A few months ago I reviewed Choice Ramen Noodles. I was ecstatic to find a healthier alternative to an old college favorite. I used them to experiment with quick meals like my Quick Ramen Noodle Lunch, Quick Ramen Noodle Lunch II and Ramen Chili. They were a fun pantry item to keep on hand for a fast filling meal in a hurry.

Well I just found out they are discontinuing the product line. Someone sent me an email letting me know and I wrote the company to verify.

This makes me sad and angry!

I know there’s a bottom line. I realize these companies need to make money but did they even try? Did they educate their consumers about the benefits of the healthier noodle? Do they care?

For God’s sake, It took me months, maybe even years to find them and I’m always hunting things down. Do you really mean to tell me if you had a choice you’d pick the deep fried option over the lighter choice? The one with less sodium, less calories and more fiber? How is this the right move for the company? Why don’t they pull the crap unhealthy $hit and replace it with the better option? No one says convenience foods can’t at least try to be a bit healthier. It’s not an all or nothing thing, people. Do we not see the problem with this?!? Don’t they want to make a healthier product?!?

Come ON people! (I’m not yelling at you, just venting) Don’t take the healthier options away!

If you agree with me and want to see this product stick around I suggest letting them know. I already sent an email. You now what response I was given when I asked if the the rumor about them pulling the product.

"Unfortunately, it is."

That was it. No explanation. Nothing. That ticked me off too. Here I am thanking them for an awesome product, going out of my way to advertise it for them because I think it’s a good option and all I get it 3 little words?

jerks.

Sorry, I’m in a weird mood tonight. I’m not sure why, I had a good day. I’m off to work on the question of the week and to possibly have a snack.

First the run, only for the pure fact that I’m ecstatic about it and I just ran (no pun intended) out of time last night to tell you all!

WOW! I mean, I signed up for the relay knowing that I’d have to run 6 miles but I never really thought of actually running it and now that I accomplished 5, I KNOW I can do 6. I’m getting much more confident!

Oh! and it’s official, I’m running the first leg of the Marathon. I’m so excited! I’ll get to start with the crowd and just feel that adrenaline rush! I’ve already decided that I’m setting a half marathon goal next year. I’m telling you this running thing is addictive. It’s hard to start but once you do, watch out! I can NOT stress how much I used to HATE it. For me, it’s definitely the feeling I get after a good run that gets me to start in the first place. It’s hard to start and really hard not to stop once you get going but nothing beats the feeling of reaching the goal you set when you started, whether that goal is 1 mile or 5, the feeling of finishing is the best feeling in the world and it makes starting all that much easier.

Ok, enough of my running tangent. :~)

I’m also excited that iTunes FINALLY fixed my feed and search issue. You can now click here to launch iTunes AND search for me (try just Roni-There aren’t that many of us ;~) Also notice I added the link again to the right. I’m going to leave that up for a bit and then put it in rotation with my other ads. So the link will always be available up there.

There *should* be no more issues with the feed. If you left me a review on my old iTunes page please consider reposting it on the new one. I lost all reviews and there is/was no way to recover them. :~(

On the food front this weekend, yesterday was a bit of an overeating fiasco for the pure fact that I let myself get too hungry and then nothing satisfied me all day. Plus the house was chock full of goodies because I went shopping after that run on an empty stomach. (BAD IDEA!) ;~)

I did however go nuts on the recipe front this weekend, trying an oatmeal muffin idea and making my first chili of the season! And this morning the toddler and I had a bit of a produce adventure with a prickly pear.

Tonight it’s all about boot camp and the return of TV! I’ll be watching CSI Miami because I just can’t accept the fact that Horacio (may be) dead. :~)

Oh! One more thing. Are you guys getting any pop up ads on my site? Please let me know if you are because they are NOT suppose to be happening. I do not support pops at all and I will be on BlogHer’s case about it.

I’ll be back with a quick menu tonight. Hope you are having a great day!

Let me start with the confession as I want to get it out of the way. *sigh* After I posted last night I stayed up and ATE COOKIES! Gosh Darn these cookies. It’s like I have no willpower around them. It’s not that big of a deal. I just needed to get it off my chest. There are only a few left and I’m leaving them for the husband and then we WON’T be buying them again any time soon!

