Wednesday Weigh In: Holiday Blips

59 Comments 3944 views

Weigh in showed what I expected it to show.

Up 1.6.

Thank you Halloween Candy, you were a fun indulgence for a couple of days but I’ve had my fill and I’m moving on.

I think we would all do ourselves a service is we expect holiday blips. Embrace them even. What would life be without birthday cake, peanut butter cups and holiday cookies?

NO FUN if you ask me!

Just remember you can be successful at weight loss/maintenance without being perfect. The 80/20 rule concept does apply.

Now it’s time to face the scale, be accountable and move forward –regardless of what it’s reading is this week. And remember that. It’s just a reading not a measure of your success.

Weighing in again today after being MIA for 2 weeks during a loooong work trip to Berlin and Brussels. I am happy to report a small loss upon arriving back home – well, I have been home for 5 days now but didn’t weigh in untill this morning. Sooooo it appears that it just works – I watched what I ate, moved when I could and tried to make the best choices possible when dining out :)

Up another pound. That’s a 5 pound gain since I complete my 1/2 marathon in June. I’ve lost all motivation to workout/run/eat healthy. I have to figure this out now! I just might sign up with TNT for the spring/summer session again. I had a great time this year with them. Maybe that’s the motivation I need. . ? ?

Back at goal! I had a hard time with food this week, I have been HUNGRY. And eating the not so good things for me (CANDY). Last night didn’t help either, consumed lots and lots of wine and haven’t made time for my running. That will change today! Come hell or high water, I am running tonight.

I had a slight increase late last week, but really worked to stay within my calorie allotment on MFP over the weekend, including candy (just not ALL the candy…that was last year!) Also picked up the pace with my walking, adding 1 lb hand weights to increase the cardio. I’ve committed to a new personal fitness challenge to exercise 150 minutes/week (walking) for 8 weeks straight to earn an iPod Shuffle for myself after Jan 1st. Successfully completed week 1! Also, ♥ Hubby built me a shelf this weekend for my laptop for the treadmill so I can surf the interweb, catch up on missed tv shows & listen to iTunes while working out :)

That feels very surreal to be writing my CW at 158. I honestly cannot remember when I was last in the 150’s (I’m guessing it must have been high school). A good week, managed & tracked treats, stayed active and tracked food. Some other ‘personal’ factors helping to achieve that loss, but feeling really good. Here’s to a great week for everyone. And Roni, thanks for doing this. It really helps me with accountability, and I enjoy hearing about everyone else’s week as well.

Ok I don’t know where that weight loss came from–I did eat and movie well last week but that is a lot. I just hope it doesn’t come back to visit me this week. I lost 1.2 pounds since my last weigh in 2 weeks ago. I’m not sure I ever remember weighing in the 140s. I even enjoyed a little bit of Halloween candy here and there but journaled every bite. My goal for next week is to stay at 149. I always seem to bounce around for a few weeks when I hit a milestone like this. I have a good handle on things right now and there is no reason I can’t go into the marathon on 11/18 weighing exactly what I weigh today if not a tiny bit less.

I am very happy with my loss for the week. It was an up and down week–I had several indiscretions with Halloween candy (we never get trick-or-treaters so I am not sure who I am fooling buying the stuff). And then spent nearly three days holed up in the condo during and after Hurricane Sandy (we were fine, thank goodness), but I managed to eke out a good loss this week. I really think water has been the key–slurping on my water bottle gives me something to do when I’m in the mood to munch, and takes the edge of a growling tummy when I am trying to make better choices for dinner.

Thank you for being a glorious voice of truth in this world when it comes to food choices! I too believe there is an ebb and flow to our weight, and to our choices and we can still love ourselves right on through it. I really do believe 80/20 is such a refreshingly good approach to food and eating. If we can be honest with ourselves and do it without the guilt!

I’m a little surprised at this as I have had this big of a loss in a while. I’ve noticed that it takes me three months to lose what I used to lose in one month so I’m setting a goal to track EVERYTHING this week and see if I see another loss next week. I’ve also fallen off the workout band wagon but I’m completely apathetic about that right now :(

The same as last week, but I feel like my eating is under control, and I managed to squeeze in more workouts last week. So, I’ll just have to wait till momentum swings the pendulum back in the right direction. Speaking of swinging – have gotten into kettlebell workouts. Takes a bit to get the form right, but boy does it work in all the right places!

I had a pretty good week. I’m down 2lbs! Yay! Momentum is so important to me. Last week was a little better than the week before, and hoping this week is better than last. I did work out three times. Four times is my goal this week…and I’m headed out the door for a run after this :). My nutrition goals for the week: not binge/mindless snack when I get up to use the bathroom during the day (I sleep three days a week working nights and have a problem with grabbing random crap from the pantry when I wake up) and drinking 60-100oz of water a day.

Lost one pound this week which I am thrilled about. I did eat a few chocolate treats when I was really tired because the kids kept me up all night. But I put them away and haven’t had any since. I also stopped breast feeding so I was expecting a gain, so again thrilled. Back on track now that the company is gone. Got a bit sick last week that kept me out of the gym but I am determined to get back at it. I was at 165 about a month ago and gained 3 pounds back, so I am happy to be here again and refocus. I hate having to lose weight twice :)
Thanks Roni for having a weekly weigh in, it does help me focus.

I have really come to look forward to Wednesday Weigh ins, and I am surprising myself by actually posting and weighing in. This morning was rough. It started early, my daughter came shuffling in – can I snuggle with you ? Sure, I could feel my legs were sore from my workout yesterday, its cold here in NY, snuggling sounded perfect. When it was time to get up, I made my way into the bathroom and pulled out the scale. I have been working out alot and hard, and I think deep down I know my eating should be better. I was up .5, certainly not the end of the world. But immediately my whole body shifted into cranky franken mom. I got into shower, was running behind all of a sudden, snapped at the hubs, then ran around getting kids to where they needed to be. I arrived at work with a monster headache, no breakfast in my belly and feeling fat, tired, cranky all over. WHY would I do this to myself ? I snapped out of it, got a hot tea and some advil and the day improved. I just got off treadmill to try to make my sore legs feel less sore, and had an apple with pb. I go between ‘why do I torture myself like this’ and ‘why can’t I just figure this all out’. I have been commenting early in the day on Wed, but today I had to really think about what happened, and more importantly, what can I learn from it – because it is not something I want to repeat ! here goes..
