One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Weekend Quote: Uncomfortable

9 Comments 1773 views

So much to tell you but I’m oh so tired.

I’m laying on my bed in a hostel in Toronto.

Wait. Did I just type that?

Wow. I did and it’s true! How freakin’ cool is that?

I have been severely pushing myself out of my comfort zone this weekend. First, I got on a very tiny plane — yikes — which took me to Toronto for a conference I feel l have no business being at. I navigated a city I don’t know, checked into a hostel for the first time ever, met a blog reader for lunch, and wondered around this cocktail party for a few hours where I knew NO ONE.

Not a soul.

“You have to be uncomfortable in order to be successful, in some ways. Because if you stay in your comfort zone, you would never do the things that you need to do.” -Lights

Well, according to Lights — who happens to be a Canadian pop star — I’m doing things right. I guess only time will tell. All I know is I’ve never made progress towards any goal without experience some discomfort.

Okay, sleepy time for me. Long day of conference sessions tomorrow!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Check your bed for bedbugs and don’t go barefoot.

    Hey Roni,
You have inspired me to step of out my comfort zone too. I went to an open house at a brand new Cross Fit place today. I signed up even though at 48, I was most obviously the oldest one there. I’m going back on Monday for what they are calling a foundations class. I am scared to death. Can you give me some hints on how CF works? How long will my workout be? An hour? I’m a marathoner so I’ve got endurance but not a bit of strength.

That’s AWESOME!!! Every gym is a little different. Mine runs an hour class and it’s split into 3 parts: warm up, strength training and the WOD (work out of the day) As a marathoner you are going to rock it and it will help immensely with increasing your strength! I can’t get over the progress I’ve made in 6 months.

Enjoy Toronto, it’s an awesome city. I miss not living close to there. I always enjoyed Toronto more then NYC, cleaner and more user friendly.
