Boy, did I need this weekend. I really did.
Friday night I hosted about 20 people for an old fashioned, college throwback party. We had a blast drinking cheap beer and playing beer pong. The Husband and I kicked off the evening with a game before guests arrived.
It was so nice to spend time with friends and just relax, especially knowing our only plans Saturday were to watch movies ALL day.
And that’s exactly what we did.
I’m proud of myself. It’s hard for me to not do anything. I’m just not wired that way but I must admit, it was a gloriously lazy day.
We watched, in order:
- A Guy Thing
Stupid mindless comedy but I really like Jason Lee. Plus, it was just starting when I turned on the TV in the morning.
The Husband’s Review: Predictably terrible.
- Sleepwalk with Me
The Husband’s pick. I liked it even though I think Mike Birbiglia made his relationship more dramatic then it needed to be. Overall a fun, quirky movie.
The Husband’s Review: Funny but overly dramatized relationships.
Side note: The Husband and I have a pretty drama free marriage if you can’t tell.
Pretentious. And I mean the movie, not Steve Jobs, although I’m sure he was as well. Unfortunately, it’s about the only word that comes to mind. I wanted to like it but I just didn’t it.
The Husband’s Review: Pointless.
I’ve been wanting to see this movie since college! It was ok, I think I would have liked it more back then. Now it felt a little too artsy for me.
The Husband’s Review: Felt like I was in a schizophrenic’s mind for an hour. I guess that was the point.
- Night of the Creeps
Classic. I’ve seen bit and pieces of it over the years. I’m glad I got a chance to watch it straight through. Fun, mindless comedy/horror. I love it!
The Husband’s Review: A classic. Not too bad for a B-movie. It knows what it is, but good GOD, the main character is a tool.
I AGREE! Even though he’s Rusty from Vacation!
A subtitled crime thriller from Norway that Netflix recommended to us based on my profile and I loved it! Lots of twists and turns AND the actor that plays Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones was in it!
The Husband’s Review: Pretty good thriller. Original plot.
- Hot Rod
A recommendation from Netflix based on The Husband’s profile. I fell asleep half way through. It just didn’t hold my attention even though I really like Andy Samberg.
The Husband’s Review: Silly but it had a couple moments.
The Husband is MAKING me add that we did take a short break from the movies to play Tekken and he kicked my ass just like he used to in college.
He’s bragging. :)
We truly had an amazing day. I think we may need to make this an annual tradition, too, but I’m not sure we’ll be able to swing the two days of childcare yearly.
Today, I woke up and made a sausage and sweet potato casserole for the week.
I need to make it one more time before sharing on GreenLiteBites. It’s a modified recipe based on something one of the trainers from my gym shared. SO yummy and really easy to make ahead for quick meals though the week.
While it was cooking I had some oatmeal topped with a half banana, walnuts and my homemade chocolate syrup. What an amazing combo!
Late morning I hit the trails for a 9-mile marathon training run. Toward the end my left knee wasn’t too happy. I’m hoping it gets used to my increases in distance over the next few weeks.
When I got back, the boys were home from Grandma’s. We ordered lunch from a local BBQ place and just hung out for the rest of the day doing puzzles and playing Uno.
Dinner was a mishmash of leftovers from the BBQ place and I made some coconut-crusted zucchini sticks for myself.
I did get The 3-Year-Old to take a bite but of course no one else wanted them but me.
That’s about it for me and this weekend. I’m SO ready to tackle this week! It’s 9:30 and I have 30 minutes to make it to bed for my sleep goal tonight.
Training is under way!
Hope you had a great weekend!
