About
Hi, I’m Roni! Also known as Veronica Noone. I’m a Mom, wife, daughter, web developer and overall blogging geek. I used to teach web development full time at a community college but now I mostly blog and work with the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
I started blogging when I got pregnant with my son, now “the toddler”“the little guy”. Creating a web page became a way for me stay in touch with friends and family and keep them updated on the new addition that was about to bless us. (Yes, this is my belly, although the pictures was of my swollen feet but that gosh darn 8lb baby got in the way.)

I was immediately hooked on blogging. It gave me a way to be creative and communicate, two of my absolute favorite things to do (translation: I like to make stuff and I like to talk, A LOT). At first, my pregnancy and new baby took most of my blogging energy.

Then I started to post about my weekly Weight Watcher meetings. After a few weeks I decided I needed a “Weight Watchen” page. I started to use my blog as a means to vent, celebrate and share on my journey of reaching my weight loss goals.
Hmmmm I forgot to tell you. I had a weight problem, didn’t I. Well, it was more a “body image” problem. This is me in 1999. I had this problem for as long as I can remember and talk more about it on the My Story page. That’s where I go in detail about my "weight history".
So back to this blog thing, Weight Watchen really started to become a complete outlet for me, It was my shoulder to cry on, my friend to high five and my coach to report to (Click here to see the original archives salvaged). I posted progression photos, recipes, tips, insights and pretty much anything else that inspired me. I liked sharing things I thought would be useful to others on their quest for healthiness.
Notice “Recipes” wasn’t linked. I used to post recipes but food was slowly taking over my blog (as I am a bit obsessed with it, you know, food) so I decided to start another blog, a food blog, called GreenLiteBites. At this point, I’ve become a bit of a blogging maniac.
In addition to the two blogs I launched a blog community called BlogToLose. Having reached my goals using this medium I thought it only fair to helps others reach theirs. I truly believe blogging can help people live a more conscious life and living consciously is necessary if one is to lose weight and change habits. It took me YEARS to learn that and it’s one of the messages I want to share here, on Roni’s Weigh.
Never in a million years did I think my little community would become as popular as it did, BlogToLose now has over 3000 members!
Since blogging has become such a passionate healthy outlet for me I decided to gather those that feel the same way for a yearly conference. It’s called FitBloggin and I explain my motivation behind organizing it here in this post. FitBloggin’10 was a a lot of fun and I’m making plans to get FitBloggin’11 underway!

I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...] -
It's been awhile since I jazzed up a tilapia fillet. I've breaded them before, coated them in oats, flavored them like one of my favorite drinks and topped them with a fun salsa. It was time to bring nuts into the party. You are going to think I'm crazy but I've [...] -
Fun leftover turkey idea #2! Click here for leftover turkey idea #1. I had a little Gouda leftover from this years Harvest Salad and decided to put all the same flavors from the salad into a quesadilla. I just can't get enough of the smokey gouda/sweet craisin combo. It goes [...] -
It's the day after Thanksgiving and my refrigerator ROCKS! I have leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted Brussels Sprouts, a bunch of veggies and tons of miscellaneous fun stuff. I've already made stock from the bones (like this) and my first batch of soup, Classic Turkey Noodle. I hope to share [...] -
I'm so sorry I've been slacking in the Thanksgiving recipe department. I feel like a bad food blogger. Everyone else is posting festive ideas and here I've gone missing for a few days. Maybe it's because I'm not doing anything special for Turkey day. I finally got my holiday cooking [...] -
I just made a quick, tasty one pot meal the whole family ate without complaint! And when I say "whole" I mean WHOLE! The Baby, The Little Guy, AND The Picky Eater Husband! Here's the story…I was in NO mood to spend a lot of time on dinner. The thought [...] -
Sunday I made this sandwich on a complete whim. I just bought a bunch of red delicious apples (they were on sale.) I had 2 slices of turkey breast left in the fridge and a few wedges of The Laughing Cow Cheese just waiting to be used. As you guys may [...] -
I bought a bag of kale instead of a bag of spinach this week. My plan was to figure out ways to get this power house vegetable IN me and hopefully IN my family, although unless I hide it, they aren't game. According to NutritionData.com, Kale... [...]

