I love me some Jennifer Lawrence and I wish I figured this out when I was her age.
Confidence is a beautiful thing.

Easy for her to say, she DOES look like an airbrushed model!
Doesn’t negate that it’s true.
In other interviews she also points out that almost all images of her are airbrushed. There’s no use feeling bad for failing to live up to Photoshop.
If I looked that good I would have said those words too. Pretty girls who are not overweight have a good self image. It is the rest of us that don’t. And it takes years to like ourselves enough to be able to say things like that. She is lucky she didn’t have to go through the negative crap first.
This is part of the problem. “Pretty” and “skinny” are all relative and someone like her could have easily let all the crap she was hearing from hollywood about having to lose weight and gone down an anorexic, dieting, black hole. Regardless of what she looks like she’s spreading a healthy message. We can knock her because of the way she looks or we can celebrate another woman who is trying to be the best she can be.
As someone who’s been too fat in some people’s eyes and too skinny in others, it’s a no win situation.
I am not knocking her. She looks great. I am glad she is spreading a positive message. My guess is she got to Hollywood because of how she does look. It is wishful thinking to believe people don’t judge others on how they look. I must say I wish I could have had that healthy of a self esteem at her age but I didn’t. Maybe her message will be heard and taken to heart by women young and old.
it is true, but coming from her it’s like she is calling all us overweight body conscious ones “dumb.”
I don’t think so. She’s calling the thoughts dumb. Smart people do dumb things all the time. ;)
