One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Weekend Quote: Travel

Ok, so I was planning on a different post tonight but I’m wiped! It’s 11:30 and I have an early flight to Tampa in the morning.

I haven’t been making a big deal about it. Partially because the husband has agreed to fly with me and he HATES is scared to death of flying, so I have been keeping it on the down low, and partially because I’m in total denial that I’m running my second Tough Mudder in 2 days.

I’m not prepared like I was for the first one. This past spring I trained specifically for it. I was running regularly. Posting videos. Pushing myself physically.

Now? Well, now I’m just barely holding on to a workout routine. My schedule seems to be in a state of transition. I can’t find my grove. Unfortunately, the Tough Mudder doesn’t care. It’s Sunday, rain or shine, ready or not, the show must go on.

I’m ready. Could I be more ready? Sure, but I’m ready enough. At this point I just want us to get there!

Speaking of.. we are staying some place totally new! Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida.

I’m proud of myself for using the Tough Mudder as an excuse to travel. Last night @NikSnacks tweeted this quote…

“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”

…and it totally made me smile. I don’t know when it happened but the travel bug has really bit me. I am dreaming of destinations and starting little savings accounts for special trips. I already have 2 planned and one is a doozy! You’ll have to keep an eye on TheUnworldlyTravelers. That’s where I’ll be posting all my travel adventures and such. Not that I need another blog or anything but my brain departmentalizes things like that. Now I have Food, Weight Loss/Fitness, and Travel. Yes, I am a big dork. No need to rub it in.

Ok, that’s all I have in me tonight. Just a chatty post. I still need to pack a little. Although, following my own light packing tips, I was able to get all my clothes for 3 days plus 2 workout outfits in this teeny tiny backpack…

How awesome is that!?

Ok, ok, no jokes about my pajamas. Those things are COM-FEEE. :)

Now, I really have to go. Our ride will be here in 6 hours! Yikes!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Sarasota/Siesta Key is where I live! The weather is really nice here right now – if you are choosing to eat on Siesta Key at all, go to SKOB – fresh, healthy options, and fairly priced – great beverage selection too! I wouldn’t eat anywhere else on the island (and I’m a local!) it’s just overpriced and the quality is really lacking.

Don’t miss Siesta Key beach – you MUST go, and don’t waste your time at Turtle beach!

If you really like seafood – leave the island and head to the main street area of downtown Sarasota, go to Barnacle Bills – freshest seafood around! And since you guys are HUGE Sushi fans… make sure you go to Yume Sushi (also on Main Street).

Enjoy the mudder – I’m envious! I had to pick between TM or Color Run, and I went with color :) I look forward to your pictures though!

Enjoy your vacay together – you’ll probably want to bring the fam back every year. I’m so excited you’re going to see my town and talk about it on your travel blog! Awesome!

Siesta Key is my favorite place in Florida! My grandparents lived there so growing up I’d go down at least 1-2x a year! Until my grandpa died this year I had continued to go down at least once a year, and plan to take my fiance and show him around some time in the near future! Enjoy! Be sure to catch a sunset at the beach!

Good luck on the mudder Roni!!! You’re tough, you’ll kill it!

The beach there is gorgeous. The softest white sand you will ever see and the MOST beautiful sunsets. Good luck!

Oh good luck Roni! I just watched video on the tough Mudder last year in Whistler, BC. (I’m in Canada) Oh man, I’d love to be able to do it! Of course,I couldn’t walk three blocks two months ago because I was so overweight. I have lost 25 pounds since then–but still. You’ll do your best. You’ll have fun, too! That’s what it’s about, right? Enjoy Florida.

I used to be pretty afraid of flying too. My husband basically put it as I’m scared enough to make other flyers scared. Has your husband tried Xanax or Ativan or any other anti-anxiety meds? I take some about 45 minutes before the flight and I’m pretty much fine.

He hasn’t but thanks for the suggestions. I’m going to research a bit for him.

I talked the family into going to Siesta Key Beach last time we were in Orlando. We visited friends in Sarasota and that beach was totally awesome. My DH still talks about it. Beautiful and the softest sand ever! Always like getting restaurant recommendations from the locals, too.
