Those of you who have been reading for some time may know that Ryan changed my life forever in the most amazing ways possible.
I’m not sure I understood what love was before he came along. Ryan gave me a sense of purpose, a drive to live life to the fullest and an intense desire to be the best version of myself. I’ve learned and experienced so much in the past 9 years and he truly was and is the catalyst for it all.
I remember his first birthday like it was yesterday.
His second too! We celebrated with Big Simple Chocolate Cupcakes.
At 3 he was my little man and it BLOWS my mind that his little brother (not even imagined when this photo was taken) is already this old, too!
At 4 he participated in his first race with me.
During this time we started to become partners — click here to read one of my favorite posts called My Motivation Turn Workout Partner.
At 5 he really started to blossom into a little boy.
At 6 he became (and is) and AMAZING big brother. So kind and patient (most of the time).
Seven and an absolute a goof ball.
It’s hard to explain but those of you who have kids get it, I’m sure. It’s just so amazing to watch him grow up and become his own person.
When he turned 8 last year I took this photo of him and his Dad and it melts me every time I look at it.
The Husband and I joke all the time about ways in which he is like and unlike us. I see more of him in him and he sees more of me. Of course this is usually in reference to the traits we DON’T like about each other like wanting to eat crappy foods and dressing sloppily (I’ll let you guess who’s who in those examples.)
Today he turned 9 and I really couldn’t be more proud of him.
He finished the third grade with a stellar report card and worked hard for it. He’s kind, gentle and funny. We have an amazing relationship and I simply love spending time and talking with him.
Now don’t think it’s all wine and roses. Believe me he has his moments and so do I. There are times I want to wring his little neck! But as he grows up all I can do is influence him positively while letting him figure out the person he wants to become.
It’s really all we can do as parents, right?
Last night we hosted 3 additional boys and this photo pretty much sums up how it felt for me.
I didn’t document a traditional Sensational Sunday because there was a lot of this…
But it ended with this…
A short run before Game of Thrones.
I’m feeling super motivated and ready tackle this last week before FitBloggin‘!
Hope you had a great weekend!
