One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Oh Sandy, You Came and You Gave Without…

Not quite.

She took.

My power that is!

We’ve been powerless for about 4 hours now. In a way it’s nice to spend uninterrupted family time, but only if it doesn’t last all week!

Thankfully I have a gas stove and a gas fireplace, so we’ll survive. Unfortunately, we have no back up generator for the sump pump so The Husband has been manually dumping buckets of water out the back from the basement.

It’s been raining non-stop for at least 24 hours already and shows no signs of stopping. The winds have really picked the last few hours too.

Besides that, I had a great day! This morning the kids and I made some experimental Pumpkin, Oat and Seed bars.

Hopefully I’ll get the recipe up sometimes this week.

I also made a great steak and potato dinner all on the stove top and have actually been keeping up my food journal pretty well. I may have to put it on pause thought to save phone power at this point. We’ll see.

After dinner the kids put on a little Dance show for us.

Even The Husband joined in.

Right now he’s putting them up to bed and I’m looking forward to some cuddling by the fire. No TV. No computers. Nothing.

Nice right?

Ok, I’m off. I have to reserve as much battery power as possible. We may be in for a few black out days here.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Hope the storm isnt too damaging. Side note, I heard on tv today that after 4 hours you have to dump everything in the fridge to be safe…sucky. Hope you hadnt just been to the store!

It sounds lovely. Imagine what life would have been like before so much technology…sooo much slower. I am glad to hear all is safe, I have a special appreciation for you since I live in New Orleans! Take care! Love the pictures :)

Those experimental bars look so yummy. I do hope you share. I’ve not had much luck making good ones.

I hope you guys have power back on. My cousin lives in Columbia and didn’t have power for over a day. Fortunately they could stay with family to ride out the storm. I’ve been thinking of you and my fam n friends in MD.
