One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Sleep, Glorious Sleep

Yet again I had all intentions of blogging last night until I fell asleep on the couch around 8:30 p.m.

I dragged my sleeping body upstairs at 11, I think, like a zombie and then continued to sleep until 6 this morning. It was the first time in weeks, months even, that I slept all night. No crying or coughing kids woke me up. No snoring husband. No cat pouncing on my head at 3 a.m. Not even my two customary pee breaks kept me from the glorious slumber.

This may be the longest I’ve slept in years!

Regular, consistent and good sleep is for sure the last healthy living puzzle piece for me. I stay up too late, get up really early and have kids that usually follow the two sleep-centric Murphy’s Laws of parenting.

  1. When you can sleep in they wake early and when you can’t they sleep in.
  2. When you stay up too late and have an early morning your child will wake up in the middle of the night either crying, coughing, or puking.

That’s why I’m so shocked about last night. Neither of those things happened!

Anyway, I’m writing this in the morning for a change. I’ve been experimenting with some new potential schedules that wouldn’t have me going to the gym at the butt crack of dawn every day of the week, especially now when there are a few nights I stay late there to meet new members and such.

Everything’s been going great lately. I’m really enjoying myself at the gym and the initial madness of starting a new position is beginning to die down a little. I went in fast and furious to make changes I thought were really necessary to set the gym on the right track, and now that most are in place I can slow down a little. Although, I have a problem with slow. My mind is already swimming with new ideas for fun events we can host and services we can offer.

On a more personal note, I’ve been feeling really good lately. My nighttime snacking has been a bit out of control but I’ve been eating great overall.

Oddly I’ve been out on breakfast lately. No traditional breakfast foods sound even remotely appetizing, which is odd because I’ve lived on eggs for breakfast the last few years and loved them. Now I’m trying everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to smoothies. Yesterday I made this…

Which, yes, did look like a pile of poop but it was absolutely delicious and chock full of healthy stuff like banana, blueberries, avocado, spinach, egg whites and cocoa powder.

OK, I have to sign off and start this day. Evan actually just woke up at 7 a.m. That’s a first! He rarely sleeps past 6. Maybe there’s just something in the air?

Have a great day!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Good to know that you had a tight sleep last night. Can you suggest if we use bananas during diet / exercise as some are saying strictly no. But I can see banana in your breakfast!

Bahaha My 12 and 11 year olds just walked by as I was reading this and said, “Ewww. That looks like poop! What is that?” I scrolled down and you admittedly agreed. :) We all cracked up. Too funny.

The image of this smoothie was burned into my brain yesterday, but I was surprised at the chances of seeing it again on the Facebook feed of a fellow bus commuter last night! (I’m no creeper, her laptop screen was reflecting on the window right next to me, and that photo is hard to forget). You must have a huge reach on FB, because there were only about 15 people on that bus.
