Weekend Quote: Scared to Death

13 Comments 1206 views

When I saw this quote I immediately smiled.

“Anything I’ve ever done that ultimately was worthwhile…initially scared me to death.” — Betty Bender

It perfectly describes my mindset lately. In every aspect of my life (professionally and personally) I’ve been embracing the fear and self-doubt I have and it’s helped me realize something.

That the little nagging voice, the inner-mean girl if you will, only starts to speak up when I am attempting something scary and out of my comfort zone. But it’s that scary thing that ultimately makes me stronger and more confident just by attempting it. I don’t even need to succeed. I just need to get over the fear and try.

That’s why I took the leap with live meetings. That’s why I signed up for the competition. That’s why I’m reaching out more and more. As soon as I start to hear inner mean girl and feel that tinge of fear…

I know it’s something I should do.

No.

I know it’s something I NEED to do.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

“That which does not kill us makes us stronger” – I don’t think anyone disagrees with Nietzsche on that. The bravery comes in when it’s not just circumstances that force you to make big changes – it’s merely a personal choice to stretch and grow. You are such an inspiration in that department! Something I really need to work on!

I agree! I need to really keep this in mind because I tend to let negative self-talk get to me and I avoid or back down from doing something that is so worth it but seems impossible or too damn hard!
