Right after I publish this I’m totally off to enter it myself! And if any of you win I’m making you promise to take me along. ;~)

These soups are FANTASTIC. I’m not beating around the bush on this one. For the past few days I’ve been bringing a box and some crackers to work for lunch. The first day it was the Vegetable and I was worried it wouldn’t be enough to fill me up. I was wrong. The next day it was the Minestrone and I thought there was no way it would be as good as the Vegetable. I was wrong. Next I tried the Lentil thinking no way is it better them my version. It was. Today I brought the Black Bean and I just knew it would be good. It was.

I can’t say enough good things about these soups! They are hearty, filling, and tasty without being salty. They are all Vegan and 5 of the 7 flavors are Gluten Free. And the best part… I can pronounce everything on the ingredient list!

Each box is two servings (and rightfully so, it’s a big box) but they are so low in calories the whole box makes a perfect lunch. Especially considering how filling it is.

I haven’t tried all the flavors yet but I will! Here’s a breakdown with nutritional information for the entire box. That’s 2 servings.

Again, the nutritional information I have posted is for the whole box, 2 servings, just over 2 cups of soup. Pretty good calorie bargain if you ask me!

I told you I really can’t say enough but I’m curious what you guys think. Honestly, I never heard of Dr. McDougalls’ until they contacted me and sent me the soups. Am I the only one?

I’m assuming no. So I contacted them and asked if I could give a sample away on the site under one stipulation. If you win you have to come back and let us know what you think in the comments. That’s the deal. Ok? I need to know if I’m the only one that likes these soups this much!

So leave a comment if you’d like to enter the random drawing. Oh! and let me know if you have tried these soups before. I’d love to hear your opinions.

I’ll pick a winner this Sunday! Happy Tuesday everyone. :)

WAY back when, I did a food find for Sensible Portions Multi Grain Mini Crisps. I found them at my local BJ’s. After writing the review the company asked if they could send me additional samples to try and I agreed. They sent a plethora of items. So many the toddler thought it was Christmas! He kept calling them presents. :) Seriously it was almost everything in their product line.

Honestly, I liked them all. I don’t think they make a product I don’t care for! Most of their snacks are "lite" but there are only a few that I buy. Mostly because of my whole grain obsession. I really try to make most of my snacks "worth it". Does that make sense? I just don’t see the reason in snacking on empty stuff (unless it’s chocolate or swedish fish or ice cream) especially is there is a perfectly tasty whole grain alternative. For example they have pita chip, love them, they taste great but they aren’t whole grain. If I have the choice I’ll toast my whole whole grain pitas or choose one of their other whole grain products. I figure the more whole grains are in demand the more they’ll make! Hopefully. :)

So here are my favorite Sensible Portion snacks…

Sensible Portions Soy Crisps

These come in awesome 1.3 oz bags. Just the perfect size for 1 serving! I don’t know about you but if I can grab a bag of anything and not worry about portions I’m psyched. Per bag they are about 150 calories, 4.5g of fat, and 2 g of fiber. That’s 3 WWP. I love them with Salsa or bean dip.

Sea Salt Soy Crisps

LOVE these. You’d link they were too plain but they are great in salsa or dip.

Honey Barbecue Soy Crisps

My favorite straight out of the bag.

Olive Oil & Herb Soy Crisps

These are good but I choose the other two first.

Sensible Portions Multigrain Crisps

These also come in 1.3 oz bag and are just as good if not better then the soy crisps! With core ingredients like whole grain corn flour, whole grain rice flour, and whole grain oat flour I live snacking them with the toddler. Plus they have great flavors! Each flavor does have other ingredients but they are all 3 WWPs per bag!!

Tomato Basil Multigrain Crisps

LOVE these. Tons of flavor. The toddler? not so much.

Apple Cinnamon Multigrain Crisps

Awesome for a sweet snack.

Cheddar Multigrain Crisps

These are my favorite with salsa or bean dip.

Parmesan & Herb Multigrain Crisps

Not my favorite but still good!

Sea Salt Multigrain Crisps

Simple again, but I love them dipped!

Sensible Portions 8 Grain Crisps

These were completely new to me when they sent them. I brought a bag to my moms over the holidays and she loved them too. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep one so I can’t tell you what the ingredient list is. But I can tell you they aver 120 calories a serving with 4g of fat and 3g of fiber. That’s 2 WWP! Here are the only flavors I tried, although they do have more.

They also make lots of 100 cal packs, some whole grain, some not. They do have a chocolate and cinnamon min crisps that rival the Quaker Mini Delights. All in all, I’m a fan of their products. I just wish everything was whole grain.

Has anyone else tried or seen these in stores? Around me I think I’ve only caught them at BJ’s.

