Hey guys! I finally feel like I’m finding a bit of balance again. I’m trying to take my own advice and hold on to the What You Can When You Can mindset without overanalyzing, selling myself short, comparing myself to others and (the kicker) trying to be perfect.

I have yet again come to the conclusion that I am my own worst enemy in almost all areas of my life where I think I’m struggling.
That said, I’m here to share today’s Whole30-esque food journal and a quick note on blog comments.
I have decided to follow more of a Whole30 approach to my diet after having some pretty nasty digestive issues when returning to a more lax and semi-junkish food choices. As per my usual, nothing is off limits but I’m focusing on the Whole30 food list with the addition of rice, quinoa, some alcohol and not worrying so much about added sugar here and there. It’s been a few days and I already feel 100 percent better. Way less bloat for sure!
Pre-Breakfast (No Picture)
I was up at 5 and decided to get my butt to the gym. I noticed that when I wait and think, “Oh I’ll just do it after work,” that it sometimes doesn’t happen. I simply get too busy and distracted. So I’m back at doing it first thing whenever I can.
Anyway, I grabbed a banana on my way out the door.
Today’s workout was killer and when I got home, even though my stomach was growling I has ZERO desire to cook. So I made a quick smoothie.
Well, it ended up to be the best smoothie ever! Even the 10-year-old agreed! It was …
- 1/2 banana
- Frozen mixed berries (including cherries amd cranberries)
- 1/4 avocado
- Pasteurized egg whites
- Coconut water
- Cocoa powder
Once I got the kids off to school I had a few chores to do around the house. I cleaned up, made rice and quinoa for tonight’s dinner, got a little work done (see note about comments below) and practiced guitar. In the middle of all that I used the rest of my homemade chicken broth, added some leftover cooked chicken, and and enjoyed a bowl of super simple chicken soup. It totally hit the spot.
This weekend I made myself a wonderful chili-like dish for weekday lunches. It came out amazing! I didn’t really take notes to post on GreenLiteBites as it was very similar to my last recipe, chicken, sweet potatoes and apple stew. Truth be told I’m losing my motivation to post on GreenLiteBites because I’m eating cleaner and cleaner and my dishes are all pretty weird and similar — protein, veggies and spices in a pot. Plus sometimes, being exact enough to share a recipe sucks the fun out of it. I like to be organic about it and just throw stuff in the pot. When I do I end up with yumminess like this…
My latest creation is ground turkey, eggplant, mushrooms, a jalapeno, a large sweet potato, cumin, thyme, and homemade chicken broth. I top it with cubed avocado that I cut at work.
I’m staying away from wheat for the moment as I think it may be one of my digestive culprits so I turned a dish I normally make with homemade pasta into a rice and quinoa one.
That’s shrimp, broccoli and garlic sautéed with coconut oil and olive oil and then tossed with the quinoa-rice mixture. It was delicious!
A note about blog comments…
Now that blogging isn’t my full-time gig I’ve been finding it hard to keep up with all the little tasks that need to be done when managing websites. One of those tasks is comment management. Today for example I logged into RonisWeigh only to discover more than 23,000 spam comments – – some captured by my spam checker plus about 100 that were not.
I have to do a massive clean up every few days not only here but also on GreenLiteBites — TheUnworldlyTravelers not too much but that’s because It’s a fairly young, unpopular and rarely updated blog (I hope to remedy that soon).
Anyway, this morning I finally had enough, so I decided to turn off comments on any posts older than five days old. Instead of the comment form on older posts you will now see this message:
