There are a few downsides to the media picking up the story of my stolen photos and one them is inaccuracies. Thankfully, most are small, nit-picky things, but I thought it was a good idea to clear them up now before they get published in even more places.
OK, here we go…
Fact: My last name is Noone with an “e” pronounced “Noon” as in afternoon but it’s not Noon as The Daily Mail reported.
Yes, I realize it also spells out “no one.” You aren’t the first to realize it. Believe me. Try teaching with the last name “Mrs. No One” or making dinner reservations. It gets a lot of chuckles and some people actually ask to see my ID when paying with a credit card because they don’t believe it.
Fact: I have 2 children.
Not that he realizes what’s happening but the 2-year-old may be upset to realize he doesn’t exist according to “The Daily Mail.”
Fact: I struggled with weight for 15 years, or should I say I struggled with a bad body image for that long. You can read more of my weight loss background story here.
I’ve been maintaining my loss for 7 years. That may be where “The Daily Mail” got the figure.
Fact: I’m not still working on my weight. I’m working on self acceptance.
That’s what I meant in my original post.
Fact: I did call them idiots.
Fact: I wasn’t shocked my images were stolen.
They are stolen all the time! It’s just that normally when I call the thieves out on it they remove them promptly. They don’t continue to use them in a massive Facebook ad campaign as this one did.
Fact: I did say, “I got happy, then I got skinny."
That is completely true but I wish they would have used my whole entire quote, which was more along the lines of, “I didn’t get skinny and then got happy. I got happy and then I got skinny.” Too many people have it backwards. I did for years.
Fact: I lost the weight in 2005 and 2006
Not last year as this video claims.
Fact: This is my favorite write up about the situation so far. :)
Fact: Furious is a strong word.
I was angry, yes, but as I said, this has happened before. I’m pretty used to it. I can honestly say now I’m kind of happy they used them because it’s enabled me to bring this issue some attention.
Overall, the press I’ve gotten has been positive. The other down side to getting this much attention is opening yourself up to even more opinions, but I’m getting kind of used to it.
Weight Loss Telesummit
I’ve been so distracted lately I haven’t had time to tell you I’m part of the Leave Obesity Behind Weight Loss Telesummit!
Robyn Bennett contacted me a few months ago asking if I’d give my insights about losing weight and keeping it off. At first I was hesitant as I wasn’t sure what her intentions where, but when she told me I’d be one of 23 “expert” interviews for a free telesummit I agreed. We had a fabulous phone interview and I’ve been waiting to share it with you for some time!
The telesummit actually started Aug. 1 and runs through the end of the month with new interviews being made available every few days. Mine is going live tomorrow so I wanted to share it beforehand.
That’s about it on this Friday afternoon. I hope you have a great weekend!
