One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Wednesday Weigh In:
Less Process = Lower Number

Less Process = Lower Number

That’s about all I need to sum up this weeks weigh in. I tried my best to avoid processed food this week. If you’ve been following my food journals you’ve seen exactly what I was eating, a lot of vegetables, fruits, meats and nuts. I ate when hungry and had to get creative to avoid the processed filled pantry by making butternut squash fries or whipping up a soup for lunch with some beans and veggies.

The result after 6 days?

I’m down 2.2 lbs!

I think the biggest difference this challenge made for me was it’s effect on night time snacking. Most days I still had a small snack but it was air popped popcorn or a homemade oat and nut bar. No more mindless munching by grabbing a bag of chips or a box of crackers.

In other news, I’m off to the doctor this morning. I haven’t been able to shake this infection. :(

So I’m signing off for a bit. Can’t wait to see how your weeks went. Weigh in with me in the comments or just let me know how you’re feeling. Is anyone else doing the Unprocessed challenge?

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Up 1.5lbs this week :( to be honest I wasn’t trying that hard. Not getting the workouts in and not making healthy food choices. I would love to try unprocessed challenge.

I didn’t post the last two weeks because we were on vacation, I did weigh in and I stayed consistent and actually am down 2.2 pounds from three weeks ago, that’s better than gaining while on vacation!

Your results don’t surprise me a bit! Not only were you not eating any processed food, but as a result, you also weren’t eating any gluten. I lost 15 pounds when I stopped eating gluten without reducing my food intake. Now I find I have to eat less to make the scale go down. I have been hovering around the 130 mark with a real desire to get to 125-127. That being said, I’m starting to tire of denying myself and people are commenting that I shouldn’t try to lose any more weight. I don’t know how I feel about that, as I have always felt that it should be my decision. I’ve decided tot take a little break from the scale and if it goes down, so be it. But as to your comment about NEVER eating certain foods, if you had told me three years ago, I wouldn’t be eating any bread, I would have thought you were crazy!

I am happy with my weight as I recently made a re-commitment to lifting weights and I feel strong! I know the fat will come off as the muscle builds.
I try to eat mostly unprocessed, but I love to have a tortilla for a wrap, piece of bread, or Wheat Thins for lunch. I could never go totally unprocessed.
I hope the doctor has an answer for how you can feel better!

Technically 3rd gain in a row. I know I was doing better this week so I’ll be patient. 5 walks + 1 yoga class + veggie packed dishes + limited alcohol. But I am rushing through meals and need to SLOW down.
I like that the “unprocessed challenge” inspires so much creativity!

Thank you Roni very much for starting this weigh-in!! I don’t think I would have made it this far with out it.
I have trouble growing tissue on my calf of my left leg. After being in the hospital many days because of it I would not stop eating any food group–(every time I was in the hospital I was told to eat from all food groups)–like all things in life moderation. I am trying to lower my intake of processed foods. Also thank you for sharing you daily meals and recipes.

Whew, I had popped out of my groove and was bouncing around at a higher number earlier in the week. I get too busy to cook and eat a proper dinner, so I eat healthy but not enough after work. Then the nightime munchies hit, and although I don’t pig out on junk, every day turns into a carb overload. I have got to get some more stuff cooked ahead and stocked in the freezer!

I am so not suprised at all! I am trying really hard to not beat myself up over it but it’s hard. I am snacking way to much on the totally wrong foods. Less processed just hasn’t happened for me. Maybe this weigh in was my wakeup call, I stopped at the store on the way to work and bought a big bag of grapes so that I have better choices at work and on the hour commute home today. We move this weekend which will cut about 25 mins off my commute…and will also cut the stress level down significantly. Just keep swimming right?

First off, great job Roni :) It’s amazing how well you can do with eating less processed foods. I tried the clean eating thing for a while and did really well losing weight and felt great, but like you said it’s so hard to stick to it. Some days I just have either too much going on to cook or not a lot of time to cook and need something quick and easy. I do have some events coming up that I want to look my best for so I may do a weekly challenge like you did. I’m up from last week (same two pound cycle I’ve been in for a lllooonnnggg time). My eating wasn’t terribly bad over the last week, but my workouts have been hit and miss. Sick kid, sick hubby, school activities–you get the picture. My eating is great this week, but my workouts aren’t quite back on track (why is it so hard to get back into a routine once getting out of it!!). Anyways, hoping to turn it around the rest of the week. Thanks for another great post.

I am down 3 POUNDS from last week!!! Can you say ecstatic! I am technically 1.5lbs away from my initial goal (145) when I started this June 2011. Since then, I have decided to try and hit 140. When I set my original goal it seemed like I would never achieve it and now its so close I cant believe it. Thank you for your inspirational food journaling. I find myself munching on bites here and there throughout the day, a mini candy here, handful of cheez-its or chips. Once I can battle that, I know I can do so much more. I have also been trying to prepare my own less processed meals and I think it can make a huge difference!

Whew! I am so glad I went down this week! I weigh daily pretty much to keep me on track and it helps me to keep motivated. I was up almost all week. My husband has been home for the past couple of weeks where normally he travels during the week for work…When he is gone I’ll cook really light for dinner and will walk a ton just to have something to do and not stay in the house. But when he is home it is so hard for me to stay 100% focused. We exercise together still but I feel I have to make a ‘dinner’. So Sunday I told him I am cooking super light, like it or not. And we both lost this week!! :) I have been hovering 165 for a while and really cannot wait to see 160!! IT’S ON!!!!!!

