Hello from Fort Lauderdale!
Tomorrow Mom and I embark on our American Heart Association Cruise for Cause on the Ruby Princess — click here if you have no idea what I’m talking about.
I think I’m still in a state of disbelief. It’s like I’m on autopilot at this point. I have no idea what to expect and can’t even comprehend I’m getting the week to myself sailing to Grand Cayman, Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. I’m in uncharted territory again! And I can’t wait to see what cruising is like.
We set sail tomorrow but this morning started pretty typically. Little Bean “took my picture” with his kaleidoscope.
Nope. I have no idea where this influence is coming from. Not a clue. *hides camera behind back*
Bean has bean in rare form lately. He spent the morning charming Grandma and showing off his iPad skills.
… while I went to see my friends compete in the Baltimore open.
These woman (we called them “The Sara’s”) really inspired me today. The’ve been training hard and both of them made unbelievable progress over the past few months. I’m so proud of them and feel blessed I got to be a small part of this event.
After they lifted I raced home to finished packing.
The 8-year-old was unfazed by me leaving. He’s obsessed with three things: Skype, Minecraft and Roblox.
The Husband, exploiting my cruise vacation, shamed me into giving him a haircut before I left.
Why yes, that IS a finger he’s poking up through the cape.
Mom and I headed to the airport and shared a burrito in the terminal. Of course we had to photograph it first.
lol That cracks me up.
On the flight I decided to get a vodka-cran to kick off the week. I normally don’t drink but it sounded good at the time.
When we arrived in Fort Lauderdale we were greeted by the friendliest Princess Cruise folks ever!
They took us to the hotel where we had a reception with all the cruise’s “Special Guests.”
And one of those “Special Guests” was Bernie Kopell, aka Dr. Adam Bricker from “The Love Boat”!
He was hysterical!
We headed back to our room at 9 p.m. specifically to watch “The Walking Dead” only to discover we had no AMC!
So we headed down to the hotel gym so I could get in my mile.
The #2014RunStreak lives on even though I had to do it on a treadmill.
I really wanted to run outside but considering we didn’t get here until after dark and I have no idea of the area, I thought it was best I stay indoors until tomorrow. My plan is to hit the beach for a short run before we embark in the morning.
On the way back to the room, I tried to convince mom to take the stairs (we are on the 11th floor) but all she said was “You’re crazy.”
I said, “Yes, yes I am,” and headed up the stairs.
I really to do look for every possible #wycwyc moment and stairs are a big one for me. I can’t WAIT to see how many stories I hit on this cruise ship.
OK, must get to sleep. BIG day tomorrow!
Hope you had a great weekend!
