Well, this post was a week in the making. I’m not going to write much because, honestly, I’ve been writing up a storm lately and my brain is fried — more about that on Monday, I promise!
I glanced through all the FitBloggin’ Photos on Flickr and snagged a few I wanted to share. I thought I was over the emotional roller coaster FitBloggin’ was for me this year, but I still cried as I clicked from image to image. This post will definitely fill you in on why I’ve been even more than my normal sappy self.
This was one of my favorite shots because Carrie captured exactly how I feel every time I need to grab the mic during the conference.
That was during my first announcement at the Welcome Mixer.
I got over the fear, I always do, and as the weekend goes on I feel more and more comfortable in front of such a large group.
Here I am with Martinus who is modeling our fun, one-size-fit-all tank.
Martinus is awesome! And I thought the tank would be a fun addition to our gift bags this year. I was trying to mix it up since we already did tees and socks.
Here’s Jen, one of my oldest friends, manning the registration desk.
I can’t really describe how thankful I am for her help and friendship. She is truly one of the most important people in my life.
Also notice Erin, our sponsorship coordinator being a goof in the background. FitBloggin’ for SURE would not be continuing year after year without her help. Three years ago we joined forces to keep the conference afloat and I wouldn’t be able to do it without her!
This year I set up (and SOLD!) a few books on the side during the conference and it was so fun watching people page through Little Bean’s Funderwear Day!
The Welcome Mixer was a blast! Here I am leading a conga line to kick off one of our ice-breaker activities.
Seeing everyone interact and mingle is one of my favorite things to witness. As cheesy as it sounds, there’s just so much damn love in the room!
This shot took my breath away.
Another awesome shot…
Here’s Nathan on the Hearse Tour!
The next evening we not only kicked off Ignite Fitness (our keynote) with a flash mob…
Mission Meltdown BLEW ME AWAY with this song celebrating our 5th year!
Then Mom — MY MOM!! — took the stage and did an Ignite talk all about me!
I had NO IDEA this was planned. I’m assuming Kia and Jen were also behind it but I was overwhelmed to say the least.
I couldn’t believe she got up there!
I always have at least one good cry on someone’s shoulder at FitBloggin and this year it was with Kyra after that experience.
Oh! And Sarah, whose husband sent me the cutest email asking if I would surprise her with a birthday message from him and the kids.
That night was an emotional roller coaster for me as you can see.
Saturday night we assembled all the 5-time FitBloggin’ veterans we could find!
From back left across that’s Gail, Karen, My Mom, Sue (on the phone — she had to leave early) Thea and Denise. Front row is Carrie, me, and Jen. The only other person missing I know of was Steve who was stuck at a restaurant.
And finally Sunday morning I met and talked with Jeff Galloway who may be one of the most approachable easy to talk to people ever!
I know I sound like a blubbering idiot with all my crying and emotions when it comes to FitBloggin’ but in all honesty, I can’t believe how awesome everyone is who goes. It feels so good to have a hand in making so many people happy. Seeing all of them overcome their fears, push themselves out of their comfort zones and connect with each other is overwhelmingly emotional.
I’m such a sap I can’t event watch Sue’s Zumba session for more than 5 minutes without being brought to tears.
All I can say is, do your thing people.
You never know who you are inspiring.
