I had so much fun hosting The One Week Eat IN Challenge with the American Heart Association that I’ve been wracking my brain for something else we could do together.
Then it hit me… steps!
You may have noticed I stopped talking about my Fitbit. I think it was early March when I stopped using it. I decided at that time it was doing more harm than good. The weather was miserable, my injured hamstring ended my #2014RunningStreak and I was simply unmotivated to hit the 10,000 step daily goal. Frankly, I was having a hard time even reaching half that and it was starting to get depressing.
Sometimes when something isn’t working you just have to change your focus. So I decided it was time to take a Fitbit break and I did, with NO guilt.
Well, the break has served its purpose because now I’m raring to go! I put my Fitbit on yesterday for the first time in months and BAM!
I killed it! And it felt great!
The week before I left for vacation I decided I would issue a 100,000-step challenge the Monday I got back. Then I did the math and realized we would have to average over 14,000 steps a day to reach 100,000 in a week.
I almost decided against it.
BUT… then I realized…
Challenges are supposed to be CHALLENGING! Right?
I think we can do this!!
Coincidentally when I was contemplating the challenge, Treadmill.
Funny enough they were reaching out to me to promote their challenge — which is pretty cool! Click here to check it out — I guess great minds think alike. :)
Roni’s #100kSteps Challenge Details

My day started today so my goal ends on Sunday the 11th. I realize not everyone will see this in time to start today so I’m building in two buffer days. You can run the challenge from this Tuesday through Monday or this Wednesday through Tuesday. Regardless, you only get only get 7 days to reach the goal.
Prizes: Gift gertificates… $100 Lululemon, $50 Athleta, $50 Nike and $50 Under Armour all thanks to Treadmill.com!
How to Enter: Simply leave a comment on this post letting me know you are accepting my insane challenge. I will be posting all week on my progress and you can share yours, too.
How to Win: Leave a comment on next Monday’s wrap-up post with your total step count (EVEN IF IT’S UNDER 100,000!) for the week by Tuesday at midnight. Be sure to include your best tip for upping your step count, aka how the heck you did it! Anyone over 100,000 will automatically be entered into the random drawing for the $50 Nike and $50 Under Armour gift certificates. The top 3 tips (even if you are under the 100,000 step goal) will be entered into a community vote for the $50 Athleta gift certificate. Note: The top 3 tips will be decided by myself and Treadmill.com. The tip that gets the most votes will win.
Finally, the $100 Lululemon gift certificate will be awarded to the person who most accurately guesses MY total step count at the end of the challenge. Click here and leave your guess by Wednesday — don’t worry no sign ups or anything just a comment on google plus. I wanted to keep them hidden from me so I can’t see the guesses until the end. It’s going to be so fun to see the entries post fact!
How to Stay Motivated: Use the #100kSteps hashtag on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram (I will be) and know that we are in this together. This one is going to be tough, that’s for sure, but I really think we can do it!
In addition to all this awesomeness Treadmill.com is offering a special discount to my readers.
