Weekend Quote: Schedule Your Priorities

Earlier this evening I shared this photo on Instagram.

Screen shot 2014-01-31 at 9.31.19 PMWe may have left the kitchen a mess but I got a home-cooked meal in the family before the soccer game!
We’ll clean later. #wycwyc #priorities

We already ate out once this week so I really wanted to cook dinner before we headed to the 8-year-old’s soccer game tonight. I also wanted to get my #2014RunStreak run. Plus I had to hit the bank and drop off some papers at the school.

My priorities: run, dinner, bank, errand, soccer game.

I was able to schedule all those priorities this evening but, as with everything in life, something had to give. Today that something was cleaning.

A few years ago someone asked how I stay organized because I appear to have it all together. My response was a long winded confession that may be one of the first times I articulated #wycwyc — click here read How I Stay “Organized” HA!

Four years later I would answer that question the same way, but I found this quote that sums up my thoughts pretty well.

The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities. — Stephen Covey

At the end of the day you have to decide what’s important to you and schedule it.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

It really takes looking at what is important. It is hard sometimes. I really believe wycwyc is really an entire life attitude.

This is such a good point. I have been using my schedule as an excuse not to exercise. There’s just no “good” time to do it. If it is a priority I will have to make a point to schedule it. As for the cleaning, that’s ALWAYS at the bottom of my list :)

Love the message!..it’s easy to say ‘i don’t have time for xyz’, but really it didn’t get done because it wasn’t made a priority.
