Sorry I’m a little late this week. I jut dropped Little Bean off at daycare for the first time and it was rough. He’s been home with me for almost 21 months with just a sitter coming now and then. Then all of a sudden BAM! I drop this bomb on him. Needless to say, he didn’t take it well. Not at all.


I know we’ll both get over it and in the long run it’s good for us. A few days a week he’ll get to play and socialize and I’ll get to focus on a work. After all, FitBloggin‘ isn’t gonna plan itself!

Anyway, I didn’t mean to hijack this weeks weigh in post.

I got on the scale expecting to see a big gain. This weekend, albeit fun, was over-indulgent to the MAX. I may have rocked the Mudder but it didn’t make up for the constant stream of fried appetizers, burgers, cheesy sandwiches and alcohol I consumed from Saturday ’till Monday.

That’s a 3.6 lbs gain since last week.

Hey, it is what it is. I don’t regret a darn thing. I’m not even going to talk about it, analyze it, or worry about it. Moving on.

How did everyone else’s week go? Just a few weeks left in the year. No walking away until 2013 right? RIGHT? :)

    Roni, I really appreciate what you wrote today. I had a huge amount of food last night and “gained” almost four pounds! I seemed to need to eat a TON of food to celebrate recent successes!! I wonder if you might write about this sometime? It is really hard for me to handle this aspect of my character. I would like to find another way to be happy than to eat a ton of sugar. thanks for being here! And inspiring is exactly what you are.

      That’s not a real gain! You know that. Just keep trucking. As for eating to celebrate weight loss success, well that’s like buying something to celebrate paying off your credit card! Don’t do it! There are so many other ways to reward yourself. Make a list of your favorite things, pass times, activities. Call an old friend, discover a new book, take a bubble bath! Food is not the only way to pat yourself on the back.

    Um I don’t believe the scale. I have felt lighter that past couple days, when I look in mirror my belly seemed flatter, clothes fitting better…I did have a holiday party Friday with my company that was just too much fun! I didn’t indulge in the food aspect but I could have done better with the spirits. Eh…I have been slacking on the workout aspect though…so I will focus on that big time while the Mr. takes off today for a 16 day work trip across the pond… :(

    I had a revelation when I stepped on the scale today – I’m okay with the gain, and my goal through the holidays will be to ‘maintain’. And by maintain, I mean stay around the same weight, but I’m giving myself a couple pounds leeway +/-. Healthy choices are my priority, but I’m also going to enjoy the cookie exchange this weekend and the office lunch next week etc. Last year I lost weight over the holidays (I had started my journey at the end of October). I’m very close to goal now and realize that this is life and I’m going to enjoy these special occasions. So here’s to a healthy month and enjoying the special times that come. I am not walking away until 2013! I’m right here making good choices for me. And Roni, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the banner picture from the Tough Mudder – that is inspiration.

    I don’t even remember what my weight was last time, but I’ve been holding steady at about 151-152. It’s annoying, but not surprising because I’m not getting the exercise I need and between the newborn and the toddler my meals are on the go (and nutritionally terrible). Trying, trying, trying. This week I’m considering trying a green smoothie for the first time. Anyone here ever had one? :)

    I’ve been on track calorie-wise, but there has been too much junk food and not enough water in the equation. I am amazed that by (mostly) focusing on lots of veggies, low-fat diary, fiber, and vegetarian protein that I have lost 10 pounds since Oct. 1st. Although there were bumps in the road this week (hello, popcorn and gummy worms for dinner?), this is the longest I have gone without a major junk food fiasco in who knows how many years. I don’t know what is different this time, but I am trying not to focus on how long I’ve been doing well, but continue taking each day as it comes. I am wary of declaring victory, because I know that maintenance requires constant vigilance.

    I have been in and out of a funk. I got up early this morning and ran for 16 minutes before my husband had to leave for work – it felt good to just get up and DO something about it instead of worrying and analyzing. My back was kinda hurting too….which made me realize that I NEED some yoga/pilates. I’ve been thinking about joining a gym but couldn’t justify the high cost….but my health is worth more!

    way to go with your mudder!! looks very interesting, and that type of thing would be wonderful to do with friends.

