about flavor! I’ve got all my bases covered…. chocolate… peanut butter…. vanilla… and almond. Seriously, all of my favorite flavors! And the best part…. all for 3 points! :)

I’m new to almond milk. I picked some up today for the first time and am pleasantly surprised how good it is. Trying new things as been a big part of my success and every time I get into a rut like I’ve been, discovering a new healthy snack helps me out of it. It reminds me that there are so many healthy ‘lite’ options out there that are so much better then bingeing my way through a bag of semi-sweet chocolate mini chips. I just need to take the time and look for them. :)

Just so you know…

8oz light vanilla almond milk is approx. 70 calories with 2.5g of fat (2 wwp)

Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTop 100 calories, 1.5g of fat, 6g of fiber (1 wwp)

Both eaten together slowly while blogging and watching TV is a very satisfying snack! :)

I’m feeling much better today. The toddler and I had an eventful morning running errands. I got a good workout in. We went to the library. Had lunch together and took naps! Besides a little back pain I’m feeling good. Oh! and we have a showing tomorrow! Someone is coming to look at the house (cross your fingers for me!)

Here’s my food journal from today. Proud of myself for not eating lunch out when I was so hungry BUT I did break into the meringues from Trader Joe’s (which, by the way, I’ll be adding a few more things to my Trader Joe’s shopping list soon!)

And what a AWESOME idea! I’m totally looking forward to your tips and advice on night time snacking as it is definitely my down fall.

When I was in "losing mode" I accounted for night time snacking by saving points through out the day. If I didn’t do that, I don’t think I would have been successful. I guess you can say I embraced my late night snacking by not avoiding it.

So I’m REALLY curious of your answers. Especially considering right now I’m about ready to hit the pantry!

We’ve been talking a lot about starting slow and making small changes to combat the overwhelming feelings of changing your lifestyle. So this weeks question is simple…

What one thing can you do this week to live a healthier life and help you reach your weight loss goals?

And yes I want you to commit to this one thing starting today, a Wednesday. Not Sunday, not Monday, but the moment you read this your “week” begins.

Me? Well starting today, NO MORE NIGHT TIME SNACKING! It’s KILLING ME! ;~) And I’m not talking denying myself something when I’m hungry. I’m talking about the ‘mindless eating because it’s there’ snacking. The ‘grab a handful of whatever the husband is having’ snacking and worst of all the ‘eating to stay awake’ snacking. I’m committing to stopping the nighttime habit this week.

How about you? What one thing will you do?
