Going Through the Motions

9 Comments 35517 views

I’m on auto-pilot at the moment while I battle an insane head cold. Going through the motions is working because even though I still feel like crap I’ve accomplished a few things and that always helps me feel better.

I’m going to cut this short and leave you with two things. Then I’m off to bed to watch Orange is the New Black.

  1. This week’s podcast is up on #wycwyc! We recorded today, too. I love chatting with Carla. She’s like a breath of fresh air.
  2. I snagged this video of the 4-Year-Old at dinner tonight.

    They crack me up!

Ok, I’m off to drown my sorrows in NyQuil. :)

Food Journal

  • 8 a.m. Grapefruit and Egg White Smoothie with added baby spinach.
  • 10:45 a.m. a bite of jerky before podcast recording. My stomach was growling.
  • 12:30 p.m. Smoked turkey, sausage, cole slaw and corn bread out with The Husband.
  • 3:45 p.m. green tea with honey and lemon for my throat. I feel like crap.
  • 6:30 p.m. grilled steak, ear of corn, grilled broccoli and watermelon for dessert.
  • 8 p.m. peanut butter and Triscuits with the 4-year-old
  • 9:30 p.m. I pulled out some homemade broth from the freezer to soothe my throat.

Activity Journal

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I hope you feel better soon Roni! I believe that summer is the absolutely worse time to have a cold. Make sure to take care of yourself. You’ve been running full speed ahead for so long now, your body is telling you it needs some downtime.

You might think that’s cute now, but you might want to teach your kids to chew with their mouths closed, and table manners. Sorry, I’m a regular reader and I don’t see the cute in that at all, especially the way he spoke to his father at the last second of the video. I have 2 boys also, 19 & 20, and I still get comments on how polite they act, which is surprising as I thought all children should be taught manners.

You raised yours and now I’ll raise mine. My kids are polite and I do teach them manners but we also aren’t formal all the time. This was a laid back family dinner around our island midweek. Right now it’s hard enough to get my 4-year-old to eat anything so that’s what I’m focused on. The fact that we all sit down nightly to enjoy each others company and spend family time together when many don’t even do that anymore is a win in my book. So judge away. I’m proud of my open mouth singing kids and when we are at a more formal dinner they will show off their good manners which we also get complimented on when we are out.

Wow. Who are you to judge? I think this is super cute! Because he is singing and being silly with food in his mouth, in his home, thus means he has no manners? I want to be shocked by reading this, but sadly I’m not. This world is so full of judgmental people and even more so on the internet. Roni, you are doing an amazing job with your boys!! Keep raising them the way you see fit, and screw anyone else’s opinions ♡

I wonder if it’s the traveling or what that causes the head cold/sinus stuff? We traveled and all came back with sore throats and messed up noses that have turned into coughs. I kinda thought maybe it was the hotel AC. Anyway, my kids get complimented for manners tons, but at home we all just try to enjoy each other and do get a little goofy. And my kids aren’t allowed to disrespect their parents but your son at the end saying that to his daddy sounded like how my son and hubby act when they are just goofing off together. You are definitely right about most families not even sitting down together for a meal anymore. We definitely try to make that a priority!
