Yesterday I decided to challenge myself (and you if you want in) on NOT mindlessly snacking this week. My evenings have been ridiculous lately. Baked Dorritos, chocolate goldfish, swiss cake roll, ridiculous.

Yea..

I’m done.

Part of me is on the natural post-event downer. Now that the Tough Mudder is over I’m not working towards anything. I can’t seem to find my workout motivation. Being sick last week didn’t help either.

My goals right now are to stop the evening mindless munch fests, schedule a few events and create a realistic workout routine to re-establish ME time.

Today I decided to do a photo food journal to help build my momentum.

This morning I made this smoothie and added about a tablespoon of Chia seeds.

They are new to me, never bought them before. Click here to check out Little Bean’s "review."

Lunch was a quick wrap made with The Laughing Cow, deli ham, mustard and baby spinach plus some red bell pepper on the side.

Oh! and my big iced green tea on the side.

The Husband had leftover Chinese. :)

For an afternoon snack I had an apple with some almond butter.

I’m trying to stick with UNproccesed, non-carby snacks.

Dinner was a grilled pork chop and grilled potaotes, peppers, and summer squash. Similiar to this old idea on GreenLiteBites.

I split the bigger chop with both kids (baby ate zip, but I tried.)

After dinner? A nice walk with the boys. :)

After the kids went to bed I had my one allowed snack. Homemade Banana Soft Serve.

I made it with a frozen banana, a handful of frozen blueberries, and some unsweetened cocoa powder.

A-MAZING!

Now my kitchen is closed and it’s time for bed. I swear, half the reason I eat at night is becuase I’m tired. It’s rarely becuase I’m hungry.

Anyway, a few quick announcements before heading to bed…

I am working on a list of running events for the next few months I’ll doing. I didn’t officially make it a goal but I’m trying hard to do at least 1 event a month again this year.

This Thursday I will be recording May’s Ask Roni video LIVE on Spreecast. Stay tuned for more details. I’m still working out some logistics but Thursday, May 24, 1 PM ET is scheduled! I’m going to have company too! MizFit will be joining me as we’ve been considering hosting a monthly show together.

Only 4 MONTHS until the FitBloggin conference. Things are REALLY pickin up now and the nervousness is setting in. SO much to still do!

ok, sleepytime! :)

I actually enjoyed a quiet breakfast, by myself, in front of the TV, watching the news.

Heaven! Right?

Somehow I hit a sweet spot between getting kid 1 on the bus and getting kid 2 out of bed. I took full advantage making myself a 2 egg omelet loaded with veggies and watched 10 minutes of the Today Show without being interrupted.

I told you… heaven. :)

Little Bean woke up and I made him eggs and myself a big class of iced green tea.

After breakfast and a little cleanup, I took Bean to the gym for my Wednesday morning Yoga class. I LOVE this class! Somehow It’s challenging AND relaxing. The instructor shares the simplest ideas that get you thinking too. This morning she asked us to think about where our minds went while in a pose. Did it return to what we were thinking about in the car on the ride in? A moment in our past? Something in the future?

She then said…

No Judgment, Just Notice.

I love that.

Be conscious. Be aware. Live with your eyes open but without guilt or fear or blame or judgment.

It was exactly what I needed to hear. Earlier I didn’t get on the scale for my weigh in because I didn’t want to deal with the gain I knew I’d see.

After class I decided to notice…

…and not judge myself.

I can’t go back to the weekend and eat less but I can make better choices today and move forward.

Each day is an opportunity to travel back into tomorrow’s past and change it. ~Robert Brault

Love that too!

I was in an inspired mood today. :)

Lunch was a BIIIIIG salad.

Mom sent me home with leftovers from the party on Sunday and we are still eating them. I made a HUGE pile of the salad and topped it with a scoop of Mom’s homemade Sloppy Joe’s, a bit of cheese and two crunched up Dorritos on top.

DELISH!

When Little Guy came home from school we shared a bit of cantaloup while making dinner.

Dinner was a 3oz burger on a sandwich thin with a side of asparagus and corn on the cob.

Little Bean got in on the corn action too!

After dinner and a baseball game (Little Guy did GREAT!) I enjoyed a sugar free fudgesicle.

Then I enjoyed another cause that’s how I roll. ;)

Hope you had a great day! I’m off to bed a little late tonight. I have to skip my morning workout tomorrow (schedule conflict) which means I have officially wrapped up my tough mudder training!

T-3 days… YIKES!

I worked out this morning! Seems so minor with my training schedule and all, but honestly, I’ve been out of sync since the weekend.

Monday I was still sore from the Half so I decided to take off, Tuesday I was simply too tired to get out of bed, and Wednesday I was just not in the mood to go.

Like I said, I’ve just felt "off" but this morning I was ready to get back into the groove. With only 10 days left until the Mudder, I can’t stop now!

I’ve updated my training page so you can see what I’ve missed.

