Today I want to share a few cartoons I found on the web. I was inspired after posting 5 Breastfeeding Cartoons for Baby’s First Year.

@WWStella shared this one with me on Twitter today.

I never turn down a challenge. Ever.

Have I told you I’m a wee bit competitive? Not at everything, just at things I think I’m good at.

And I’m darn good at drinking water.

Not as good as I used to be though.

There was a time I was never without my water bottle. We were attached at the hip. Never to be separated. Home. Work. Class. On walks. In the car. I was constantly sipping.

It was a habit.

Every night I’d fill my bottle half with water, throw it in the freezer, then the next morning I’d fill the rest with water. Off to work I’d go with my trusty companion. If I ran out? Hello water fountain.

It worked for me, but only when I had a consistent daily routine.

Now I’m all over the place. Having a newborn and working for yourself is pretty much the definition of inconsistent.

I still drink water, but not nearly as much as I used to. I just forget. I’m out of the habit and to be honest, I miss it.

I may even miss it more than I realize.

According to Nutrition Today, even minor dehydration can impair your mental health. Degradation of cognitive function and mood begins at a point between 1% and 2% water mass loss.

Maybe THAT’S my problem!

I kid. I kid.

In all seriousness though. Water rocks. It’s just does.

That’s why I’m psyched for the Brita Challenge!

We have challenged each other and will be battling for the next month on twitter. Who will rise float to the top?

Full Disclosure: I am working with Brita to promote the Brita Challenge campaign.
Citation: Nutrition Today (Armstrong, Lawrence E. Rationale for Renewed Emphasis on Dietary Water Intake. Nutrition Today, 2010).
We interrupt my normal weight loss and new baby chatter for a special offer sent to me via Vitalicious!

As you may or may not know, Vitalicious has been sponsoring Roni’s Weigh for some time now. I love that they are willing to work with me as I LOVE their products and frankly, I only work with companies whose products I love and use/eat.

I’m happy to share a coupon code offer they have for 12 free Pumpkin Vitatops when you buy any 24. That’s only $.82 per VitaTop for 36 and they last a long time in the freezer!

If you are curious, I reviewed the new pumpkin flavor a few months ago, click here to check it out.

My other favorite flavors…

Dark Chocolate Pomegranate

Chocolate Mint

Oh who am I kidding– any of the chocolate work for me and Little Guy, he chooses them as an after school snack all the time!

Golden Corn

Click here for the coupon details. The actual code is WRONQ43QYY and it expires April 30, 2011.

I know I’m not the ONLY VitaTop fan out there. What’s YOUR favorite flavor?

Full Disclosure: Vitalicious is a paying sponsor of Roni’s Weigh. However, all opinions expressed in this and all posts are my own. For a list of other companies I work with click here to see my “shop” page. Purchasing products from paying sponsors and affiliates is one way to support your favorite bloggers.

YAY! I got an award!

I wasn’t going to post a journal entry tonight but then Liz of Shedding the Fat-Suit was so kind to pass on the Happy 101 Award to me. I just had to do it (when you see #5 on my list you’ll understand why)! Thanks Liz!

The rules are to copy the award image and display it on your blog, list 10 things that make you happy, try to do at least one of those things today and then pass the award along to 10 bloggers who brighten your day.

So here goes!

. . .

10 Things That Make me Happy

1.) Running

I’m putting this right at the top and declaring YES I am a runner and YES it makes me happy! And I did run today! See. . .

Chart taken from the Nike+. Click here to see how I post it.

2.) Hanging out with the little guy

Today we played Uno, painted, ate, grocery shopped, danced and read. Nothing makes me happier then chillin with the boy. :)

3.) Working together with the husband

Sounds cheesy but we’ve been in the zone lately. Working together. Supporting each other. Compromising. It’s been nice and knowing I found a partner in life makes me extremely happy.

4.) Cooking

I cooked all weekend, alone (Asian Inspired Tabouli Salad) and with the boy (Vanilla Pudding Cups with Oranges and Pomegranates). I could spend HOURS in the kitchen just trying new things and experimenting. Totally makes me happy.

5.) Blogging

What can I say. I LOVE it. I wish I had more time to connect with people via twitter, follow up with comments, read more blogs, etc. There’s just not enough hours in the day!

6.) Photography

Yet ANOTHER thing I wish I had more time to do. I love the feeling I get when I take that perfect shot. Like this one. . .

7.) Helping others.

