One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Sensational Sunday Saves Me Again

7 Comments 1770 views

If you’ve been reading for some time, you know my Sensational Sundays are all about forgetting (forgiving) myself for any and all indiscretions over the weekend, moving forward and setting the tone for the week.Side note: I posted the first one in 2007… TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN!

Crazy talk.

Anyway, I really have been feeling out of sorts lately. My schedule has been crazy, I’ve eaten out more in April than I’ve eaten in and my running has really suffered with this stupid hamstring injury.

I can’t lie…  my jeans are getting quite snug.

I actually contemplated hopping on the scale for a second but decided against it. It’s only going to tell me what I already know, and who needs some arbitrary number to bring them down even further? Another side note: After a long and drawn out discussion with myself I gave up my scale last year.

Instead of looking down, I move forward.

Today started with a run before the boys woke up.

It’s been awhile since I’ve started my day at home with a run. It was slow and ugly but I was out there and that’s all that matters.

I’m estimated it about 2.5 miles. For some reason my phone’s GPS is not working with any running programs so I can’t track. :(

Anyway, when I got back, the 8-Year-Old had just woken up and plopped himself in front of the TV. This was his reaction when I told him no TV until we did our chores.

He got over it then really got into tending our new container garden.

We planted the tomato, pepper, yellow squash, broccoli, cilantro, basil and mint plants we bought yesterday.

Breakfast was “Openmeal” (what we call this oatmeal dish) for the boys and an egg sandwich for me.

I used an egg, egg white, spinach, ham and put it on a sandwich thin with a squirt of ketchup.

After breakfast the 3-Year-Old and I hit a local trail.

We joined the Marshy Point Nature Center on a hunt for the Pink Lady’s Slipper, a rare wild orchid, and we found some!

We also found a new friend!

It was so fun!

When I got back I practiced my belay knots while the 8-Year-Old finished his chores.

We had a date at the rock-wall climbing place!

Before we left… lunch!

I had leftovers from yesterday’s BBQ, part of which is that Napa Cabbage Salad. I can’t wait to share it on GreenLiteBites!

Off to Earth Treks we went. I volunteered to belay for a small group of boys.

We had a blast!

Now if I could only find a climbing partner and an extra few hours so I could climb as well!

When we got home we found the husband slaving away on the landscaping.

We joined in and got lots of the mulching done. Then it was Lego time.

Someone wanted to build a house but was soon distracted by creating a “Flower Tower.”

So I finished it. :)

For dinner I grilled again. This time a bison burger on a sandwich thin with a side of grilled cauliflower, more of my cabbage salad and a small green salad.

It was a feast!

Afterwards I made lunch for the 3-Year-Old…

… and cleaned up. The boys were helping until they got distracted with a balloon fight.

Now I’m watching Game of Thrones and snacking on some fresh fruit.  I couldn’t have asked for a better start to what I’m planning to be a kick-ass week! Stay tuned for a new challenge tomorrow. I’ve got a doozy for you!

Hope you had a great weekend.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I have to tell you, eventough, i feel sorry because you are having a “difficult moment” with your “diet” or food plan or whatever you call that, I really apreciate your sincerity. I read other blogs, and they seem perfect every single post during weeks, and years! Something is missing to me.
When I read you, I feel identify with you many times. I am eager to know how you are you handling this particular moment. When you talk about “no feeling guilty” ” move on” “set the week tone” and questioning the search of perfection, it really helps me. Thank you Roni.

I just love that line “Instead of looking down, I move forward.”What a fantastic way to look at things. I’ve been floundering lately and kind of bummed that my wonky hormones are really playing havoc with my weight loss. But instead of looking down, I am moving forward!! Can’t wait for the cabbage recipe.
