Thank you for being so open and sharing these pictures. I have just started my weight loss journey and I don't have any hope at all for the skin on my belly. Breasts, either, for that matter. This gives me an idea of what I'll be dealing with. I have about 40 lbs to lose but I'm starting out with a flappy, hangy belly so I know I'll have to deal with excess skin eventually.

It's kind of scary to move toward that when I know I can comfort myself with a piece of cake. KWIM? It really is time for me, though.

Thanks again. I appreciate your honesty.

Thank you so much for posting your photos and commentary about your tummy tuck. For a long time I thought that I wanted to get this surgery (after 3 c-sections and weight loss, I could sure use it!). But, I had no idea about how long the scar is until I saw your photos. I'm so happy now to see the realities of this. Thank you!!!!!

Wow!! You look beautiful!..I can imagine how happy you are with the results. I'm planning to have a tummy tuck in the near future and I just can't wait any longer. Having this extra fat and skin is horrible. Congratulations!! and you really did a great job with the before and after pictures.

Stacy - This is a tough one for me to answer. To be honest I wasn't at my goal very long once I decided to the tummy tuck. That being said what I've learned through the process is that confidence comes from within not with what's on the surface. I still have lumpy thighs and now scars around my entire midsection. My arms still flap. My ass still jiggles. I can go on and on.

What I'm trying to say is you will never be perfect, I will never be perfect, tummy tuck or not.

I hope that helps. reply via email if you want to chat.

after spending hours on the internet i am definately going to persist with my compression garment. i have just had my dressing removed and feel more comfortable now but still a bit worried about the appearance of my stomach i am hoping in weeks to come it will improve. i also had a problem with constipation but as i am a nurse i knew the right combination of tablets to take to help ease it. anyway thanks for ur comments1

Natalie,
I'm just 6 weeks post op from having a tummy tuck, breast lift, lyposuction. I wore my compression garment for 4 weeks - 24-7. I didn't start wearing spanx until they told me at my 4 week appointment that I could. I only took the compression garment off to wash it out and hang it to dry. While it was drying I didn't do anything but lay around and relax. I wanted the best outcome so I was very careful.
Did you have your muscles stitched together? For me, the first two weeks were HELL! I took 2 stool softeners every night so I wouldn't get constipated. I still ended up constipated and had a terrible time with hemorroids and bleeding. That's all passed, thank goodness. (Sorry to be so graphic but it's the truth.)
I still wear the Spanx when I'm doing things. For the support. It seems to feel better.
Hope this helps.....

hi just wanted to say its great that u posted pictures of the duration of your healing. i am 1 week post op after having a mini tummy tuck with extended incision. i have to say i was so worried about the amout of swelling i have and at the moment feel my stomach looks awful. however it was nice to see that it does get better and i need to be patient. just wanted to ask how long through the day and how many weeks did u wear the compression garmet. i am finding my very uncomfortable and have to change to spanx type garmets just so i am able to relax. i am a bit worried this will effect the outcome.

Roni,

I like your web site.

I also like the initiative that you took to create/maintain the web site in an effort to control your weight and tummy tuck.

I am a man who had a tummy tuck over a year ago. I am basically trying to do the same thing that you did in a effort to keep the weight off.

Keeping the weight off and exercising daily is a hard thing to do and for me at least, requires constant monitoring.