Call me a Goody two-shoes, I don’t care. I love using my knowledge, skills and talents to help others. My favorite place to be at the BlogHer conference is the Geek Lab because I get to help other bloggers. I do my best to answer every email. I’m just a natural teacher, I guess. I like to teach and learn from others.

8.) A good (preferably scary) movie on the big screen with a HUGE tub of popcorn (no butter of course ;)

I like most movies but scary, mystery, thrillers, and (ok I’ll admit it) slashers are my favorite. Give me a night out with some good friends, a bucket of popcorn and I’m set.

I’ll end with my Food journal. Day 4 of counting points again and I’m feel much better. Not becuase I’m "dieting" or restricting in anyway (I’m not setting a target, just tracking) but because I’m getting more conscious of my food selections again. I’ve caught myself a few times about to throw a slice of cheese in my mouth or grab a *cough* donut. Not that there’s anything wrong with those things but I was starting to do it unconsciously again and that’s not a place I want to go back to. It doesn’t make me happy. ;~)

Today was the toddlers BIG day. His 4th Birthday Bash! It was a jam packed fun-filled-perfect day!

It all started this morning when the toddler ran into my room at 6AM to ask if this was his "birthday day". I smiled and said, "yuppers!" He was SO happy and SO concerned about gift bags. I swear his favorite part of anyone’s birthday, including his own, is the small little trinket favors you get. It’s so cute.

I hopped out of bed with him and realized heading to the gym was a pipe dream. There was just no time. So I did a routine on Exercise TV and then the toddler and I played and danced and jumped around until we were BOTH out of breath.

After our play session we hit the kitchen to prepare for the party. We made some Big Simple Chocolate Cupcakes and fruit salad.

We had a blast. It was a great morning and this is how I will remember the toddlers last weekend as a toddler. :)

Then we were off too a local bounce play place. We bounced.. we played.. it was AWESOMELY fun. I’m so glad I wasn’t the only parent who got down and dirty with the kids. We were all jumping around and just having a great time. The husband and I even got in a round of boxing!

Then it was food time. I may have had a slice or two extra of the pizza but it was cut small for the kids. ;~) The cake was good but a slice was all I needed. Plus I knew I had my lighter cupcakes at home.

Once we got back to the house the party got more intimate with mostly family and close friends. I grilled lean burgers, Grilled Honey Mustard Turkey Oat Burgers and my new Asian Apricot Marinade AKA "The Delicious Chicken." Paired with some corn on the cob and baked beans it was an overall healthy spread with not one complaint! See… no one missed the mayo laden summer salads or high fat hot dogs if you replace them with lighter healthier turkey burgers and grilled chicken. Plus everyone loved the cupcakes that were made with pumpkin and my giant fruit salad is completely gone!

The toddler had such a full day he crashed around 7 watching one of new DVD’s. I ended up taking my best friend, Mom and Father-in-law for a ride to see the new house site. By the time I got back the little guy was dead asleep. It was time for the adults to pull out the Wii and have some fun. :)

Right now everyone’s in bed but me. I felt compelled to write about the day and I really wanted to publish the poll for "the toddler’s" new name. He has 2 more days until he’s officially 4. I still can’t believe it. I really don’t think people realize how fast time flies by until they have a child of their own. All of a sudden you have a constant reminder. It’s wonderful and sad at the same time.

OK, I’m getting too deep. :) I need sleep and anyway… What I really want to know is…

Are you guys on facebook? I am and recently I’ve been tagged about 100 times to write 25 random things about myself. I was about to do it when I remembered WAY back when I wrote a 100 Random Things about me post on my old site that I lost in the crash (if you are a new reader, long story short… I lost 2 years worth of posts and had to rebuild the site a couple of years ago.)

Anyway, instead of just writing the 25 things I went on a mission to find the 100 ones I wrote back then. Partly because I really wanted to read the old list but mostly because I’m stubborn. I searched my desktop. No luck. Then I remembered the wayback machine! I took a look at my archives for WeightWatchen (my old site name) and TaaaDaaaa! It was there! I was so excited!

Re-reading them was an experience. I had to change a few as they were a bit dated but overall this was my original 100 things about me post.

I love those cheesy mail forwards where you answer questions to get to know your friends. (kind of like this) ;)

I am the biggest sap in the world. I routinely cry watching t.v. dramas, touching commercials or sometimes just by looking at my son.

I sing aloud and dance around like a complete idiot when I’m home with my son. (my workout)

I’m not the biggest fan of Country or Hard Core Rap but everything in between is OK.

I rarely drink but when I do I like to get a little giddy.

My mom is my biggest hero, I’m so much like her, sometimes wish I was more so and sometimes less.

