Before I left for Ohio I printed out all the CrossFit level 1 certification paperwork. I figured it would keep me busy in the evenings while here. However, I’ve been too exhausted and unmotivated to start reading until tonight.
I must say now it’s sucking me in. I feel like I’m peeking behind the curtain. My position since starting CrossFit (all exercise, really) was to trust the trainers. I just wanted to show up, be told what to do and let someone else worry about the details. It’s even one of the reasons I listed for falling in love with CrossFit in the first place!
But after 2 and a half years into I’m getting more and more confident. My lifts aren’t AS horrible as they used to be. I’m intrigued by what goes into programming the workouts. And I am starting to notice form on others, what they do right and wrong. Plus, if I’m going to work with kids, which is what I want to do, I want to have the fundamentals down pat.
If I feel like I have a good grasp on the material I may sign up for the course in early October. It’s two days of hands-on training and then a test.
On the dog training front, all is going well.
We had another mall trip, I’ve taken him to a busy grocery store without any problems and today we practiced all the behavior disruption commands that we also put into practice a few times.
Yesterday I posted the last in my hotel cooking series…
… although we hit the store again so I may share one more idea.
That’s all for me tonight. I’m planning on going to bed early. I hit the gym at 6 this morning and will tomorrow as well. I’m enjoying the change in workouts dropping in all week. It’s actually fascinating comparing the programming there to what my gym offers while reading the training guide.
