Rope Climbs and Coconut Muffins!

I’m choosing to focus on the positives today and there were two big ones!

First, I made awesome muffins with the 4-Year-Old this morning — click here for the Coconut Milk Muffins With Banana and Clementines recipe.

He doesn’t like to help as much as his brother did at this age but I still try. Normally, I can get him to crack an egg at least.

Anyway, the muffins came out great and I was reminded once again how much fun and rewarding it is for me to be in the kitchen. Sometimes, especially when I get busy, I forget how much I enjoy it. It’s hard to get back to cooking just like it’s hard to take those first few steps on a run or get out of bed to go to the gym when it’s still dark. It’s like the little bit of effort prevents me from doing something I really want to do, but when I finally suck it up I’m so so very happy I did.

Does that make sense?

Anyway, the second thing I’m super proud of…

Today I did true rope climbs during a workout at the gym!

I’ve been able to climb the rope for a few months now but not well enough to do it during a workout. The last time we had them programmed I only went to the 10 foot mark. Today, however, I rang that bell at the top four times — once during warm up and three times during the workout.

I was smiling ear-to-ear.

Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishing something I couldn’t do just a few months before. Not to mention, something I could never do even as a child!

It feels really good!

See, now all the little negative things that were stressing me out today don’t seem as bad. :)

    I haven’t tried a rope in sooo many years. My biggest fear was trying to get back down!

    Holy moly, way to go on the rope climb! I’m soooo thankful I never had to do them in all my years of gym class. :) And I TOTALLY agree with this sentence of yours:
    “Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishing something I couldn’t do just a few months before”. A moment like this happened to me in my fitness class and I was beaming and wanting to cry happy tears at the same time.

      Yes! That rang so true for me too. I’ve managed a couple of moves in yoga recently that I remember really struggling with when I first started and it’s like “YES! High five me! We made it :)”. Does that make me mental talking to myself like that? Haha