    my cycle 3 of game on ended sunday and i was able to lose 17+ lbs! so now i’m on my own, attempting to follow the plan personally without the game attached to it. i honestly never thought i would see the 130′s again…but with this program i have changed the way i eat and live it’s a freaking miracle. i don’t stress this program for any other reason that i am amazed that it has worked and i’m the sort of person who loves to share what i’ve found works. i went to weigh in at weight watchers last week in an attempt to be accountable to someone other than myself (since the game is over) and was so happy when they told me i lost 8.2 since my last weigh in APRIL 1, 2011. that just goes to show you how much damage i had done since then and reversed the damage with the game over the past 3 months. if you feel like what you’re doing isn’t working, you should seriously look into the book, GAME ON! diet. it is lifechanging…and motivating. i feel like i’m healthier than i’ve ever been. : )

    Not writing with a weigh in – I’m expecting and hope to get on this band wagon summer 2013 after our little bean arrives.

    But I just wanted to write about your son’s daycare experience and give some positive support with your new daycare adventure. My daughter is a March 2011 baby as well and she has been in daycare since she was 14 weeks old. She is enrolled in a gem of a place and the teachers and care takers there love her and have become family.. She loves school, she literally runs into the building and can’t wait to be there. I’m amazed at how much she learns each day, she’ll come home saying colors and the sounds animals make. She can even say her abc’s – well up to G, but still she turned 21 months today so a pretty impressive feat. I think the world of daycare settings and hopefully your little bean adjusts quickly and you start to have drop offs where you just smile with glee at how happy he is, and how enriched his days are because of this setting.

    Its tough at first, albeit for me, at 14 weeks – she wasn’t making much fuss when I left, it was more about the fuss I made! He’ll be ok – he’s probably having a grand ole time right about now!

    I am here. I guess I could weigh in but after a rush to E.R on Sunday, having only fluids, electrolits and salts for 2 days and a colonoscopy yesterday, I am all out of whack. Totally bloated so I know the 3 lbs gain aren’t that. They’re just my body’s response to all the stress. And all the salt. Seriously, I woke up in the morning and could hardly open my eyes, they were so puffy. And I only got my ring off with sheer force and lots of soap (and pain). So I wanted to check in and let you know I am still here and I am still on it. Just need a bit to recover now.
    Happy birthday to me……… (it was monday and I was on fluids only – party on, dude!!)

    Ok my french fries and other processed food last week gave me +.2 not that much but I didn’t learn my lesson and have been eating Wild Rice Work crackers for 3 days. I am up 4 pds higher today than last week and unlikely to rebound by my Sat. weigh-in at WW. I do have the excuse it could be Lymphatic fluid built up but we all know it is salt from processed food. I never went over my points but I really need fresh over processed. I say that and I just came from the faculty room where parents made us lunch. I had a sandwich, potato chips, and two piece of candy (oh–fresh fruit!!) all not planned for but so enjoyed !! I know—holidays are coming and I need to get my head back in the game–I have 3 pds to my next goal and I can make it–just don’t know the date when.

Would have been interesting to see your body fat % this morning. Bet it was down, even though your weight was up. You’ve proven many times that a scale blip is not fatal, so I hope you can chalk the weekend up to worth every minute.

      ok, well you know that’s your “witching hour” so lets do something about it. Can you pop a bag of popcorn? keep carrot sticks on hand? Have some celery and cucumbers? Cup of hot tea? Don’t fight it, work with it. Sometimes you have to change your approach.

    I have been really diligent about my point tracking this week. This week has included more and more vegetables, water, and working out. Yesterday the scale said 149.6, but this morning had bounced back up to 150.4. Doesn’t matter because I’m still headed in the right direction. I have set a mini goal to be consistently under 150 for the rest of the month.

    Roni, I just love what you do here. You are so real. Thanks for sharing. I know it’s not easy to bring your child to daycare or school for the first time. Of course he will be fine, but that doesn’t make the emotions any easier. I sent my son to daycare one day a week for about a year because I work nights and needed at least one day to sleep a bit. He’s now in Kindergarten and still talks about it as if he were in full time daycare for years! He loved it, but I had a really hard time with it. Congratulations on the Tough Mudder. You’re awesome!!

    I am happy with my loss this week. It would have been bigger but for the chips and salsa last night at my fav restaurant but like you I am not going to dwell on it.

    Just FYI one of my friends at work is a WW lifer and she says they changed the program again on Sunday. Are you getting a lot of WW questions again?