Still heading in the right direction, though I think that I am just back to my starting weight for your weekly weigh-ins-ha! :) I have developed a pattern (or my scale has). I weigh in Wednesdays, and then by Friday I have dropped a little weight from that number. Then I hold steady through to the next Wednesday. Lather, rinse, repeat. But as long as I’m doing the right things, I’ll take it. Water intake has been great, and I’ve really cut down on the caffeine. Calories and activity have been in check for the entire week, which I am proud of.

I’m down 1.5 this week (yay me). I’ve been eating quite a bit of non-processed food. I really do think it was my monthly visitor that caused me to gain weight last week. Cooking more non-processed soups and meals and
taking leftovers for lunch has been great. I just need to plan for times when I don’t have a meal ready or when I have something to do right after work and don’t have time to cook.

I am doing unprocessed food also. I was not able to get to my goal weight but now, I am getting there.

I am surprised to see how I found it easy. The only thing is that I am cooking all the time. I allow flexibility and adapted this to my way of life.

I did not focus on clean eating this week (though I really loved the posts – thank you Roni!) and didn’t drop as much as I would have liked. However, today it has been 1 year since I started Weight Watchers on my own and I’ve lost 47 pounds total. When I started I don’t think I believed that I would stick with it this long or would ever lose (almost) 50 pounds. Now this process is routine for me and I LOVE it! I love the food I cook and the healthier choices I make. I love the exercise and how I know I’m doing something good for my body. I have confidence that I will get to my goal (either on the scale or my jeans size).

I lost 0.8 this week and I am thrilled. I had a family event and craving ran high this week due to Aunt Flo’s visit but I tracked everything I ate. Since my WW meeting is having an 8 week tracking challenge through Thanksgiving it gave me the motivation to keep my food journal accurate after Sunday where I used 68 PPs. The rest of the days I stayed with in my PPs range so that explains why I lost weight. Also starting bootcamp helped too! :)

I have often wondered how some have big gains (or losses) from week to week. I know how I did this. I was down 3 the week before and up 5 this week. Hopefully lesson learned. I’m on day two of being back on track. I know what works for me and I need to stick with it. Tracking, tracking, tracking. Portion control. Exercising. Healthy choices. I feel better when I’m making healthy choices. Period.

    I’m down this week :)
I’m feeling much more in control thanks to your weekly weigh-ins. Thanks Roni!

I am a bit late and checking in from Berlin, Germany, where I am currently for work. Have been doing well with food and exercise as much as I could and have no idea what I weigh :)

Up .04 in 2 weeks, but not too bad considering I was on vacation last week. I just tried to keep things in moderation & it appears I did okay. I wasn’t going to weigh in @ first because I was VERY afraid of what the scale would say, but I did it & it turned out pretty good. :) Thanks again Roni, as this is really helping me to stay accountable. I did several times think about you & the weigh in last week while I was on vacation. ;o)
Congrats on your loss & feel better soon!!

So its been a couple of weeks since I posted on here and frankly it was because I was too ashamed of myself (which I thought I had gotten beyond, but I guess there is still more work to do!). Over the past few months, I’ve been trying to eat a Primal/Paleo diet, mainly to manage autoimmune diseases that exist in my family. I love it, their bodies are healing, but I still have to have constraints. I tried just counting calories, but got to frustrated, so I’ve gone back to my comfort zone of counting Points, while incorporating this way of eating — with a few allowances — mainly Greek Yogurt. So, though I’m up since last time I’ve posted here, I’m down 2 this week . . . Yay!

Holding steady just below goal weight. One more week until 9 months. Much easier to stay at goal weight by eating paleo/primal. Really excited to see Roni having great results. More than just weight maintenance- health. Love it. :)

Really late with this post but I want to be accountable. I am up 2 pounds this week and 3 over all this month. I generally eat very healthy and clean but it in the last month my mother in-law has been here and it has been hard to eat my regular diet. I allowed sugar for the first time in 2 months, this month. Mostly because she was helping with the cooking and my daughters birthday. I just didn’t want to take away from her offering her treats to me and the kids. I am fine with that. I have to admit my stomach was bloated, I was gassy, you name it. She uses boxed food, which I rarely use and boy did my body notice. Anyway what is done is done, we had a lovely visit and I was happy for the help but back to regular eating now and getting back on track. Time to go off sugar and non processed again. Congrats Roni, you did a great job,

I’m a few days late because I had a pretty crazy week and quite frankly wasn’t ready to weigh in on weds. I felt pretty confident when I woke up this morning though and was ready to face my consequences, and lo and behold! I dropped from last week. A whole pound and a half! I am ecstatic and excited to keep the momentum going. I’ve had a rough couple weeks health wise so exercising has been quite the challenge but I’m getting it in somehow, even if it’s just walking here or there, and I guess it shows!

Really struggling – been on a healthy eating plan for 4 weeks now and have lost in total 1.2kg. Too slow but then I do feel better and clothes are loser…and been exercising again which is great:) It isn’t just about the scales, right?