I want to shave my head just once, totally bald. I’ve come close a few times but never had the guts.

I cut my nails really short, so short most people think I bite them.

I love painting my toe nails blue in the summer.

I have a fear of tow stubbing. I seem to do it all the time. (Translation: I’m a klutz)

If I could, I’d wear a pair of Birkenstocks every day.

I brush my teeth in the shower.

I always have the feeling I’m “winging” it. Must be a confidence thing.

I am a jack of all trades and master of none.

I LOVE the fact that I’m in my 30s and am enjoying getting older.

I’m deathly afraid of getting wrinkles.

My son is perfect in every way and I’m enjoying watching him get older.

I don’t want anymore children. UPDATE 3/15/11 – As I sit here 9 months preggers this has, of course, changed. Last year the baby bug bit me BAD! so I will rephrase my original to… I never wanted two babies at the same time. ;)

I have the 2 closest friends in the world they couldn’t be any more different.

I wish I went to art school.

I may be left and right brained but more likely then that, I’m an artist at heart who learned how to fake being a programmer.

As I got older I enjoy gardening.

I LOVE grocery shopping and can spend hours in the store reading and exploring new products.

I love scary movies, even the cheesy slasher types.

I have 5 small tattoos, each one means something different to me.

  I love to cuddle.

I’m obsessed with old, black and white pictures of New York City.

I’m obsessed with web culture and technology.

I never thought it would happen, but I can’t keep up with the latest songs, artists or what’s on the radio.

I now listen to the progressive rock/adult alternative station.

If you couldn’t tell already. I may be the worst writer in the world.

  I can’t spell (Duh?)

I have no grammar skills

I’ve been growing my hair out so I can donate it to locks for love but now I’m attached to it. Update: I cut it all off.. SLOWLY. The donation never happened.

I don’t recycle. Bad I know. I’m working on it. Update: I am now a proud recycler!

I HATE coffee. Never had a cup, never will.

I hate creamy soups, mayo, sour cream, and ranch dressing.

Mary Poppins is my favorite Disney movie.

I play with the legos and train tracks more then my son does.

I only drink water (except that occasional spirit) and don’t understand peoples fascination with soda.

I have too many interests. I want to take art classes, nutrition classes, dance classes, you name it.

I wish I could speak another language. (yet another class I want to take)

I’ve been wearing the same earrings for months and rarely wear jewelry as accessories.

I can go outside without make-up and wasn’t wearing any for my last driving license photo (I also had super short spikey hair)

I love playing pool, and I’m not half bad but the pool halls around here suck!

I’m a poker fanatic. I played when I was a kid with my grandparents and I’m happy there is a poker phase giving more attention to the game now.

I originally write this while watching poker on TV.

I say “I love you” more times then I can count to my husband and son every day.

I hate going to bed mad, and try to avoid it at all costs.

When anyone is late, I start to worry that something bad may have happened.

I’m not sure what I want to do when I grow up.

For some reason this video made me laugh so hard in college beer was coming out of my nose.

I stay up too late almost every night and regret it every morning.

My index finger is longer then my ring finger. Apparently, this is odd.

I dislocated my knee in high school. No, I’m not an athlete I was just walking. Hence, I’m not an athlete.

I worked at McDonald’s for 5 years.

I celebrated my 21st birthday alone, in a Florida bar/pool hall, because I was working out of state.

I miss working on projects for clients.

I was known for being good at beer pong in college.

I was in the Army Reserves and went through Basic Training right after High School.

I never enjoyed reading until recently.

I LOVE the Jersey Shore and boardwalks.

Atlantic City is my favorite weekend getaway. (Yes I know it’s on the Jersey Shore)

  I love to gamble.

My husband and I have been together for 14 years and we’ve been married for 8 of them this April. Update: Now it’s 16 and 10 years! Holy Cow!

I don’t believe in soul mates.

I’m not a fan of organized Religions.

I went to Catholic School for 12 years.

I can’t believe you are still reading these. I’m getting bored writing them.

Sometimes I wish I was closer to my father and brother, but I’m not.

I actually enjoy moving and would love to try a few more states on for size.

I’m happy my husband grounds me from #73.

I love true crime stories.

I wish I were a city girl, but I’m really not.

I love small cars and can’t wait to get a small hybrid.

I love road trips with my husband.

The first concert I saw was Poison, I think I was in 7th or 8th grade.

I’m a horrible clothes shopper and need a lot of help from my friends. Although I’m getting better.

