Helloooo from Vegas!
Yesterday morning The Husband and I got up bright and early for our flight. Those of you who’ve been reading for some time may know these are two feats not easily made. Not only did he wake up before 6 a.m. he agreed to fly! I wrote a bit more about that over on TheUnworldlyTravelers — click here.
We’re staying at Paris and it’s wonderful!
We spent the day just hanging out, napping, walking, exploring and, well eating! I didn’t take food photos as I’m giving myself a small break but there are two things I have to share. The first is the “Simple Salad” from the Sugar Factory. It was amazingly simple but oh so delicious. Butter lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese with a white balsamic vinaigrette and cocoa nibs — COCOA NIBS! Never in a million years would I have considered putting cocoa nibs on a salad! It was SO good!
The second was the Tatted Up Turkey Burger from Guy Fieri’s new restaurant at The Linq. With poblano peppers mixed in and served on a pretzel bun, I was in heaven.
After dinner we had a few drinks and people watched. It was nice to be out together just chatting.
This morning I had an early morning appointment at the spa.
The Husband wanted to sleep in and I just can’t so I decided to splurge. I got a sport massage and added on some hot stones. Look for a review of the spa on TheUnworldlyTravleres in a few weeks. I took some photos and will post more thoughts when I have time.
After lunch with The Husband I strolled down to the expo to pick up my race packet.
After much internal debate and pondering I have decided to attempt the full. I know many of you won’t agree as most comments recommended I drop down to the half but I needed to make the right choice for me.
Yes, there is a risk of injury but that’s true whenever you attempt to push yourself physically. When I stepped back to evaluate why I participate in events in the first place, who I am and what I want to experience, attempting the full was the only choice that excited me. It’s true there are some serious cut-off times and if I can’t make it, I can’t make it. I’ve decided I’m OK with that more than I am stepping down to the half, a distance I know I can handle without a problem.
Truth be told I want to be waiting on the finish line tomorrow with those pre-event butterflies, staring down an event that will push me out my comfort zone and challenge me.
I’m nervous but really, really excited, too!
Once I got back from the expo the Husband and I went up the Eiffel Tower (another comfort zone push for The Husband!)
The view was beautiful!
Right now we are relaxing a bit before dinner. We have late reservations at Gordon Ramsay Steak House and we’re going to get all dressed up for another night on the town.
Marathon or no marathon I’m having a blast! Tomorrow will be interesting to say the very least! If you follow me on Facebook, updates with my status on the course will be posted automatically (note: this is my personal Facebook account not my fan page as they won’t send auto updates there). I may also tweet and Instagram but with the tight times I’m not sure I will be able to mid-race like I did last time. I’m playing it all by ear at this point.
OK, wish me luck. This is going to be an adventure!
