These 10 Songs Make the Perfect 30-Minute Running Playlist

For this week’s Tuesday Top 10 I decided to share 10 of my favorite running songs.

10 of My Favorite Running Songs Make The Perfect 30 Minute Play List

This playlist is just under 30 minutes and makes the best (at least for me) running playllist when played in order

Here’s why…

1. Lose Yourself – Eminem

My favorite song to run to. It starts slow and gets you into a pace. It’s also long. At over 5 minutes it will carry you past the “let me just get out of the door feeling.”

“You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go”

2. I’m Not Like Everybody Else – The Kinks

It may sound pretentious but it keeps me going when I’m running.

“And I don’t want to ball about like everybody else,
And I don’t want to live my life like everybody else,
And I won’t say that I feel fine like everybody else”

3. I Know What I Am – Band of Skulls

“I’m Not Like Everybody Else” is a great lead into this song. It has a great beat and screams confidence to me.

“I know what I am,
They know what they are
So let me be”

4. Run (I’m a Natural Disaster) – Gnarls Barkley

At this point I’ve lost myself, boosted my ego and confidence it’s time to…

“Run Away!”

5. Jesus Walks – Kanye West

I’m not particularly religious nor a Kanye fan, but this song is one of my favorites to run to. Plus it has the best line ever for the middle of a run …

“The only thing I pray is that my feet don’t fail me now”

6. Whatever – Godsmack

You may not know this about me but I like heavy, angry music. Always have. And Godsmack is a college favorite of mine. Plus these three lines get me all pumped up …

“I’m doing the best that I can
I’m doing the best I ever did
Now go away!”

7. Bulldog – Tracy Bonham

I just like this song — actually I like this whole album — but this is best song to run to on it.

“Go to your momma, little chihuahua
Get back to your momma, little chihuahua”

8. I Don’t Care I Love It – New Music Masters

At this point I just need happy, fun, energizing music to keep me going and this one does it. The Husband thinks I’m crazy but this is one of my favorite more recent songs. I don’t care…

“I’m a ’90s bitch”

9. Blitzkreig Bop – Ramones

Ohh this run is wrapping up. All I have to say is …

“Hey ho, let’s go”

10.Go, Go, Go – The Backyardigans

At 1:17 in length and with lyrics like…

I’m out in front
I’ve got the speed
I love it when I’m in the lead
I gotta go, go, go, go, go
I gotta go, go, go
You can’t go fast if you go too slow
So go, go, go, go, go

We’re not in front
We’re close behind
But we’ll catch up, just give us time
We gotta go, go, go, go, go
We gotta go, go, go
You can’t go fast if you go too slow
So go, go, go, go, go

I’m in the back
I’m in the rear
I don’t give up, I never fear
I gotta go, go, go, go, go
I gotta go, go,go
You can’t go fast if you go too slow
So go, go, go, go, go

How do you not sprint the last minute? I mean really.

That Tracy Bonham album was my late teens. AMAZING. Navy Bean goes on quite a few of my running mixes.

Good mix dude. Good mix. :)

That is one eclectic playlist. Most people wouldn’t think to mix Eminem and the Backyardigans but I can see how it would work.

    Great sign :)
I’m a big fan of 80s remixes, AndrewWK (She is Beautiful) but my recent favorite is Coldplay’s Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.

I’m glad I found your blog recently…. And now after seeing this post, with Emineum, Godsmack and the Ramones on the same playlist, i now officially love you. And I’m in Baltimore area too (Rodgers forge). I hope to see you around at a local running event or something. Maybe I’ll get the courage to sign up for my first half soon!
