One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

#RWRunSteak Lesson Learned!

20 Comments 2288 views

I can’t believe I did it! ESPECIALLY with FitBloggin‘ in the mix, but I did. I ran at least 1 mile every day since Memorial day. It was called the Summer #RWRunStreak and it was EXACTLY what I needed to get excited about running again.

According to Nike+ I ran 67.13 miles in 39 days.

Not bad, right?

Even though it’s not as creative as taking photos with my camera phone, I started to have fun trying to figure out how to squeeze in a run. It taught me quite a few things about myself, most important being…

I have “the time,” I just have to choose to use it to run.

… if I want to that is, and I do. I can’t express how much happier and well adjusted I feel when I’m this active. As cheesy as it sounds, I truly believe movement is nature’s antidepressant and stress reliever.

I think I may see how long I can keep this streak up. Who’s with me? Any other finishers out there? I know I had some walkers joining in. Let’s start a new streak for the month of July! Pick something (a walk, jog, a plank, 5 minutes of jump rope, ANYTHING) and commit to do it daily until July 31 by leaving a comment below. You know I’m going to check up on you!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

A cloudy start to our 4th of July prompts my sister and I to head to the beach in our running gear. Figuring we could start the c25k program on the boardwalk since it was not to sunny out and we wanted to be by the shore. The skies cleared up by the time we got to the beach. Our run was awesome! I haven’t run in ages and I remember how much I loved it. I think we are going to stick with it.

I really loved the commitment of the RWRunStreak. Since I’m relatively new to running, I’d never run every day before. There were days I know I wouldn’t have bothered but I didn’t want to break the streak. For now, I’m going to keep at the daily mile of running….more when I have time, just one if I don’t. Like you learned, I realized I always have time for just a mile. For me it’s 12 minutes. I always have twelve minutes.

Great post. 67.13 miles in 39 days is incredible! Way to go! Exercise is a definite stress reliever for me!

I’m in. At least one mile per day!! :)

Its the squats for me!! I run three times a week but my July challenge is 200 squats daily….the point being, like you said, you just have to choose to use your time the way you want!

I am in now that I have a sit down I need something to get me moving more. One mile a day walk/run.

I can’t do a single push-up to save my life so for the month of July I am going to attempt 1 push-up everyday until I can successfully finish one (and hopefully many more!) Baby steps!

I’ve been inspired by your one mile a day run and I’ve been walking 1 mile a day since July 1st. So far so good. Making a new habit to exercise is the hardest thing to do for me.

I am up for it, just started tweeting my journey of weigh loss and my first mini goal of 5k run for Race for Life. Not going to run non stop this time but going to try to run as much as I can… and now inspired by you too!! Many thanks

I am in! I commit to walking at least 30 minutes every day (I’d run, but I’m pregnant and am restricted to walking for now) for the month of July. A challenge is just what I needed. :-) Thanks for doing this!

taking on your one mile a day starting today!

Got my five days of walking in this week and need to keep it up until school starts–it is the only thing that helps me get the scale to go down–eating less points won’t do it alone.
Glad you made your goal–you do sound happy.

Too true Roni. I get bored easy and like to mix it up but there’s nothing more I love than putting on my headphones, blasting music and letting it take me with it. Glad you achieved the goal you set :D

I’m the same way. That’s why I like CrossFit, it’s never the same but I always enjoy a short run.

I would love to start, but with walking :) In January I weighed 286 pounds and I currently weigh 243 pounds!! I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!! Plus, I already walked 2 miles today with my husband and my folks :)

      July 5, 2013

Larissa, I’m with ya! I am not up to running, but I walk every day. I would always think I was such a slacker since I couldn’t run and I would see all these fit people out there. But, now when someone runs by me I think that we are not so different, just two people who are both making fitness and health a priority. I can’t compare my beginning with someone else’s middle! We all have to start somewhere! :-)

      July 5, 2013

We aren’t different! I walked almost 2 years before I started running. We all have to start somewhere and do what works for US!

    July 5, 2013

I am in for walking at least a mile or at least 1.6 kilometres (I am Canadian), I started before I even read this.

    July 7, 2013

Jumping in with a mile walk or run, and 60 second plank every day!

    July 7, 2013

I’m in! Started on July 5th and have walked/run at least a mile every day so far. Would love to do this every remaining day in July! Thanks Roni for doing this, I didn’t see the Runner’s World streak until it was almost over.