In the food department I’ve been making conscious choices overall but again struggling with nighttime snacking. That’s what happens when I get into a funk.

I didn’t keep complete food journals each day like Monday, but I did snap a few fun shots throughout the week so I thought I’d share…..

My original Mommy and Me omelet partner. Breakfasts are our special time and always will be. :)

My second breakfast partner and I sharing the only fruit he’ll eat consistently.

Not quite a food photo but so cute I had to share. He enjoyed our 2 mile run this week.

How do you say no to a Triscuit offer from that face?!?

Long story but I had to record a video for The Laughing Cow and that was the subject. I’ll post the link when it goes live on thier site.

Been eating this all week! Seriously in love and sad I only have one bowl left. :( (Click here for the recipe.)

Dinner the other day all cooked on the grill. Noticed my hacked potatoes. I split both with the kids have been doing it that way for ever. They get the middle I get the skin.

My favorite breakfast smoothie: Banana, blueberries, spinach, protein powder, cocoa powder. Click here for the specific recipe (sometimes I use kale, sometimes spinach just depends on what I have on hand)

Lunch yesterday. Notice I did not succumb to The Husband’s McD’s offer. :)

After school snacks.. those darn pretzels have been haunting me all week — SUCH a soft spot for them.

Tonights dinner. This was SUPPOSED to be a recipe for GreenLiteBites until I dropped it. lol Still tasty but I’ll have to make it again before I post. It was a fun burger idea I was experimenting with.

A fun drink I made up tonight. I just wasn’t in the mood for water. (Click here for the recipe.)

That was FUN! I may have to start sharing random pics more often. I must admit I’m a little snap happy. Taking pictures makes me happy but I also don’t like to be a slave to the camera so I walk away from it too. That’s why I could never do consistent photo based, daily walk through posts like the ones on Sunday. Sometimes you just have to be without the thought of how to capture the moment for a blog post.

I thought it would be fun to photo food journal today. I wanted a bit of extra accountability after my fun, indulgent weekend.

I decided to start the day with a nice glad of water and a grapefruit. I wasn’t really hungry but I didn’t want to skip breakfast.

Late morning I cooked up the most amazing soup out of some stock I made on Friday. I was hoping to get it up on GreenLiteBites today but I just ran out of time. Tomorrow, I promise. :)

Lunch was more soup and a hard boiled egg sandwich on a whole wheat bun. Notice the husband’s snack of choice in the background. lol

Afternoon snack.

Bean had some too. :)

Another afternoon snack.

An after school snack. Cucumber slices smeared with the Laughing Cow and turkey pepperoni.

Dinner was a mish mosh of leftovers. I had beans, broccoli and leftover chicken tenders from takeout.

Finally, and I almost forgot, an apple smeared with a bit of almond butter.

That’s all I have in me tonight. I’m off to bed. Tomorrow’s an early morning work out day!

Yesterday was the ridiculous. Let’s just say I had Lindor Truffles for breakfast followed by Peanut Butter Smidgens and way too many cookies after dinner. My Mother-in-Law had these amazing Pecan Cookie balls. The ones with the powdered sugar on the outside. I swear I ate at least 2 dozen mysself. It was bad. Real bad. But MAN they were GOOD.

Anyway, my body didn’t really like this influx of sugar. I was so bloated and tired and bleh. Frankly, I felt like poo. That’s about the best word I can use.

So today I was all about the tracker…

Click here to get a copy of this tracker for your own use

I started my day with my favorite breakfast, a veggie omelet.

I made a classic Mommy and Me Omelet and shared an egg with Little Bean.

This is a tradition I started with Little Guy a long time ago. Click here for the story.

After breakfast the boys played with our new world map while I cleaned up a bit.

How cute are they?!? The last few days have been amazing family time for us. The Husband took a few days off and the 4 of us are having a blast. He has to work tomorrow but then we get another 3 day weekend and I can’t wait.

Anyway, lunch was my latest salad obsession.

It’s salad greens and spinach with gouda, dried cranberries and walnuts. Click here to see how I make this "Harvest Salad" for Thanksgiving. Today I figured out a 6 point single serve version…

I piled on greens and topped with 1oz of cubed gouda, 20g of dried cranberries, 2 whole walnuts chopped and 1 tbsp lite raspberry vinaigrette.

I seriously can eat this every day. It’s a fun winter salad and I don’t really like salads when it gets cold.

The rest of the day was spent cleaning and organizing. I made some pasta for dinner and then hit the gym. It was nice. I actually missed not working out the last few days. I look forward to it now as "my time" that when I don’t go, I feel off.

So that’s it. I’m back to tracking and I’m feeling good after tracking today. I want to hit the New Year running (figuratively and literally.) :)

I’m tired of feeling out of control. Too many old habits are sneaking back in. The photo food journaling has been helping, a little, but I want more structure and accountability.

