Weekend Quote: Missing Happiness

9 Comments 100 views

Hey guys, I’m popping in real quick while the husband is sleeping to share this weekend’s quote.

It’s funny. I don’t normally set out to find a relevant quote to blog about, I just happen to come across one that makes sense for what’s going on at the time. This week it was this…

“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.” — William Feather

Now, of course this is easy for me to say at the moment because I’m on vacation stopping to enjoy some “happiness,” but I actually try to live most days like this. It’s why I let the kids laundry bomb and sit in the car dancing when we come home from running errands. It’s why I stay up too late waiting to spend some time with the husband. It’s why I stop on runs to take pictures or enjoy the sights. Honestly, it’s why I love snapping shots for Instagram.

Everything I post is something that made me smile in some way.

I don’t know about you but I’m keenly aware life is not only short but quick. I know my kids won’t be kids for ever, I’m aware I won’t be able to do the things I do now forever, like running, and frankly, I pray I get a chance to grow old with The Husband.

I’m trying to live my life in a way I won’t look back with regrets, even though I know I still will. I’m just hoping I’ll be able to at least say I did my best to stop and enjoy it.

That being said, I’m off to enjoy a run! :)

Yesterday The Husband and I did a little shopping and I got a great deal on those sneaks and matching top. I fell in love with them!

OK, guys, I have to go and enjoy some happiness — have a great weekend!

I really love that quote! Just what I needed this week. I weighed in on Wednesday but had an emotional breakdown after seeing the scale go up another 2lbs. Did I mention I was already at my all time highest weight the week before that? Anyhoo, I wish I could say I recovered quickly from it, but I’ve been wallowing in it still. The quote that’s been on my mind lately is “Comparison is the thief of joy”. Which I think fits in nicely with your post this morning because it just helped to hit the nail on the head today. Seeing you excited about those sneakers, and you should be they are adorable, made me miss being excited about working out. I’m not saying that I’m all better or fixed now but we are suppose to have a beautiful weekend in Austin. I plan on taking advantage of it. You’ve inspired me, as usual;-), to get out there and do something! Thank you Roni!

Ps: You’ve also made me realize that my husband and I haven’t had a vacay in over 2 1/2 years… I think we need to do something about that quick!

I really love this quote! What a good reminder! I am also a mom of two young boys and need to remember to enjoy them! It’s not all about keeping the house clean and getting everything checked off on my list. Just by reading your blog for a few months I can tell that you really do enjoy life, and that is awesome! BTW I so LOVE your blog. You are so inspirational and such a breath of fresh air. I really look forward to reading your blog everyday! LOVE your new running outfit, you look so good!

Wow, great quote! I really needed to hear that, because I so often don’t stop to smell the roses, as they say.

Thanks for this Roni :) I needed to hear it. I don’t have kids or big weight problems, but I am trying to build my life in a new city and finding it difficult. Time to let go of the fear and get out there to enjoy it all!

Roni, I’ve read your blog for a long time and I think this post is the best one yet. I truly enjoyed it! I have four young ones and a wonderful husband and I feel very “aware” all the time.

Hi Roni! Love your blog. Thanks for sharing this wonderful quote. It made me stop to think if I was guilty of the latter. I’m happy to say that on most days I’m very happy and very aware of the blessings in my life, but the minute I start focusing on the things that cause me angst, I start wishing my days away and that’s a big no-no. Thanks for the reminder to keep my focus on the right things :-)
