The Snoring Husband.
The Snoring Husband has been waking me up 2-3 times a night for weeks now and it’s starting to make me angry. Mostly because it’s tied to another bad habit he has. Ugh. I’m not going to get into it. Just makes me angry.
Hopped on the scale this morning and saw.
Up 0.2 — a Total Maintainer week, which makes perfect sense. I’ve been tracking on MFP, staying right around my calorie goals throughout the week, and taking a break from it on the weekends.
This strategy for maintaining has worked for me for some time. I don’t go hog wild and binge my way through the weekend. I just enjoy (WITHOUT GUILT) whatever I want.
This past Saturday I went out with friends and split the most amazing brownie a la mode with The Husband — which is a joke because he takes 2 bites and then I end up finishing the rest.
How he does that I’ll never understand.
Afterwards we went to a comedy club and I had a cream-based cocktail with creme de cacao. A-mazing!
We had a really good time.
Weekends like this may prevent me from sculpting some perfect Victoria Secret Model body but that’s not my goal. My goal is to simply maintain a healthy body weight while living a balanced life that includes, well, brownie a la mode and fun cocktails!
I used to think if I was ever “lucky enough” to lose the weight I’d look just like all the skinny models in magazines, but it’s not true. Now that I actually HAVE lost the weight let me tell you: I still have dimply thighs, flabby chicken wing arms and big calves.
I only bring this up because I know there are other women who assume once they hit some miracle number on the scale they’ll be strutting confidently along the shoreline in a bikini with the perfect bod.
I’m not saying it can’t happen, I’m just saying I wish I had a more realistic concept of weight loss and better body image back in my yo-yo dieting days because there’s freedom in making healthy choices with a different goal in mind than just “skinny.”
