… and they aren’t on a scale — they haven’t been on one in a month!

If you missed it last month I decided it was time for me to ditch the scale for good. I’m not going to get all into it again — click here to see the post.

If I’m being honest, I thought about digging it out of the basement maybe twice. But that’s not too bad for a previous daily weigher! I kind of like this new state I’m in. I have no idea how much I weigh and I don’t care. I’m active! Running when I can, weight training and really enjoying learning Olympic lifts. I’m staying active with the kids. I walk whenever I can. I eat when I’m hungry and try to focus on unprocessed stuff as much as possible. There are times I still struggle with mindless and nighttime snacking but that’s just something I will always have to work on being conscious about.

My biggest lesson learned after this month is: nothing has changed. Nothing. Well, besides the fast that I don’t have some silly number in my head.

The scale was once a powerful tool for me but I think recognizing its irrelevance at this point is a huge step in my maintenance journey.

That’s my story this week. How about you? Excited for Thanksgiving or fearing it?

Just remember it’s one stinking day. Have fun and move on. I’ll be back tomorrow with some photos from our Turkey Trot. PLEASE tag or send me photos if you are joining is. I’d love to see updates. I’ll post on Instagram as well. No idea what I’m talking about? Click here!

Seriously, I want to be you when I grow up. LOL I really want to reach that point some day, but it’s just so hard to ditch the scale when one is still in the weight loss part of the journey vs. maintenance. That being said, I’m definitely transitioning more away from the processed foods. I’ve switched over to the Simply Filling Technique (old Core plan) on Weight Watchers which has really been helping. Even after just a few days following this plan, I find my cravings for sweets and processed stuff is starting to diminish. I also love the freedom on not having to count points for every piece of food that crosses my lips. I can definitely see this becoming more of a lifestyle for me vs. the traditional WW plan.

I’ve decided to Weigh-In once a month (since I’m still in weight-loss mode) and the freedom has been … well, FREEING! I love not thinking about it daily (let’s be real, multiple times a day) and just focusing on what I’m *feeling*.

Everytime I get that itch to obsess over a number, I just think WickWick #WycWyc ! As long as I’m doing my best, I know I’m on the right track! :)

My scale broke about a month ago – SCARY because I’m still trying to lose roughly 140 pounds. But I haven’t gone out and bought another one. My trainer weighs me once a month. If ANYTHING, it’s made me have to trust the rest of the process… workout, eat healthy. It makes me SO nervous not to have that daily number and I might get another scale soon. But for now, I’m just learning to not be obsessive. :)

I am so excited for Thanksgiving! We are doing something completely new, exciting and totally non traditional. Taking the kids to Savannah and Hilton Head and spending the holiday exploring things on our own. Skipping the normal hustle and bustle, driving all over the state of Pennsylvania to eat all afternoon only to get back in the car and drive back. It will be nice to try something out of the normal, ordinary and make an interesting bunch of memories. I’ll catch up with the rest of my family in 3 weeks, and it won’t be like I just did it. I hear Cracker Barrel makes a mean Thanksgiving feast which will be appreciated when I don’t have to do the dishes! Yay! Have a great thanksgiving!!

I am hovering around 131.8, which is down 4 since the peak of my gaining over the last few months. This time last year I was back in my goal range, so there’s still work to be done. :)

We are finally moved into the house, and after a really bad day/night three days ago, I seem to be settling in better. Today is the first day I haven’t cried in weeks (though there are still many hours to go).

Good for you giving up the scale! Go by how your pants fit. If they start to get tight, reign it in! That’s what I do.

I still find it odd that a ‘I ditched the scale for good’ post week after week is the headline for ‘How was your weigh-in?’ solicitation from readers. This seems the same as writing an ‘Anti/I don’t exercise’ post and then asking readers to talk about what exercise accomplishments they had for the week. I think I need to just stop checking in on Wednesdays.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Roni!

Everyone is at a different point in the journey. It would be hypocritical for me to say the scale is useless. I don’t think I would have reached my goals without out. I also look at “weighing in” the same as “checking in” share your weight or don’t, it’s your choice.

Wednesday is just my day to reflect on the week and to give others a space to do the same.

Have a great Thanksgiving yourself! :)

we’re excited about Thanksgiving….going out to dinner so that will be fun! Weight the same from last week which is just what I want. Started holiday celebrating tonight and signed up for yoga tomorrow.
For me, I have to weigh at this point in maintenance….keeps me honest.
