One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Grocery Shopping in the Morning and Other #wycwyc Stories

Here I am bright and early at 7:30 in the morning in the GROCERY STORE!

early grocery store trip

So far my morning’s gone like this…

  • 5:20 a.m. woke up… couldn’t sleep… might as well go to the gym.
  • 6-7 a.m. work on some lifts.
  • 7:15 a.m take out the recyclables and the 10-Year-Old to his before school computer club.
  • 7:30 a.m. hit the grocery store on the way home.
  • 8:30 -9:30 a.m. unpack groceries, make breakfast, play Memory with the 4-Year-old and get him ready for pre-K

That brings me to now. It’s around 10 and I have to head back to the gym in a bit for work but I thought I’d sneak this in first because it’s going to be a jam-packed day!

First, I am KILLING it on Whole30 so far. I think it’s getting easier. Is that possible? I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak, but right now I’m still loving it. I really needed a little nudge to get excited about eating healthfully again and this did it for me.

The key, really, is being prepared and if I make the effort (like taking advantage of free hour in the morning while The 4-Year-Old hung out with The Husband) I think the 30 days will be a breeze. So I’m channeling my inner #wycwyc guru and simply following my own advice.

Speaking of #wycwyc, Charlie wrote the most amazing review of the book on his blog — click here to read it. He makes me laugh out loud.  And he’s’ so right. There was definitely a high with the release of the book followed by a pretty big dip in my excitement about it. That was another reason I was struggling the past few months with my motivation and mood.

In other news, The California Avocado Commission asked if I would work again with them this year, and of course I said yes! This time I’ll be recipe developing for their blog instead of GreenLiteBites but it’s all the same to me. I get loads of avocados to experiment with and that always inspires me.

The only other news I need to share is that it looks like I’ll be sticking around and working at the gym for the time being. We had to work out some details about salary and such and right now all looks good, which is great because I’m really enjoying it.  I’ve got 25 members signed up and participating in the Whole30 challenge and 44 of you in our group!

I love it!

OK, I’ve got to go to work. I was hoping to hop in a for a quick shower but it didn’t happen. You’ll have this. :)

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Truthfully? 7:30 am at the store sounds awesome. In fact, anything that involves “very few to no people” sounds awesome to me.

Hi Roni, I’ve been meaning to write a comment for a while letting you know that I found your #wycwyc book at the library in my itty bitty blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Ontario town. Maybe not a bit deal to you, but it really impressed me. Books are great the way they can spread across the masses, and trickle into the smallest places. Anyway, really excited to get my hands on it – there’s a waiting list! :)
