Our first full day in New Orleans was AWESOME!! We are truly having a blast. The city has such an awesome vibe, the food is amazing, it’s warm and friendly and being here during the French Quarter Fest allows us to hear lots of great music.
I started the day with a run to a local CrossFit gym. It may seem crazy but it works out as The Husband likes to sleep in and I don’t. So I get up early, see a bit of the city alone, meet some locals and get a workout in.
It’s honestly one of my favorite things to do when traveling.
This was me after a fun, intense partner workout. I was paired up with a younger guy and I think I impressed him. We kept pace with the other guy-guy team and he seemed shocked. It was cracking me up.
I’m not going to lie. I like being the old lady at the gym holding my own with the young bucks. I made it back to the hotel and The Husband and I hit the town.
After strolling through the Quarter we settled in at The Swamp, a bar on Bourbon Street.
We met lots of people, drank and The Husband got to watch the Masters. We really couldn’t have had a better time.
Then we were all about dinner with friends who took us to Frenchman Street for more drinks and some awesome music.
I would love to tell you more but I’ve got to go. We have another full day ahead of us!
- 10:30 a.m. FitAide on the walk back from the gym.

It’s Beignet time! A photo posted by Roni Noone (@roninoone) on
- 2:30 p.m. French Quarter Fest street food — alligator sausage kabobs and a few bites of The Husband’s crab cake.
- 6 p.m. Dinner at Cochon with The Dubyas! I had a sausage appetizer, an awesome salad and rabbit and dumplings — something I’ve never heard of and figured I’d never get a chance to try again. It. Was. Amazing!!
- Throughout the day: A few beers, and a crazy drink at The Swamp.
