I’ve been wanting to post about this since Christmas! That’s when my awesome mother-in-law got me quite possibly the best gift ever — she has a habit of doing that.

When I opened it on Christmas morning I didn’t quit know what it was. Then I realized what I was holding was the answer to my icky CrossFit hands.

I just knew it!

If you aren’t a CrossFitter you may not know about CrossFit Hands. I’m not sure if that’s the official term but that’s what I call them. Basically, when you do CrossFit (or any repetitive activity where you grip a bar) you will start to form callouses here, here and here…

At least that’s where I get them most.

If you don’t take care of your hands properly the callouses can rip while you’re working out. Just do an image search for CrossFit hands and you’ll see some nasty stuff.

This happened to me once a few months after I started CrossFit and I swore it would never happen again.

So I started to treat my hands with a moisturizer and callus shaver like this

Not fun but it was doing the job and helping me prevent tears for over a year. Until this past Christmas that is.

Now, all I use is the Amopé Pedi Perfect Electronic Pedicure Foot File and my hands have never been smoother!

I know I sound like an infomercial but it’s true!

When my mother-in-law bought it for me I’m sure she expected me to use it on my feet. However, this is how I looked all Christmas morning.

TMI? Possibly, but others need to know how awesome this thing is! I will never shave my callouses again!

I do use it on my feet as well because running also tends to create some nasty foot issues.

The Husband thinks I’m crazy but this thing seriously was my favorite gift of the year. I didn’t even know it existed a couple of months ago and now I can’t live without it.

    I used to have this problem but I use workout gloves now and I love them – did you ever try gloves? Is there a reason crossfitters never seem to wear gloves? I’ve always wondered if people think chalk is better and why. (I did crossfit for a few months last year & I definitely don’t miss the chalk dust in my lungs & everywhere!)

      I used to but I don’t really like the way they feel. I do have gymnast straps that I pull out when I’m working on pull ups but overall I don’t wear anything.

      I’m also not a big calk person. I only use it when I’m particularly sweaty.

    I don’t crossfit but I do do some weights, as well as an equalizer class, both of which give me those nasty spots on my hands. I recently found the gloves for $5 at Marshall’s and have been using those. They’re not super comfortable – they’re stiff across the backs – but they make me feel kind of tough, which I like! Like, “Look at me, I need WEIGHT GLOVES!” LOL. I have one of these callous things, I never thought of using it on my hands, good idea!