I love the updates! I’ve been following you for over a year now and learned even more about you here. I cannot even believe that WW hasn’t jumped on board with you considering how much of a believer of their program you are. Thank you for all you do for those like me who are on our own journey to go from fat, to skinny, to healthy!! You rock!!
Hi Roni – congratulations on your fitness accomplishments and your great blog.
I am a personal trainer and founder of an excellent fitness resource site that I believe could be helpful to you for your blog and for your readers.
You can include any and all of the videos from our fitness library on your blog – our VideoShare service. I know how hard it is to create quality content and keep it fresh for your visitors.
All of the videos were professionally shot by a skilled director and overseen by a noted fitness expert. They feature personal trainers demonstrating over 800 exercises and frequently asked questions answered by an exercise science professor, registered dietician, and a personal trainer who, himself, teaches other trainers.
You can make your own customized combinations of videos related to a blog topic to include in a post. And you can embed one of our “widgets” for Exercise of the Day or Fitness Q&A of the Day, which gets automatically updated, for your side bar.
Let me know what you think. I value feedback.
Best,
Sheryl
Hi from another Roni! Congrats on your accomplishment.
Check out veronicas last blog post..Happy Samhain!
Hi Roni,
My friend actually told me about your blog and I must say im glad that she did. Your website is spot on many things. Keeping it short and to the point I was interested in posting a short text link on your site. It is totally not promoting any products or merchandise. It is simply a weight loss resource tool. We showcase many popular diet programs and products and give out the facts about them. Check out the website if you want to see for yourself:

If you approve of us and are interested please email me back and specify your price point.
Thanks again and keep up the nice work.

Hi! My name is Denise Burks and I live in the suburbs of Chicago. I am trying to crack the code to successful suburban living by interviewing and photographing women who like their lives. One of the many challenges that I faced while living in the suburbs (besides loneliness, boredom, frustration, intimidation, powerlessness, and such) was a significant weight gain. Now I don’t necessarily blame the suburbs for my weight gain. My husband, his ex-wife, my children, my step-children and my neighbor Sherri Sonner deserve credit also. And there is a possibility that my bad attitude had something to do with it. Regardless, I have been fantasizing about writing a blog that tracks my suburban journey back to fitness. I’d like to model my blog after yours and would love to chat further about your adventure. Thanks in advance. I appreciate any feedback. Hello Roni. I just listened to your interview on Blog Success. At the end you mention the lonely lifestyle. I so appreciated your acknowledgement of this fact. And, I must say that listening to your interview left me feeling less alone. I have been trying to start blogging, setting up two so far, for a couple months. I have always wished that I could talk to someone that knew what to do. I have struggled immensly trying to figure it all out. The design. The host. The pluggins. I have felt so alone. I stumbled across BlogSuccess in an effort to now learn how to do advertising. I found their site. Am checking it out and your interview was the first thing I did on my first day. I feel like I have come home. I too am an academic. A ph.d in psychology. Laid off by the state of california. Questioning my career choice. I have started writing. I am breeding dogs and being a FREE therapist. My other blog is http://www.TalkAboutCrazy.com. I feel so much more “hope” after your interview. You have reached out and touched and I wanted you to know. I feel more confindant. All your talk about “organic”, well that so clicked with me. I love the look of your blog here. Wish there was software I could buy to design something like this. If you look at what I have done, those are basic Artisteer designs. I have built websites and find the blogging template world confining creatively. Shoudld I take an html class? I don’t expect to hear from you but would love to. But mostly, you should know how effective you were in your interview. I feel less alone tonight. Guess the time……nearly 1:00 a.m. My kitten sleeps beside the monitor. :-)
I love your blog. I was curios about your diet. How did you change it? What foods should I avoid after a tummy tuck? I am 9 weeks post op. And I look and feel great. I don’t want to get like I did before surgery. Please give me some diet and excercise pointers.

Angela It’s all about balance. I’m not going to tell you want to and not to eat. Focus on whole foods, limit processed stuff… that’s my philosophy. :)
Congrats on the TT!!
Wow. youre hot. Are you free next Friday. After a long week of blogging, Im sure you would be interested in sushi and Jaeger bombs.
Great blog (s) Roni.
I found you through blogsuccess and listened to your interview with Jack.
The most noticeable thing is how you simpley took your passions and expand on them extremely well.
I’m doing the same thing but not as well as you.
I think that’s something that many folks miss is there must be passion to start.
I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but I want to ask you “How significant to your blogs success is BlogSuccess ?”
I beleive I need to join to get to the next level in blogging and just wanted an honest testimonial if that’s OK.
Thanks.
Hi Nicholas,
Honestly I was just interviewed by blogsuccess I was never a member.
Sorry. :(
