One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Waiting for Christmas

Anyone else feel like they’re in a state of suspended animation waiting for Christmas to arrive? It’s like I still have so many things left to do to prepare but I’m just not doing them. I think I may be in denial that it’s three days away.

It didn’t help that that I had a jam-packed weekend planned.

First there was Friday’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party — Click here if you missed the monstrosities we found on Amazon. We had a blast! It was so great having a houseful of friends for a few hours. I’m hoping to make it a yearly tradition.

Yesterday was The Husband’s birthday.

For the next 6 months I get to call him “Old Man” as I don’t turn 38 until July.

OMG I turn 38 in JULY!

Anyway, the  kids and I had fun making him a cake although the 2-year-old was more excited to eat it than bake it.

I arranged for a babysitter and took The Husband out for dinner and to see American Hustle. It was great! we both really enjoyed it.

This morning I made the kids pancakes before heading to the gym. They are now open on Sundays and I like to go in and work on my lifts.

When I got back I made myself a blueberry smoothie, which no one in the house liked but me.

In their defense it does come out a little tart when you use yogurt.

The rest of the morning was pretty low key. Someone wasn’t feeling all that great.

I made everyone English Muffin Pizzas for lunch. Then The Husband went shopping, the sick 2-year-old went for a nap, and the 8-year-old entertained himself, freeing me to get some work done.

I had so much time I was able to get my latest soup idea on GreenLiteBites: Sausage Potato Chard Soup

…and get a little work done on the #wycwyc book before someone woke up.

Since I had absolutely no motivation to do anything around the house, I decided it was too nice out not to go for a run. Plus I wanted to try out my new Armpocket i-30 Extreme Armband that Gail sent me for Christmas.

LOVED it. Stayed in place, easy to access my phone and is big enough to carry a key, ID and cash. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find a functional armband. YAY for no more bra storage or holding the phone!

The rest of the day was pretty low key. There were a lot of puzzles, laundry folding and Dora.

Right now I’m fighting some major Oreo cravings.

That's exactly how I feel, suspended, with so much to do and yet I can't seem to get much done! Ah the anticipation reminds me of being a little kid (except now I have presents to wrap, desserts to make, and cleaning to do!) Happy holidays...wishing you love and good eats and happiness! Reply
