Food Find: Fuel for Fire: Fruit + Protein

8 Comments 1328 views

Hey guys! I had a few hours to myself this morning so I decided to get a little workout in at a CrossFit gym just a few blocks from the hotel. It’s called SolCity and they let me pop into their morning class.

They also had a really intriguing product for sale so I decided to pick up a few to review in a quick video this morning …

Please excuse the quality. Not that my other videos have high production values or anything but I recorded this one straight to YouTube. I’ve never done that before.

Let me know in the comments what you think about Fuel For Fire or if you tried them before. I really like the idea of a protein-filled fruit pouch. Great for snacking on the go, or dorm rooms, or office drawers. Places where keeping fresh foods aren’t really an option.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Hmm, sounds so much better than a gu. You’re right about the cinnamon. http://fuelforfire.com/our-fuel#sweet-potato-apple I’m thinking of ordering 6 of the sweet potato in time for the Turkey Trot!

I never got into gu either or any of the synthetic energy stuff. That’s why I love this fruit based option.

Curious what you used in marathon/training. I find that too much dried fruit upsets the stomach from the fiber. I like sport beans, but I’m not sure they’re any more “real” than gu. I can’t imagine eating fuel for fire during a long run.

Me? I didn’t use anything but if you remember my training ended a few weeks before my marathon. I only did 2-3 longer runs over 10+ miles. I just brought water with me.

I agree; gu… ew. But I’m definitely intrigued with these and will try. I really like to have quick, health go-to options.

I’ve seen the fruit puree things, and was really turned off by the packaging. I mean, hello I can throw an apple in my backpack and it doesn’t need a big plastic bag with a screw on top that’s one-time use. I also have small jam jars that are glass and hold about 2 ounces of protein powder or hot cocoa.

I hear you on the packaging but there are for some the fresh isn’t an option. And I’m pretty sure these were born as a baby food product. My 2 year old is still hesitant to take a bite of an apple but most will suck applesauce from a pouch.

We are a convenience society, I’m not sure that’s going to change anytime soon but I’m happy to see the convenience products are at least getting healthier.
