Gym Updates and Certification City!

The gym job is going great and I’m really, REALLY, enjoying myself. I forgot how much fun it was just to be around people all day interacting, solving problems and accomplishing things.

In the past month I’ve made my mark on the gym…

Organizing a weekly yoga class.

In addition, I’ve been learning and managing our member database, increasing our social presence and, really, just trying to tie the community back together again.

Tomorrow we have three teams participating at a local competition. I’m on one of them and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really been able to connect with my normal 6 a.m. workout group and I miss them. This will give us a chance to just hang out. Plus, the weather is supposed to be beautiful!

Besides all the hands-on gym stuff the kids have been a handful. Ryan is in lots of clubs at school. Both boys have soccer winding down. And, you know, I actually like my husband and want to spend time with him, too! Plus, I need to really start studying for the CrossFit Level 1 certification course I’m taking in a few weeks. I read the materials a few months back but it’s time to really hit the books. Especially because a few weeks later I’ll be taking the CrossFit Kids certification course!

That’s right. I registered! TODAY!!

I was ecstatic they opened up a session just outside of Philly, only an hour and a half away. It’s Dec 12 and 13, which means if all goes well I’ll be kicking off 2016 with two fitness certifications!

I can honestly say I never saw this coming. When I launched this blog I was a new mom and an assistant professor at a community college teaching technology courses and just trying to break out of my yo-yo dieting cycle. Never in a million years would I have predicted this career change from technologist to fitness professional. I didn’t even predict the second kid! Ha!

Anyway, life is good and I hope to get back into the groove of blogging more regularly again. I find it’s not so much time that prevents me from posting but mental energy. After spending the day working on gym stuff and family stuff my brain simply needs a break.

I’ll post updates from the competition tomorrow, both on my Instagram account and the gym’s. It should be a really fun competition!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

You are certainly a symbol for not having should of, could of, or would have in one’s life.
Congrats on all your hard work coming out well for you.

Hey Roni – I was wondering if you have a post about cross fit anywhere? I dont recall seeing one, but I have been tinkering with the idea of trying out a cross fit gym, however I am terrified. Any tips for picking a gym/program, anything? I want to add cross fit to change up my workouts, increase strength training and toning – and I am also still on my weight loss journey with over 100 lbs to lose. I currently hit the gym for cardio and weight machines about 3 times a week, if that helps with your recommendations.

I have one when I initially started just explaining why I like it so much…. http://ronisweigh.com/2013/02/5-reasons-why-love-crossfit.html

I will work on a tips one for you! In the mean time I would visit any local gyms that are in your area and ask if you can drop in. This way you can get a sense of the coaching and culture of the gym. I drop in a lot and it’s really fascinating to see how different CrossFit gyms can be across the board.

I know CrossFit isn’t for everyone but if you like working out in a group and being challenged I would for sure give it a try!