    So I lost one pound of the two pounds I was up last week over the week before which, in turn, had been a two pound loss from the week before that. Just like Tigger: bouncety, bouncety, bouncety, bounce. I’d really like to be down two more pounds before Christmas. But that’s silly because I’ll just gain it back between Christmas and New Year’s. I just have to keep plugging away at it so all my exercise and food control muscles are in good shape when the New Year starts.

    I have been struggling a lot with eating too much. I have tried *so many different* ways to eat less, but overall, I am just eating too much. I feel like I am up and down on the last few pounds and I don’t feel at my best when I do that. Still working on consistency!

    This week I started my period so I really don’t pay attention to the scale. Traditionally I always gain water weight even when I was really skinny. So I am just posting so I don’t miss a week. This week I got on the treadmill for the first time since I ran my second half marathon this summer. I have been avoiding it. I did great, ran strong for 25 minutes. So my advice is to do that thing you are avoiding. It isn’t as bad as you think it will be. Good luck with the holiday parties

    Not really sure why the slight gain this week….I noticed it ticking upward but can’t really say why. Saturday was a little off food wise but i was very active. The rest of the week was a pretty solid week; I even ran 10K with just one small walk break on Friday. I’m frustrated because it all seems very, very slow this time around. But I’m soldiering on.

    Well, a loss of 0.8 isn’t a ton, but it’s a loss and I’m thankful.
    I am having a more difficult time during the Christmas season, but
    I pray that I can maintain my weight within a few pounds during December and
    then push hard in January.

    Thanks for posting this today. I needed to see your results but positive attitude to help me keep things in perspective. I started my day off at my endocrinologist “scolding” me because I gained 3 lbs since I saw her last week, and 10 lbs total over the course of a 2 yr period…that made me feel real good, especially since I am down more than 50 lbs. from my high. So much for focusing on the positive, right doc?? So for the first time, I will put my numbers out there:

    Stayed the same this week- think it was birthday and Thanksgiving catching up to me from the loss the week before. I’m ok with it. I’ve been using the My Fitness Pal App to track food this week. I really like how it breaks things down, but am wondering if it gives me too much leeway with how much I am eating.

      Food is 90% of the battle in my opinion. Working out is only icing on the cake. :)

    I am having a hard time, I am following the WW program I love it, but somewhere in the late afternoon – evening I start to eat/binge… I hope posting here will motivate me to lose those last 10kg. I have an intermediate goal: a KitchenAid when I reach 75kg. And I wanna be at goal in April and look my best on June 30th (metal festival with Iron Maiden, yeah!). Oh, and it would be great to get out of the 80′s before New Year!

    I had a 2 pound loss this week, Cutting the carbs and working out at the gym really helped.
    4 pounds to go!
    It is really hard with all the food temptations in the workroom!
    I am avoiding the workroom this week…out of sight…out of mind!

    I didn’t post until today because my WI day is Thursday… rejoined WW last week and am down 4.5 this first week which is great motivation! I know the first couple weeks show the big losses, but I feel so much better and will keep this momentum going!

    Stayed the same this past week, should be a “win” I didn’t have a great week, so I told myself I’d be happy to maintain, but you know how that goes, still always hoping for a miracle loss!! Hopefully I’ll see a good loss next week.
    Still in my “funk”. :( It’s better, but not gone. Still not completely sure what it’s about, but I’m pretty tired of it!!!
    Adjusted my goal weight down 5lbs for the high. Now that i’m close to the original high goal (135) I think I want to get down to @ least 130.

    I’m really happy with my progress this week! I know it’s only one pound but it really shows me that yes, I am actually losing weight, slooooowwwly but surely :) Also pretty happy considering there were two Christmas parties and a dinner out in there as well! That being said, I’m doing a bit of mindless snacking so I’ve got to keep and eye on that one…

    I have to agree about just doing the weigh in. I’m glad I did since I have gained 10 pounds (OMG!) since Thanksgiving! Wow! It made me start tracking again. Yowzers!

    10 months into maintenance. Whoot, Whoot. Averaging a little higher this week. 1 pound over goal rather than 1 pound under goal. This is okay. If I trend up any more, I will track my food.

    plans are in place for all known holiday eating and I’ll plan on the fly for any items that come up. That is right, Roni, no walking away.

    I weigh in on Wednesdays, mainly because you and your community are here doing the same. Yet, I just read and never comment. So here is my first weigh in. I’ve lost 45 pounds since August. Tonight, I had my first slice of pizza since that time. Feeling a bit guilty about it, but know it was the right thing to try to have a carb at least once in a while. Will be back next Wednesday!
