Pre-Thanksgiving Wednesday Weigh In

53 Comments 3671 views

Ok, so I’m stressing a little about the holiday. It’s 6:26AM Right now. My house is a mess, I still haven’t picked up my turkey (although it’s been ordered) and I have a shopping list a mile long, my bathrooms all need to be cleaned, dinner needs to be made tonight for 6 adults and 3 kids, and I have to start prepping for Thanksgiving tomorrow for 8 adults and 4 kids.

So last night I made todo lists for everyone.

And for some reason that made me feel better. Mostly because I was able to delegate a few things off my list and out of my head.

Overall everything is pretty minor, I just start to feel overwhelmed at the sheer amount of little things that I want done.

That’s another thing, I have to remind myself they are things I WANT done but don’t NEED to be done.

Know what I mean?

Anyway, I didn’t mean to hijack today’s weigh in post and I’m REAL curious to see who stops by to weigh in with us with the looming holiday. In my opinion, this is go time. This is when you decide to stick it out, make yourself accountable and move on. Weighing today and (more importantly) next week isn’t about being obsessed with the numbers or freaking out over a small holiday gain. It’s about reminding yourself you’re in this for the long haul. Remember there is no “states” to your diet anymore. Everything you eat is “on plan” don’t make certain foods off limits and then “break” your diet and give yourself permission to totally pig out because you’ll “start over” on Monday or Dec 1 or the New Year.

I’m so over the mindset.

Now, on to this weeks weigh in.

I’m down .4 and my Google Doc has been updated! (that was so much easier.)

My Less Processed choices and active mindset are slowly chipping away at the those last few pounds. I’ve been feeling fantastic lately and I can only assume it’s because I really stopped the mindless munching on junk after the kids go to bed. I mean, here and there I’ll have something small but it’s not the same. No more eating out of the triscuit box only to discover it’s empty (yikes!) or sending the husband out for Ben and Jerry runs.

Ok, I have to run, literally. I wanted to quish in 2 miles this morning before the craziness and then tomorrow is turkey trot day! My mom is scheduled for the walk and Ryan may actually attempt the 5k with me! We’ll see, I’ve learned to play everything by ear anymore.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Congrats on the continued success with your Less Processed eating, Roni! I appreciate hearing about it and also the reminder about everything being “on” plan. I don’t plan to take Thanksgiving “off”, just enjoy a reasonable sized home-cooked meal and one piece of pie then continue on my journey.

After last week’s (albeit tiny) gain, I was hoping for a bigger loss this week. But I am committed to posting a loss again next week, because I have a goal date in mind, and it isn’t going to change just because this is a holiday week. I’m making healthier versions of the desserts and just going to keep the portions small on the sides. I am running a 5 mile race the morning of Thanksgiving, too (not 5K, 5 MILES!) so between being conscious and running, I am planning on staying on track.

I’m down .6 this week, which makes me happy, even though I’d like it to be more. I am planning on a loss this coming week too. I have a goal date in mind that is 19 weeks away, and it isn’t moving. If I want to lose 17.6 lbs in 19 weeks, I can’t afford any weeks to be throwaways. I am running a 5 mile race that morning and making healthier desserts. As long as I watch the wine and keep the portions small, I think I will get there.

150 this morning. I am spending my holiday at Hershey Park! After the school day ends, I am heading home for a run. Tomorrow, I will get one in before we leave. And then I hope to use the treadmill at the hotel at least once. Turkey and chocolate are not the boss of me.

Great job on chipping away at those last few by staying away from processed foods! That’s what I was trying to do and am trying again. Marathon training….carbs… I just overwhelmed, but now that’s out of the way, I’m back on plan.

I did weigh in this morning. Good news is I’m about 1.5 down from what I was on last week. I am still about 3 pounds over goal. So time to keep chipping and keep drinking the water. I am anxious to get out and run, but I’m told to relax for the first week after marathon and maybe do something else, walking, biking, swimming. So I’ll work on that today.