I found this bread a few days ago at my local BJ’s. I never heard of Lavash bread but it looked good, like a huge rectangle of flat bread (similar to flat out). Glancing at the nutritional information reveals it’s only 50 calories a serving! With 2g of fat and 3g of fiber. Now don’t get too excited, a servings is half a piece, but still for 100 calories you can’t beat the size.

The first time I tried it wrapped around a hot dog and baked beans. It was DELICIOUS! Soft and chewy. Half slice was just long enough for my Hebrew National. I also tried it with some deli ham, laughing cow and baby spinach. Yum again!

The cool thing… the bread is so soft that it kind of sticks to itself. Making wraps stay together better then traditional wraps or tortillas.
The bad thing…. It’s hard to get a slice out of the package because the bread sticks together. It’s not a deal breaker, though! Just take a butter knife and work the slices apart. It takes some time but it’s worth it.

Oh and the toddler LOVES it. We even use it to make “sushi” rolls for his school lunches. I’m thinking that may be next weeks video for GreenLiteBites. ;~P

Has anyone else seen or tried Joseph’s?

I don’t have much time tonight. My site was hacked again! This time it wasn’t as invasive but still. Some Jackass interjected Viagra ads into all of my files! WTH? I mean seriously!

*deep breath*

I’m not going to focus anymore energy on it. Anyway, here’s my quick food journal today. I’m returning to my simple format. I want to track but doing a full week in loss mode is too much for me right now. I have a lot going on.

So on to this snack idea!

Tonight I just wanted something. You know, “something”. So I took a VitaTop out of the freezer and let it defrost on the counter for a few minutes. Then I and cut it in half. Not in half, like in half but in half so I ended up with two full circles. Does that make sense? Then I proceed to top one of the halves with ¼ cup of Breyer’s Free and squished it down with the other half of muffin. TADA! 2 point Ice cream sandwich!! How COOL is that?! Yea, yea I could have bought a skinny cow or something, but I didn’t have any on hand and this was a nice substitute.

Sorry no picture, I’m a bit lazy tonight. I’ll snap next time I make it. OK, Gotta run.

Investigating it at the grocery store I discovered 1 package was 1 serving weighing it at only 2 points. So I picked up a few packs thinking they’d make a nice quick diner when I didn’t feel like cooking. So I threw the packages in the back of the pantry and forgot about them.

Until tonight, that is. It’s one of those days. I have no desire to cook, I’m by myself and I’m hungry. What’s a girl to do?

I pull out the tuna, popped it in the microwave. Pull out some instant brown rice, popped it into the microwave and viola! a 6 point dinner! Pair it with some veggies or a salad and it’s quite a satisfying meal.

I chose the lightly salted flavor and it was simply yummy. The tuna had that slightly dry texture that tuna does but there was a bit of flavoring I was able to pour over the rice. I was very happy with the amount of nutritional value for the buck! I’ll definitely be picking up some more packages for nights like tonight! It would make a great lunch too!

Geesh for someone who doesn’t really drink anything but water I’ve been getting asked to review a lot of beverages lately.

Fizzy Lizzy arrived at my doorstep in a neat little 4 pack, with old fashion 12 oz glass bottles and little metal bottle-caps. They were really cute!

Reading the nutritional information made them even cuter, basically juice and carbonated water. That’s it! No High fructose corn syrup, no aspartame or artificial sweeteners just juice and bubbly water.

And that’s exactly what they tasted like. They were sweet and refreshing and, well, fun. The even offer some ‘adult’ beverages on their webpage for even more fun! *wink* *wink*

Calories ranged from 90 to 165 calories a bottle (one bottle is a serving – another nice thing – 12oz) based on the flavor.

Now I’m going to be honest, there is no reason why you couldn’t just buy your favorite juice and combine it with carbonated water to make your own ‘soda’. But if you are throwing a party or have kids (husbands in my case) that need a ‘product’ to be fooled into drinking some healthy soda then this is a nice alternative.

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it in the stores yet. Have you?

I’ve only had the Oatmeal Dark Chocolate, but they also come in Happy Trail Mix, Oatmeal Raisin Flax.

One whole grain cookie has 130 calories, 5 g of fat and 3 g of fiber. They are a good size but it’s hard to eat just one.

The toddler LOVES them and I like that fact I can feel good about letting him have a cookie after dinner that has at least some nutritional value. The only problem, I also have one, two, or four!

OK OK Already! I have gotten more emails about this product then any other and I finally got a chance to try them. Well let me tell you, they lived up to the great reputation! I had an oats and chocolate on the way home from the grocery store and it was delicious. Chewy, sweet and really filling! All that for only 2 points a piece!

I’ll be carrying a new bar in my bag. :)

Update 3/2010: I don’t buy them much anymore for a couple of reason one of them being what many people have expressed in the comments below.. you gotta read them for yourself. LMAO