Tonight I warded off the cookie craving by making some Quick Chocolate Kettle Corn. I got a LOT more bite for my chocolate buck with that!

As for the updates, if you didn’t notice I changed my header image and tag line. I wanted to express my journey from wanting to be skinny to wanting to be healthy and I think my new statement says that. Well of course it does, because it actually does say it… One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Healthy.

I also edited my About Page. It needed to represent me more and I think it does now. I realized my old message was geared more towards people who may already know me and have been reading for some time.

I also added ANOTHER pizza idea on GreenLiteBites and edited my Food Photos page to display 100 images at a time. It makes it much easier to find old ideas (for me anyway.) :~)

…and going to bed early. Unfortunately, that means a quick point post.

I made a HUMANUNGOUS Stuffed zucchini and brought it to work. Everyone seemed to like it (unless they were being polite) ;~P But I have to admit, it was fun to cook for so many people. Especially people who aren’t like the husband. Translation… people who appreciate food other then Cheeseburgers, Mac & Cheese and chips.

I went a bit overboard on the cookies tonight. I totally ate 3 because there were 3 in the package. I know, I KNOW bad reasoning but seriously, who can leave one cookie in the package? Ok, ok, I should be able to! I know but man they are so freakin’ good. There are only a few things I have a hard time with in the house and these cookies are one of them.

Tomorrow I’ll be making homemade zucchini bread (also tested by co-workers), I think the recipe is ready for prime time so stay tuned to GreenLiteBites for that tomorrow!

I’ll also be pulling out the camera tomorrow for a few video sessions.

Still working on the podcast. Apple is dragging their feet and it’s totally out of my hands until I hear back from them. I’m sorry. :~(

The winners get $250 and as much as I’d like to do something self-less with the cash, if I win, I’m TOTALLY hitting the spa. So I guess you can consider this a “Send Roni to the Day Spa” contest. ;~)

I’m not going to lie, I NEED it. I just totally missed a lunch date that I wrote on the wrong day in my calendar, my house is in shambles, I have a meeting in 2 hours in the city that I’m not even showered for, I’m starving, have 3 posts swimming in my head that I need to get on paper, the toddler has soccer tonight, I have boot camp, and my muscles are sore from all these workouts. All I want to say is…

How funny this that?! LOL I remember those commercials and my mom saying that ALL the time when I was a kid.

Last year I tried the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Flavored VitaBrownie and they soon became my favorite Vitalicious product, until now! Recently I got a chance to try the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate VitaTop and I like it even better! I mean they taste identical but the size and shape of the VitaTop is nicer, especially when you pull them out of the freezer. They defrost fast and (I can’t believe I’m going to admit this) even taste good frozen. That’s right, I’ve eaten them frozen and so has the toddler. ;~) They also have a better shape to top with a scoop of your favorite lite ice cream!

If you remember I announced a few months ago that I had a Vitalicious store front. Vitalicious and I have been talking about a few promotions and I’m really excited about our new relationship. We are working on a “Roni’s Favorites” sample pack, a contest and I got them to agree to a Roni’s Weigh promotion code! So if you plan on buying any Vitalicious products please use the code RonisWeigh, you’ll get 10% off and be supporting my sites at the same time! Vitalicious will also be launching a new blog soon and asked me to supply some videos! How cool is that? :~)

I’m super excited about this. Vitalicious and I have had an informal relationship for a while. They’ve sent me samples to try and even used some of my ideas in newsletters but this is more “official” and I feel like my blog is growing up in a way. Plus I really like their products! :~)

I had a movie moment in the car today. It’s been awhile since I posted a journal entry. I’ve been busy, traveled to my moms, had some technical problems and my GreenLiteBites ideas tend to take up my posting time lately. Plus you know, I’m a mom, have clients, a husband and a house to tend. So the first thing that I end up taking of my to do list is a journal post when I get back logged.

