Happy Sensational Sunday!
Yet again I have so much to post and not enough time to do it. There’s no way I’m missing The Walking Dead with The Husband so I need to make this super quick!
Our weekend began Friday with The 9-Year-Old’s fall festival at school. The kids dressed up and we danced in the school gym. Honestly, I had a ball. I wasn’t kidding when I said I want to dance like no one’s watching. I Love It came on and Little Bean and I were jumping all over the place. It’s one of our favorite songs — click here to see him jamming to it last year.
I only took this one picture.
I love how close they are becoming.
Saturday was jam packed! Soccer game in the morning, errands, and then the community Halloween parade. Again, forcing myself to live with no regrets, I (we) all went in full costume.
Yes siree we nailed the family theme this year! The last time we successfully did this was 2011 when we went as the Scooby family!
As you can tell, we REALLY liked the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
After the parade The Husband and I had a date night planned, which almost didn’t happen because our babysitter canceled. Thankfully a friend stepped up at the last minute and we were able to see John Wick.
Loved it! Not the best movie of the year or anything but a good old-fashioned revenge story with too much violence and a heavy dose of comic relief. It didn’t take itself too seriously.
This morning we woke up and hit the ground running. I was feeling all sorts of motivated.
First I played Magformers with the kids.
I highly recommend these if you are looking for a fun kid gift this holiday season.
Both my kids love them as do I. Of course, they build and then smash but I guess that’s part of their appeal.
While the kids kept building I did a few of the exercises the PT taught me for my “weak ass.”
When I was done I started the laundry and threw some stuff in the crock pot knowing we wouldn’t be home in time to make dinner.
That’s chicken, sausage, an onion, orange pepper, garlic, thyme, sage, bay leaves, beef broth and a can of pumpkin with some steel-cut oats. The result? Well, you’ll see!
With all morning chores started I decided to go for a run.
I wasn’t planning on going that far but I was feeling fantastic! And the fall weather was just too perfect.
This run restored my hope for the marathon but I’m not making any decisions yet. I’m just going to keep slowly increasing my distances and see if I can build back up.
When I got home a made a huge brunch for everyone before we headed to Maize Quest.
Maize Quest is a yearly tradition for us. We’ve been going even since before we had kids! It’s more than just a corn maze it’s a whole park of mazes!
Today we met my mom and Judy there. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day! Here are my favorite shots…
The traditional mid-jump shot.
Cousins on the hay bales.
Playing Horsey with the flag.
Brothers holding hands.
We did it!!
Colored fingers from the bamboo maze.
Made it to the center of the Labyrinth!
We had an amazing time! Both kids barely complained, whined or fought! It was like the parenting gods were smiling on us!
Oh! and I turned on the walking app in S Health and it mapped our entire trek through the maize!
How cool is that?!? We walked almost 2 miles in there!
We got home around 6:30 and dinner was waiting for us. All I had to do was add some frozen peas.
It was amazing!! Even the 9-year-old ate it. I was shocked! Best part — now I have leftovers all week. I will try and post more details on GreenLiteBites.
That’s it! That was our amazing weekend!
I hope you had a good one. I’ve got to go. There’s laundry that needs folding and our sheets are still in the dryer. Ugh.
