Geesh.. I took one day off from the blog and now I feel like I have a million things to tell you! I’m going to have to take a good, old-fashioned brain-dump bullet-point approach. Here goes…
1. Test out week
Today was the last day of my gym’s test out week and, without beating around the bush, selling myself short or lacking any sort of confidence… I KILLED IT!
That’s my current notebook. I increased my 1 rep max PRs in Back Squat, Bench Press, Snatch, Dead Lift, Front Squat and the Full Squat Clean.
To say I feel good about this week is an understatement. I’m on cloud nine. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than knowing I’m making progress at the gym and getting stronger. It just makes me feel accomplished and happy!
2. Might as well jump!
This morning I took the kids to a birthday party at one of those bouncy places and, yet again, I was the only mom running around like a lunatic, giggling down the slides and jumping with the kids.
It’s my #wycwyc on so many levels.
Ryan was all about the dodgeball.
Evan is really into slides.
Both of them are a trip! Which reminds me…
I finally got a chance to see Boyhood last night and I enjoyed it. Totally different than I thought it was going to be. But as a child of a divorced family and a parent myself now, it was a true-to-life, coming-of-age story that captivated me as I watched the characters age.
4. GI progress!
Despite my departure from the low-FODMAP diet (it wasn’t really addressing my specific issues) I have found relief in TWO DAYS with 2 supplements.
- Psyllium husk – Recommended by a few people in the comments, I did some research and decided there would be no harm in giving it a try. I’ve been taking it with meals since Thursday.
- Align probiotic – My doctor and a few folks I’ve talked to in person mentioned probiotics so I decided to take the leap. I’ve been taking one a day since Thursday.
For the first time in, I don’t know how long (years?) I’ve had a “normal” bathroom experience. My diet has still been clean, no lactose, limited processed foods and wheat. I’m even staying away from chocolate!
I’m a little mad at myself for starting both the psyllium husk and probiotics at the same time so I don’t know if it’s the two of them together making the difference or one of them specifically. Over time I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

I posted about this on wycwyc.com. I know, I’m a big dork but his tweet totally made me smile.
6. FitBloggin’ updates
This week I made lots of progress on the FitBloggin’ front. I’m still behind where I normally am at this time BUT the schedule is starting to come together, I just posted the applications for assistantships, and sponsors are being secured!
7. Avocado love
I made that salad yesterday and it was amazing. I shared the recipe and my avocado history on GreenLiteBites because, honestly, I never thought I would like them as much as I do know.
8. 20 YEARS tomorrow!
I’m writing this really quick before heading out on a date with The Husband. Tomorrow is our TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY! I’m sorry but I can’t wrap my head around it. If we’ve been together for 20 years then I’m not 20 anymore and I still feel 20. Well, at least IN my 20s. Yet here I am on the way out of my 30s!
That’s crazy talk!
We’ve both known each other longer than we haven’t known each over and it blows our minds.
Anyway, there’s the brain dump. I feel like a forgot a few things but I’ve got to go. Babysitter will be here soon!
