I Needed a Sensational Sunday Reminder

2 Comments 1347 views

Eight years ago I started the tradition of Sensational Sundays. Since then I’ve (fairly) regularly posted about seizing my Sundays, sharing fun photos and setting the tone for my week.

Lately, I just haven’t had the energy to seize them as I once did. I’d rather stay in, chill with the family and just recharge.

And for some reason I was feeling guilty about this until I realized it’s exactly what I need right now and it’s exactly what Sensational Sundays are all about.

Today went like this…

Waffle making with the kids in the morning.

I used this recipe.

After breakfast I took the boys grocery shopping to stock up for the week. That’s when this happened.

How cute are they?!?

Starting last week I now work at the gym on Sundays. I head in at 10 a.m. to open it up for members, get a little cleaning done and work on some admin stuff. I’ve also organized yoga classes, which I hope to make a regular offering.

CrossFitters need more yoga in their lives. We just do.

When I got home The Husband had already pulled out the Halloween stuff.

The kids love it!

We all ate lunch together and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. I did a load of laundry, straightened up, took a bath.

That was about it until dinner time.

I spatchcocked a chicken and roasted some red potatoes alongside.

This is a family favorite and super easy.

The best part: I now have this simmering on the stove for homemade chicken soup tomorrow!

After dinner The Husband headed out to tennis and I made banana oat cups for the kids.

That’s about it. It was a great Sunday!

What else could I possibly ask for?

I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving and your post was a lovely reminder about all the things we have to be thankful for…family, fitness, fun, food and more family!

Funny, our weekends, Sundays in particular, have been lower key, too. And, I was also feeling guilty! It was on a family walk with the dogs that it dawned on me that this slower pace is what we all need! My kids treasure all memories: those made at home and on day trips. Decorating for Halloween and walking the dogs is as important as museums and state parks. I guess it is all about balance.
