Up 1.8 lbs after FitBloggin. That’s 2 weeks in a row the scale has gone up.

I’m putting my note to self from yesterday into practice and just noticing. In the last 2 weeks I’ve gained 2.6 lbs and I know why; I’m stress eating at night –using food as way to stay awake when I really should be sleeping, my workouts ceased for FitBloggin with time being so tight, and for the past 2 days I’ve been battling the post event funk.

Thankfully I don’t get into the “Ohh F’it” mindset like I used to. In the past, a 2 week set back like this would have sent me down a path of binge eating junk food for at least a week. That is, until Sunday rolled around giving me permission to try and start a “perfect” week again.

Now I know there will never be a perfect week. I’ll never follow a diet (*cringe*) perfectly. I’ll never be able to stick to my workout schedule perfectly. I’ll never have the perfect body.

And all of that is OOOOOKKKKK.

I’m not in a race to perfection. I’m setting my sites on living a healthy balanced life and I’ve already succeeded regardless of what the scale says.

Ok, so that was my little pep talk to myself. How did you do this week?

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Maybe it’s just me but I’d be pretty dang proud of that. I mean look at all you had to do, arrange and such. I’d say be proud it wasn’t more, get back to it and keep rockin’ it! :-) You’re an inspiration to us all!

I honestly don’t get the gain this week. I truly don’t. I worked out like never before at FitBloggin’, ate healthy foods (and never too much of it) and basically had a great week. The only guess I can make is that the new workouts worked muscles I haven’t been using and that has caused me to retain some water in them. Because otherwise, I’m at a loss. And not in the way I want.
But it is what it is. I was mad about it Monday (when the scale was showing an even larger gain from the weekend), and I’m just trying to get my mind past it. That’s all I can do.

Coming back from letting bad habits creep back. Thankfully the scale is finally moving back in the right direction.

I am the right back where I was last week – 146.6, but up from my lowest at 141 in June. I have had an awful few weeks and am eating my feelings as well. I went to a football game this past thursday, weighed myself Sunday and was up to 150 even – I haven’t been in the 150’s in 6 months and I don’t want to go back. Got right back on track that day, and am back town to where I was. Assuming a lot of it was sodium, not real weight gain. The plan for this week was to run MWFS and bootcamp on Tuesday and Thursday – rest Sunday! So far, I am on track, and speaking of track, back to tracking for WW. It works, I need to remind myself that everytime I stop tracking the scale goes up.

Stayed the same this week with my usual up and down 2 LBS. I just like you will never be on a “Diet” again. I will always continue my healthy living and exercise and not get down on myself if I miss a day.

Really, maintaining with a no diet attitude is a great place to be and should be a goal for all of us! Total win!

I’ve lost 3 pounds this week and 12 since Roni started this challenge and 49 pounds total. I’m looking forward to hitting that 50 pound mark because I’ve never lost more than 50 in previous diets. I feel really good about the healthy way of eating I’m doing this time around and confident I will reach my goal. Thank you Roni for your blog, I just LOVE it.

I did some good things this week including 5 long walks and veggie-packed meals. And it just so happened that I didn’t eat out once. But I still did some stress eating with sweets, so I didn’t expect a loss, but I’ll take it! This week I am going to make my own cookies, store them in them in the freezer, and plan them into my day.

Happy to have a loss (-1) this week. Ate pretty well except one all out snack fest night, but tracked it ALL and didn’t let it derail me for the rest of the week. Going out of town for work tomorrow for two days with all meals provided, so know that I’ll have to be careful. Happy that I am 53 lbs lighter than a year ago (in October) when I travelled to these meetings!

I had another bad week and gained. I was feeling good so I attempted to step on the scale and it said bad things so I jumped off before it could settle. Now I am in a complete funk because I thought it would be good, hence even getting near the scale. I am just going to have a good day regardless and LEAVE THE SCALE ON THE FLOOR! We are not friends!