In college I had an obsession with over sized striped shirts (see #80 above)

I still don’t know what size bra I should be wearing.

  Serial Killers fascinate me.

I went through a pink phase in my preteen years, which was directly followed by a black phase in high school. Then I was “saved” by the grunge flannel look in the early 90’s. (This may be why I can’t shop for clothes today)

I really do love to cook and experiment with food.

I’m thinking 100 things may be too many now that I started this.

I didn’t get glasses until I was 29 but know I can’t live without them.

I have to get popcorn when I see a movie.

I can’t lay on a beach too long without getting bored.

I love the fact I’m a working mom.

I feel guilty about being a working mom.

I would rather it be hot then cold and every winter I wonder why I don’t live in Florida.

I needed to ask my husband to help with the last few things about myself.

I rub my feet together when I sleep.

I shop too much at Old Navy and try to counter act that with a shirt or two from White House Black Market

  I really hate knick-knacks.

I still have notes saved from high school.

My favorite TV shows right now are the Closer, Lost, the Mentalist and whatever else I catch. — Update: Add Mad Men, Walking Dead, and Fringe to that list!

I’d like to think I don’t watch too much TV but I really do.

I’m a Leo through and through.

Ok if you made it this far it’s you’re turn. Do you think you can do it? I’m not going to tag anyone specific but if you blog try it. Writing 100 things about you is quite an experience! :)

A few days before Christmas I wrote a post about making money with my blog. Whether or not responding to the original comment/question was the right way to approach the topic, I did and it gave me an outlet to explain my position very clearly.

My response inspired quite a few comments and I appreciated reading everyone support, suggestions and thoughts. One comment in particular made me simultaneous laugh and and cry. Jenn, from the bottom of my heart thank you for such a creative, entertaining, FABULOUS comment. I really consider it my favorite Christmas gifts. :) (note: I added links for those that may not know some of the references.

Thanks again Jenn, you’ll never know how much you touched me.

Roni,

I feel the conviction to use this occasion to take action with this documentation.
Not that you need confirmation, validation and affirmation, but you need to know that you have my appreciation. Along with the rest of your Bloggin’ population (Blog = contraction for web log).

The birth of your son led to a nutrition investigation which led to weight reduction and eventual physical transformation. You made an invitation to the nation as you shared your new information, where you to made the proclamation that you received satisfaction from your Bloggin’ population. We have watched your progression and are in awe of your motivation.

With an obsession for food and a passion for computers, you laid the foundation for an amazing profession. What gumption! You even took a demotion with your newly chosen vocation. My impression is that your decision came with some hesitation, but your little addition (“The Toddler”) helped the decision. Now he gets more of your devotion, admiration and attention.

Upon my own reflection, I received a sudden intuition (epiphany by definition). I shared with you my ideation about set-point and my own complication with weight reduction. Although you receive an inundation of e-mails from across the nation, you gave personal recognition through communication and more inspiration.

Now, I wait in anticipation for the next installation of your latest invention from your imagination, which you add to your blogging collection. Plus, a photo composition of your food creations creates the causation of salivation. I can see the caramelization now. With your recipe directions, I seek transportation to purchase the grocery acquisitions although some require refrigeration. Your creations put an end to starvation.
However, you do caution about portion and moderation, yet without deprivation. Hmm… What was that last beverage concoction? Oh yes, it was mint tea and chocolate syrup – what a combination! You add a whole new dimension to digestion (or is it ingestion? I know it’s not indigestion).

You never use fiction or fabrication, but you do have conviction. You were even honest when you had an operation. Upon closer examination during my retrospection – I have no objection, nor do I need justification when you receive restitution for the addition of a new fashion dimension.

It would take a stretch of the imagination to think your intention would be to create a false impression. Solicitation is not a violation (well, in some States it is!). But, you get my intention. Move ahead with your vision of expansion, you’re in a great position. You will be met with a warm reception.

And you do this all from the location of not a mansion, but your little workstation? Without charging monetary admission? Did I mention that you are an inspiration and deserve a standing ovation?

I do have one final important question – Are you in this for the duration? Because if not, I have a confession – I will experience an emotional reaction, maybe even hyperventilation. In addition, my family will make the observation at the depletion of nutrition provision through meal stagnation. I would be in a state of confusion and discombobulation.

Roni, in my opinion – You are a champion! One in a million. No – one in a billion, one in a trillion, one in a zillion (and that’s no exaggeration!).

With Gratification,

Oh! and Jenn…. Definitely in it for the duration! (I’d come up with something that rhymed but I’m not as clever as you! :)