I am here. I am staying here. I love sharing this with you and I am sticking with it as long as you will go on! :) I am down 2.2 this week, which is really fantastic news as I have been struggling really badly with my food and mood. It’s dark and cold here and I have had some issues with meaning of life, goals and stuff. Really deep things that threw me off a little. So I am really happy about this. I am also really proud that I went swimming last night and proud that I did my 1300 meters in spite of a cramp and an inner gremlin that kept trying to get me to take the easy way out. So I am thankful. Thankful that I found my way. Thankful that I give myself the space to sometimes have issues and deal with them and find my way out of a rut. I do it by myself which is sometimes hard but then motivation has to be found every day, right?? So now I have 1 1/2 week untill my birthday. Back to being the best me :)

This comes from years of kids and husband experience.

They do better if you tell them “what to do” instead of “what not to do” – “no whining” turns into “talk in your regular, nice voice”.

This philosophy is based on working with dogs.

One tells a dog what to do, not what not to do.

My husband said this makes life for men so much easier. They are not good at reading our minds or translating what we actually want.

I am here! I missed last week because my office computer does not like your website for some reason. I ended up missing my weigh-in this weekend because of the color run saturday, so last night after a group run, I went to way in. Down 2lbs!! Goal weight is 145, and right now I am 142.8, so happy about that. With all the running I have been doing, I haven been eating – A LOT! I don’t plan to worry about what I eat tomorrow, I will just enjoy the day and my family. Then it is back on track Friday :) It also helps that I will be running 20 miles in the next 4 days. Wishing your family a happy thanksgiving!

I missed posting last week because I was travelling for business. Which meant lots of sitting, interrupted only by eating, drinking, and sleeping. Scale was up a little when I got back, but I used the “long haul” mindset, got back to work, and I’m actually down a bit today. The other stat that’s changed is my age. I turn another year older today. This year I entered my second decade of running. I had a long run on Saturday, and am going on another today. Couldn’t have come close to that 10 yrs ago. Tomorrow I’m cooking for 9, and am tickled pink that I chose most of my recipes from WW magazine, simply because they looked like delicious healthy real-food things to eat. I have lots to celebrate and be thankful for this week!

Down 20.2 in the past fourteen weeks and I didn’t think it was possible. Since Aug. 2009 I have lost 147 pds. and I haven’t given up and that is really the most important thing keeping on the journey. This Thanksgiving I am thankful to have a job, home, and a wide choice of food to eat (because so many do not). So everyone have a safe, happy Thanksgiving!!

I’m a newbie! I will have been losing weight for three years at year-end. This is the fourth major weight loss period in my life and the longest. I’m very determined that it will be the last.

I’ve recently come off a four day binge – my first in three years – which shook my confidence a bit. I’m three pounds over my lowest in the three years but all I’m aiming for is to be below 145 again by my third year anniversary. So I’m coming out of the lurking closet to keep myself honest.

He is set to visit client in Russia and that makes me nervous and on way back to the states he is to stop in London to meet with a realtor. STRESS is not my friend!!!!!! But we have a Turkey Trot tomorrow and I have been doing so well running and training…but I use that excuse to eat/drink stupidly. On to better choices!! Had a good Thanksgiving week. Had a plan and stuck to it. Since I did not eat any trigger foods, I had a huge sense of relief wash over me Thurs night. I had no mental ” bargaining” going on in my head before, during, or after. Peace of mind to move onto other things in life. Awesomeness. Very thankful.

Im back! Last weekend we had one of my husbands brothers very suddenly pass away… and it threw us all out of orbit – emotionally and physically. I learned with all of the crazy schedule of the services, that I was literally craving some exercise. I think for my mind as much as my body! But this morning I got up, and went to gym, and went to work – felt good to be back in a routine. And while I realize I am almost a week behind, I did miss this!! So I weighed in this morning, and was down 1. Was good motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And if that doesnt do it, my brothers wedding this weekend will. Then I am going to sleep for two days !