To help I’m returning to old Weight Watcher points. Don’t try to convince me to hop on the PointsPlus bandwagon. I lost my weight on the old plan. It works for me and I’m not about to fix something that isn’t broken. Yes, I’m a bitter old woman who refuses to change. ;)

That being said, I’ve created my own Weekly Tracker.

You can click here and see the entire document. Click here to download a copy.

Here it is in pictures. Minus the orange and yogurt. :)

I’m still not setting any unrealistic weigh loss goals during the holiday season. It will be what it will be. My goal is to take it one day at a time and be conscious of my choices. That how it worked the first time.

Day after what? Just read my Note to Self from yesterday. It explains all.

Instead of letting one bad day turn into two, I got right back on the food journal wagon.

It all started with breakfast. Just a grapefruit and water for me.

Honestly, I STILL felt yucky from yesterday. I decided NOT to skip breakfast though. A mistake I used to make all the time after a binge day. Now I start off on the right foot and have at least some fruit.

Once Little Guy was on the bus Little Bean had his breakfast…

…and let me tell you, he ate, Like a PIG! Click here to see what he had.

For an early lunch I ate a leftover pork chop and some roasted pumpkin with cumin.

Then Little Bean and I spent the afternoon shopping with a friend. A few hours in we got hungry and decided to hit the food court. I had a veggie sub at Subway but totally forgot to snap a photo. It was on the 9-grain with provolone, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, pickles, hots, and a squirt of sweet onion teriyaki sauce. My fav!

We came home and some sample muffins were waiting for me in the mailbox. I grabbed a chocolate.

Expect a review post soon. They were pretty good!

Dinner was a chicken breast, roasted acorn squash and peas.

I decided to stay away from the potatoes I made the boys. The squash was much lighter and I can’t get them to eat it anyway.

After dinner I had another one of the sample muffins.

Surprised again! These things are good. More on them later!

That was it. No more food for me today. After dinner I got my pajamas on, brushed my teeth and closed the kitchen. I’m off to bed as I have an early date with the gym tomorrow.

I hope Monday treated you well!

Had a great day! Just popping in to share my food journal. :)

Once I got Little Guy on the bus I made myself a HUGE omelet.

I FINALLY went grocery shopping on Thursday so I actually had fresh food in the house. It was nice. I sautéed some onion, mushroom, peppers and spinach. Was a great combo with the eggs and egg white.

After breakfast I played with Little Bean and got this shot of his new curls.

I posted about it on Baby’s First Year, click here. He’s so stinkin’ cute!

Once he went to nap I had fun in the kitchen! Check this out…

I know it may not look appetizing to some of you, but it was amazing! Click here for the story and recipe.

For dessert I hit up the Christmas cookies.

I just wanted something sweet.

Little Bean woke up just in time for our Scheduled BlogToLose chat. He had fun helping me on the computer…

When Little guy came home from school, I grabbed a yogurt and we went over his day’s work.

Dinner was boneless chicken breast, Roasted Balsamic Cauliflower (click here for recipe) and leftover curried pumpkin I experimented with.

The boys wouldn’t go for the pumpkin so they got baked potatoes instead. I can handle that kind of compromise.

After dinner we played Heroica.

Little Bean was my partner. :)

The only thing not pictured on my food journal was another cookie I had after dinner and the popcorn and hot chocolate I’m enjoying now.

Ok, I’m off to watch Fargo with The Husband. We got sucked into it and will probably stay up too late AGAIN!

I had to step on the scale this morning. I just had to.

Ugh. Not what I wanted to see but totally what I expected.

Hey, I’m ROCKING the weight maintenance. My weight has been consistent since August. That’s a HUGE accomplishment for a prior yo-yo dieter. In my previous life I was only ever in 1 of 2 states: losing or gaining.

Of course I want to lose these last 10lbs, but right now may not be the best time to get all gung-ho with the weight loss goals. With Christmas in less than 3 weeks, The Husband’s birthday a few days before, a holiday cookie decorating date with Little Guy and an office Christmas party to attend (SO excited I get to dress up for something!) it’s just not realistic. Notice I didn’t say impossible. Of course, anything’s possible. I just don’t want the pressure during the holidays.

Why do that to yourself?

Nope, I’m simply going to keep doing what I’m doing: staying conscious and making good choices. It may seem like it’s not working in the weight loss department when the scale doesn’t actually go down, but it is and it will.

On to my day in food! I must admit, this whole food photo journal things is getting really fun for me.

The day started out with an old favorite…

Quick Whole Grain Banana Pancakes – Click here for the recipe.

Mid-morning I made a snack…

It looks fancy because I had to do a recipe photo shoot for The Laughing Cow (I’m one of their Community Leaders.) I’ll be posting the recipe for the pinwheels on The Laughing Cow blog in a few weeks.

Lunch was AMAZING!

I had some leftover steak so I whipped up a Cheesesteak Wrap. SO good.

While making dinner Little Bean had some Snapea Crisps and so did I.
