Sensational Sunday Food Planning

Happy Sensational Sunday!

This week I decided to bring back weekly food planning.  Normally I don’t go this route. I’m more of a pantry cook, keeping things in stock and taking it day-by-day. But as the kids get older and our schedules get busier I’m finding it harder to cook on a whim, so I decided to look ahead all week.

Inspired by our vacation planning, I used Trello and it worked great!

I created a “dinner planning” board and then added a list for this week.

The last item is a shopping list and I was able to access it on my phone and check things off at the store!

The Husband has access to it as well so we can plan together. Although, I’m pretty sure I’ll be planning and he’ll be looking at my plan.

Anyway, day 1 was a success!

Tomorrow I plan on making homemade sauce. It’s supposed to be snowy and I love having something cooking on the stove during a snowstorm.

Other than my planning and shopping (the boys came) — it was great! And no, I’m not being sarcastic. I didn’t do much today. Actually, the whole weekend was a lazy one.

It was nice.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I have any list which is similar. I can share it with hubster. I also have the cousin called anydo which is like a things to do list and reminds you of things you need to get done.

I plan all of our meals each week. Lately I’ve been prepping slow cooker meals on Sunday for the whole week plus eggs fit breakfast. It’s a real time saver with busy schedules!

It really is, like one less thing to worry about day-to-day.

Trello? I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this. I love any app that gives you more freedom from planning out meals far in advance, and uses the things you still have in the pantry. I’m so bad at using up what I have, and just getting new stuff for new recipes constantly, I think I’m going to check this out.

It’s not really a meal planning tool, I’m just using it that way. It worked great though!

I always plan meals…it just makes it easier to know that I have everything on hand. I created a spreadsheet that basically shows every meal I know how to make with each protein (so under chicken I have chicken tacos, enchiladas, stirfry, etc). bi-weekly I go and pick 10 things to cook and make grocery list. I’m going to give trello a try. I love apps and organizational “things”. haha.