Anyway, I was thinking what I would post about and what my title would be. Yes, I actually TRY to be clever although I rarely succeed. So last night when I was going to attempt to post but got too tired, the words So Much to Say popped into my head. You know, the song by Dave Matthew’s Band. I thought I’d use it as my post tittle. Then when I went to write the post I found I didn’t have really anything to say at all. Well, I did have stuff to say but I didn’t know how to say it. This “bloggers” block happens to me sometimes. So I decided to walk away and wait until I was inspired.

Well on my way home from the gym this morning don’t I hear So Much to Say on the radio. It made me laugh out loud, like the blog gods where trying to tell me something.

So here I am, posting with so much to say!

Labour Day weekend was a food fiasco! I had SO much fun but I ate WAY too much. I’m not beating myself up over it. I’m not quite sure why I ate that much but it was the holiday, it’s over and I’m moving on. Oh wait, I DO know why I ate so much, my Uncles from Brooklyn brought Italian Cookies. They are one of my all time favorites. Thankfully I do NOT live near a New York Bakery!

Marathon Relay Training is going well. I ran 5 times last week, 2 – 30 min runs, 2 at boot camp and my first 40 minutes! This week so far I ran one 30 minutes and a boot camp run this morning. I don’t think I’m going to hit my goal of 3 – 40 minute runs this week. I’m shooting for 1 tomorrow and 45 minutes on Saturday. So I guess I’m fine tuning my training schedule taking some of the advice I’ve been getting (all by the well helpful AND appreciated!). I’m still attempting to increase my time 5 minutes a week and I would like to get at least one 60 minute run in before the Marathon. Preferable early in the week. I’m also shooting for 4 weight training sessions and boot camp classes during the week AND I’m going to give Zumba a try this weekend! It’s a dance class. Now that I wrote all that out I have NO idea who has possessed this lazy body of mine! I feel like work-out-aholic girl! LOL but I really love it! It’s totally my outlet now.

I hinted in my 40 Min run post that I had to say goodbye to my “baby”. Well what I meant by that was WeightWatcchen is no longer online. If you try to go there you will be redirected here. In doing so I lost a lot of revenue and some blog posts that didn’t get transferred but it was being severely targeted by Hackers and I just couldn’t keep up anymore. I was sad to see it go but at the same time I really want to focus my energy here (most of my posts are here anyway) on GreenLiteBites and BlogToLose. I don’t have time to manage and debug an archived site. That being said Blogs.WeightWatchen.com is still live and people are still blogging. Please show them some support if you have time. Oh and a note to the hackers…. MY AUDIENCE IS NOT INTERESTED IN VIAGRA!!!

Speaking of focusing my energy I’m working on getting a new chat system in place on BlogToLose so you may see some weird stuff happening over there in the next few days. I am also uploading a new video as I type this so that should be posted by tonight along with the podcast and two additional sessions throughout the week and I’m still pumping out recipes ideas on GreenLiteBites, including a new produce pick, related recipe for okra and this weeks video of Beer Chicken in the Oven. I feel like a “well oiled machine!” But if you can’t tell, I’m loving every minute of it and I TRULY love what I do!

Things I’m working on… 2 new food finds (although they might be old), another quick lunch idea, a new blog contest and I’m still working on a cook book review!

Things I’m behind on, email, blog reading, my cook book and sleep. :~) In all seriousness I’m desperately behind blog reading, I’ve basically conceded to it this week. I just don’t know how I can keep up!

Ok, I think that’s all the updates I had. I guess I really did have so much to say. I’ll be back with a video later! Have a good “hump” day!

This afternoon I did something I haven’t done in 3 years. Something that the old me used to do ALL the time.

I grabbed a slice of cheese out of the fridge and ate it. Then I did it again, the second time wrapping the cheese around some deli turkey.

It may seem small and insignificant to you, but for me it’s a symbol of who I used to be, of the old habits I used have. (Just some insight… old me would eat an entire meals worth of cheese and deli meat while making a sandwich and then still proceed to eat the overstuffed sandwich I made with a side of chips.)

Don’t get me wrong I’m not beating myself up because I ate 2 slices of cheese and some sliced turkey meat. That’s not that big of a deal. I’m just trying to figure out WHY I did it. Maybe more importantly, why I used to do it. I wasn’t hungry, I wasn’t bored I was just feeling “off”. That’s about the only way I can describe it. This is the “off” feeling I normally define as a “funk”.

