One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

A Solo Sensational Sunday

This weekend I was flying solo with both kids while The Husband went on an overnight golf trip with Grandpa.

Yesterday we had a birthday party in the morning and then I had a hair appointment, which took me weeks to get. I was worried about bringing the kids but they actually did a great job entertaining themselves.

Isn’t it great when your kids pleasantly surprise you?

Last night I made another batch of experimental avocado cookies.

I think these will be the ones I share on GreenLiteBites. They were AMAZING out of the oven. The kids and I have been picking at them all day.

Once Evan went to bed, Ryan and I stayed up late watching movies. I really wanted him to see Selma and he’s been begging me to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes so we had a mother-son double feature.

We watched Selma first and then I fell asleep half way through Planet of the Apes (I already saw and loved it) and he thought it was just the coolest thing staying up past midnight to watch movies.

It’s the little things. :)

This morning started slow. He slept in while Evan and I cuddled and watched cartoons. Then we decided to have breakfast outside. It was gorgeous!

I had my new obsession The Ultimate Breakfast Avocado Toast — SO GOOD!

We got dressed and headed to the trails.

This was my way to get my #milestreak in while entertaining the kids.

Ohh, who am I kidding…I would have done it anyway! I love taking the kids on the trails!

This one is at the peak of 9-year-old goofiness just 8 days before his 10th birthday….

He said, “Look Mom! I’m a  tree hugger!”

This one is a 4-year-old chatterbox. The kids NEVER STOPS TALKING.

Together they are a handful but so, so fun.

We hiked for 2 miles part way on the trails, part way in the river. We took a spur up the hill and I carried Evan on my shoulders for the last 1/2 mile.

Afterwards we were hungry but I really didn’t have anything for lunch. So we decided to go home quick, change and head to one of our favorite local restaurants.

We shared 2 lunch specials and and some sushi.

I love that the 9-year-old is hooked on sushi rolls. He tried to master the chopsticks unsuccessfully again. lol

After lunch we stopped by Aldi to stock up on groceries for the week. When we got home the kids played outside while I put everything away. Then we finished folding the laundry just when Dad walked through the door.

That’s about it. I’m now ready to settle in and watch Game of Thrones with The Husband. :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

I can’t believe you commented about your hair appointment and then didn’t include a picture of your new ‘do! :)

Hi Roni, we’re in Baltimore for Thanksgiving this year (yay!) and I’m looking for a trail to hike with the kids (9 and 7 yo). Where are these pics from? Look amazing! Any other trails you’d recommend? Thanks!
