5 Samples That Have Turned Into My Must-Have Amazon Picks

11 Comments 1712 views

I’m not the biggest online shopper. During the holidays? Sure, I’ll grab a few items when procrastinating work but overall I like to shop in a store where I can touch, feel, try on and read labels. I like exploring new products and, if I didn’t have the kids with me most of the time, I could peruse the grocery store aisles for hours.

However, there are a few products I either can’t find regularly in local stores or are simply only available online, at least in my area. These are items I was asked to sample in the past that today I place regular orders for:

PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter

Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 7.52.53 PMIt took me awhile to hop on this bandwagon but I’m all in now. This stuff is fantastic!

If you’ve never tried it, it is exactly as advertised, powdered peanut butter. The fat and moisture is removed, leaving peanut butter texture without all the extra calories.

My favorite way to use it is mixed with cocoa powder on my cocoa-dusted banana bites. I’ve also put it in oatmeal and made a spicy peanut Thai sauce with it. It’s a really fun, versatile pantry item I now like to keep on hand.

Do not expect to mix it with water and have it taste like peanut butter. It resembled it, sure, but without the fat there’s a completely different mouth feel.

Skinny & Co. Extra Virgin Skinny Coconut Oil

Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 8.01.40 PMAnother product I’m late to adopt is coconut oil. I’m not an oil puller  — frankly, there’s no way in hell I’m trying that ever, sorry — but I do use it for cooking, salad dressing, and lotion. I’ve pan fried chicken in it and even The Husband went gaga. He loved it! It’s also now the only thing I use on my air-popped popcorn and both kids love it, too.

This particular brand is FANTASTIC! Skinny & Co. actually sent me a jar a few months back and to be honest, I just couldn’t see how it would be any different than what I could get in the stores. Well, I must not have been buying the right kind of coconut oil because the flavor of this stuff blew me away!

I don’t think there’s a more useful product in my house. I would bathe in it if I could. I’m serious.

Shirataki Noodles

Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 8.13.51 PMI know. I know. They are marketed as “Skinny Noodles” or “Miracle Noodles” or whatever eye-catching, diet language they can find, but I’m telling you, these things are great!

I didn’t always think so. They smell kind of funny and they are marketed as a pasta replacement, which is ridiculous because they taste nothing like traditional pasta. However, once I learned the secret (dry them out) I was hooked! I actually have 3 recipe ideas using them on GreenLiteBites — click here to check out them out — and I love having them in my pantry for quick light lunches.

They are also my go-to when, for whatever reason, I want to eat to eat even though I’m full. I can’t explain why that happens but it does and I like to be prepared for it instead of eating my weight in Oreo cookies or something.

Simply Snackin’ Assortment

Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 8.33.22 PMRarely do I get sent samples of things that turn into regular buys. (This blog post list is the exception of course.) It’s not that I don’t like the products I try, it’s just that I don’t let myself get hooked on too many things that aren’t readily available Well, two years ago I wrote a review of Simply Snackin’ and I still love them.

Simple ingredients, unique flavors, if you are a jerky person these are for you!

Even Glow Serum

Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 8.45.17 PMI don’t normally post about beauty products because I’m not that much of a beauty girl. I put makeup on maybe 10 times a year, I let my hair (what there is of it) air dry and if I could wear sweats every day I would.

Who am I kidding? I do wear sweats every day!

It’s no secret that I’m getting older, however, and I’ve tried a few anti-aging/anti wrinkle creams here or there but to be honest, I’m not into facial lotion. I don’t like the way most of them feel on my face.

Well, last month the Even Glow Serum folks reached out asking if I’d like a sample. At first I turned them down, telling them I wasn’t a beauty girl. They wrote back, said no obligation and sent me a code to try the serum.

I’ve been using it every night since.

I love the way this stuff feels on my face, and after a couple of weeks I have noticed a difference on some dark spots I have from the sun. I’m not talking drastic, but noticeable.

I had a friend over last week who saw my bottle and said, “Where did you get 20% vitamin C?  I can’t find it anywhere. I swear by this stuff!”

So apparently other people know of its magical powers. I sure didn’t. lol

I ordered my second bottle today and this is now the only stuff I’ve put on my face in weeks.

Check back with me in a few years and we’ll see how my crow’s feet are doing.

Any products you just can’t live without? I love learning and trying new things even though I rarely adopt them as regulars, but you never know!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Ooh I love hearing about products people love. I definitely want to try out that serum-I’ve been trying things to clear up old acne scarring!

I use a vitamin c moisturizer too! I get mine from the drug store though. Can’t think of the name at the moment, but it’s doing the job. Several people have commented on my skin lately. Vitamin c I heard on dr.oz is what plastic surgeons recommend. Lol… So good for the skin!

Maybe vitamin C moisturizer won’t be necessary yet :)

Baltimore area Giants carry PB2, least the Timonium one does, and it’s cheaper than @Amazon.

I’m using this great product that contains nothing but organic botanical oils. Tried it about a year ago and haven’t used anything else since. I was a bit sceptical about using an oil (thought it would be too greasy) but it absorbed in seconds. Everyone comments on how great my skin looks lately. They also make a body oil and a baby oil but I haven’t tried those. You can order it online at www.elabloom.com but I don’t think it’s available through amazon.

HAHA, I was JUST at Big Lots and saw that PB2 and said WTH? Who would ever use that and for what? Now I know. I’ve never seen that Coconut oil, but how do you use it on air popped popcorn?

I just melt and sprinkle on and then top with Sea salt. It’s delicious!