If I really think about it, there are only a handful of things that set off these funk feelings…

I’m out of my routine for too long and I’m not sure how to get back to it.

It’s THAT time of the month (TOM) or better known as AF. :~P

I feel overwhelmed and discouraged about something, whether it be life, work, marriage, parenting.

I FEEL fat, insecure and unattractive.

If I think about all the times I have unconsciously eaten or consciously sought out food for comfort I think I can tie it back to one of those four events/feelings.

I’m not sure if I’m making any sense right now but I’m starting to feel better by just getting these thoughts out. Today my overeating (Let’s just say I didn’t really stop at the 2 slices of cheese) is the results of #1 above. I’m CRAVING structure. This summer has been nothing but constant craziness with no schedule, vacations, business trips, and visitors.

I need a routine and I’m working on it. The toddler will start preschool next week, I have no out of town plans for the next couple of weeks and I’m working on a training schedule for the Baltimore Marathon relay I registered for today.

That’s right! The Baltimore Marathon (I’m changing gears, can you tell?) I registered the relay team this morning so it’s official! I’m sooo excited! It’s only going to be about a 6 mile leg of the whole marathon but still, it’s the Baltimore Marathon! SO COOL!

Other news….

I’ve been busy in the kitchen. My in-laws were in town and we decided (or I did) that instead of going out I’d cook a big dinner. I started us off with some shrimp cocktail then it was a main course of Crab Cakes with a side of Margarita Asparagus and Sweet Potato Fries. For dessert I made Blueberry-Mango “Crisp”. Everything was a hit! and I had so much fun cooking for everyone. I was really happy with the meal and the fact I saved a bazillion calories by eating in.

Yesterday I also posted the GreenLiteBites video. This week the toddler and I invite you too see us make our favorite breakfast, Omelets.

On the business front, I finished up a simple blog design for Kristen from Shoutin’ from the Rooftop. I still have some work to do on her site but overall the design is finished and she is really happy with the her new look (and so am I!)

Other cool news… I’ve been invited to serve as a panelist for the BlogHer Reach Out Tour in Washington DC. I’m super psyched as I’ve wanted to get more involved with the BlogHer folks and I look forward to meeting other blog fanatics like myself. :~)

Coming soon…. I’m reviewing 3 books for the site, I have one more video session to post and I hope to have a training and workout schedule in place to help prepare for the Marathon. So stay tuned for all that!

Phew, I think that’s enough for tonight. I’m getting tired. Tomorrow I plan on journaling, hitting the gym and fighting this funk off!

Remember that little innocent question that I laughed off in a video post the other day. The one that asked if I ever get recognized from the site. Well, it happened, TONIGHT! I was having dinner at a local restaurant (stuffing my face I might add) and I got up to play with the toddler. All of a sudden I hear a “Are you Roni? I read your site.” I just nodded in disbelief, not because I was recognized but because I JUST said it wouldn’t happen!

I think the husband was more exited then I was. The whole way home he was talking about it and making fun of me. He was joking about the stages of “celebrity”. Soon, he said, they’ll be asking for autograph. Ok, I said, we’ll see.

If that wasn’t enough craziness, remember that little guest post I mentioned. Well it was apparently picked up by Fox, Reuters and Sun-Times. How cool is that?!? It was so weird seeing my picture on those major news sites. All I did was answer a few questions! lol

The last craziness is iTunes. So I was working on the podcast thing and I’ve linked the audio files on the last two video posts but I finally got approval from iTunes. I have my own page! How cool is that? If you have iTunes you can use this link and it should launch it. If that doesn’t work you’ll be able to search for me in podcasts tomorrow (it takes a few days to get into the search results.) I don’t know why, but this cracks me up! Maybe because I use iTunes all the time.

Anyway, I had an OK day. I should have eaten more so I wasn’t so gosh darn hungry at dinner. I had that out of control feeling and I hate that. Ok, gotta get some sleep, have a long day tomorrow.
