One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

A Fantabulous Sensational Sunday

This morning I thought I woke up before everyone, but walking past the 8-year-old’s room I found this.

The Rainbow Loom has taken over his life since getting it on Friday.

Then I headed downstairs to go out for a run and found this.

She has no shame.

I ran about 3.5 miles on a very foggy morning. It was such a great way to start the day.

When I got back the 8-year-old was making the 2-year-old a necklace.

And soon I found myself weaving a fishtail while listening to “What Does the Fox Say.

I had to put a stop to the madness and get the laundry going.

I decided to make a batch plain to use throughout the week while the kids had a Nerf/light saber battle.

Then I piled everyone in the car and we headed to some local trails.

There’s a fun tunnel on the trail we picked.

And we didn’t get far before the rock throwing began.

It was a beautiful November day.

And I’m glad I got these two out to enjoy it.

I got them home and made them lunch…

…before heading out to meet a friend. We had a date to try a new Vietnamese place in my neighborhood.

When I got home I kept the laundry going, made ANOTHER loom bracelet and started cooking.

In addition to the quinoa I wanted to roast some butternut squash for the week and make a cranberry apple compote for the pork chops I was making for dinner.

While everything cooked I gave The Husband a much needed haircut.

It’s a long story but I’ve been cutting his hair since college.

Soon my house was filled with the glorious smell of roasted squash.

I put the 8-year-old on folding duty and the 2-year-old entertained himself while I made the rest of dinner.

I pureed the squash. This stuff is liquid gold in my opinion.

Unfortunately no one else in my house agrees. But they all devoured the rest of dinner!

Even though everyone skipped the cranberries and squash.

(I don’t know what’s wrong with them either.)

After dinner it was jump and stand on mommy time.

Then we dance cleaned before watching one episode of Max & Ruby.

Our pre-bath and bed routine.

You know it was a fantabulous Sensational Sunday when my eyes are closing blogging this post.

I’ve got to go. I’m not going to make it.

Hope you had a great weekend!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. Ooooo! My partner doesn’t eat pumpkin (squash) either! I have no idea what the problem is… he won’t even let me plant them in our vege patch! I love to dice pumpkin and cook it with steel cut oats, cinnamon and a touch of honey/maple syrup. Delicious.

You make your Sundays look so fun! As it gets colder I get in the habit of watching too much tv with my kiddos. But your Sundays always inspire me to spend more quality time with them, so thanks!

Roni, can I just tell you I so enjoy reading your blog. You have got to be the most fun, and real blogger out there. Glad you had a great Sunday with your family. I love seeing that you guys always make this a dedicated family day even while getting in time to take care of yourself. Such a inspiration. Thank you for sharing!! (P.S. my kitty cat does that same lying on her back thing, I have had cats my whole life and never had one like this one who seems to prefer the “let it all hang out” position. lol )

Rainbow loom has taken over our lives too. So far, my daughter has probably made about 50 bracelets and necklaces. We all have a “customized set”. She is 9 yrs old and wears about 4 or 5 at a time…reminds me of the Madonna years and all those black plastic/rubber braclets…if she adds fingerless gloves, there is gonna be trouble….

Love your Sundays! They always inspire me to get more active and have more fun with the fam. Oh and we’re also obsessed with the Loom (and What Does the Fox Say). LOL.

`Sunday is my day to take it easy but I did start with a wonderful align/flow yoga class. Ahhhhh. Set the tone for a lovely brunch on the water and then dinner at home.

I really need to buy some squash. There’s kinds that I like, and I’ve made it myself before, but I’m still intimidated by it! I just think about how much time it takes and I immediately dismiss it.

I owe you a thank you! I’ve been following for a few years and was posting today and realized you helped me with my toddler! Thanks to you I let her help put away dishes and just today start loading the dishwasher as well. Thanks for the idea! (this is not related to this post- sorry!)