” the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

I like this quote. And I wish I had remembered it last week. Last week I stepped on the scale, and the number put me in a funk. So then I ate crappy (because THAT would help me?!?!?) And then I felt crappy.
Anyhow – if you feel good, that’s AWESOME! Isn’t that what we are all looking for? Don’t worry about the scale. It’s a number. Sometimes we need it. Other times we don’t. Right now, it doesn’t seems more like a detriment to you. So, for now, ignore it. Eat well, move well, and be well. Eventually, you and the scale can get back in touch, but if it’s causing you grief, let it alone for now.
Have a great day, Rachel. And then have another tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after after….

Also I just ordered my own scale from Amazon…hopefully will get a more accurate read. I have been using a coworker’s scale she keeps here in the office, but it’s one of the old fashioned ones with the dial instead of digital…really hard to read and I’m not sure how accurate it is!

As promised, a weigh-in after skipping 2-3 weeks. Up a little (less than a pound), but on its way back down. Being so close to goal makes it frustrating that the scale barely moves on a day-to-day basis. I will not lose more than half a pound or so in any given week, no matter what I do, so I have to focus and keep stringing together healthy, active days and trust the process. I am at 10 days in a row with sticking to planned meals and measured snacks, plus my regular walks.

After my big 4.4 loss last week that I knew was too good to be true, I was up 3.4 this week, but I netted a pound in the last two weeks. I am struggling with snacking. I just seem so hungry and tired all the time. I think part of it is emotional eating, as I only have 1.5 weeks left of maternity leave and then I have to go back to work and leave my baby at daycare :( I am focusing on water and planning snacks into my day for next week.

I’m managing to stick right at the 152 mark – 2 lb over goal but I’m happy that I’m stable while living in the mode where I try to eat healthy but don’t track points. About 10 yrs ago, I got on a system that works for me. I give myself a margin of error, and if I go above that I head back to strict WW land. I started with a big margin – 10 lb – but now I try to stop the pendulum before it swings quite that high! My goal for this year is to NOT put on weight between now and Dec. 31. Or at least not as much as I usually do!

timely, so very timely! And, this is something i too have learned over the years. I’m about halfway to my “i think this is where i want to be goal” but this mindset is huge for me, and it’s the one thing that I know will help me to succeed this time – I’m getting to x weight or x size by… it’s all about being healthy and the healthier I am, the closer i will get to my goal.
I “officiall” weigh on Fridays; but i’m a daily weigher because i want to see how it fluctuates, not just on the official day. last week, nearly “perfect” week by my standards, down .5 overall (but all week i had been down 1.5 because i’m daily weigher) this week, on my daily weigh i’m down 1.5. it’s frustrating when my official day is “up” from the daily weighs but when all the other days are down, i know that’s a fluctuation due to the many factors of being a women.
my husband thinks that’s crazy – i told him, just be glad your not a girl :-)
Have a great day everyone and Roni, congrats on a great Fit Bloggin, congrats for knowing yourself and making progress without being perfect, and cheers to getting back to the “perfect” lifestyle that you know and love. thanks again for your honesty and candid sharing – that’s what makes you great!

Thankfully, I guess the regular workouts have helped my metabolism a bit, so I didn’t gain what I once would have gained. But still, I need to cut the crap. Still faithfully loggin’ my food daily online (MFP for 119 days). Just started working out with a HRM for the first time this week! It was my “15 lbs lost” gift to myself. Decided to stick with walking and, dare I say it…enjoyed the workouts. I’m in the zone, sticking with it longer, and feel great after. Such a difference from the old me saying, “I’ll-start-an-intense-workout-routine-Monday-and-when-I-miss-a-workout-and-give-up-by-Thursday,-I’ll-start-again-NEXT-Monday.” (Sound familiar anyone??) I didn’t weigh in last week. We went to Disney for 8 glorious days! My souvenir from the trip……3 pounds. Too many Mickey Head Ice Cream snacks, but they were delicious. I wore my pedometer and I walked over 10 miles each day bu my food choices were poor though. Hopefully these 3 pounds will come off as quickly as they went on.

I am back to eating right and I am going back to WW tomorrow. I am needing some support right now! Time to get my head back in the game.

Back from FitBloggin’ and I was very happy to see this number. I’m battling some tough stuff right now. I have no complaints about being under 150 and being able to maintain without any real effort on my part. But that being said, I would still like to take off a few more. The knee is SCREAMING at me to do so. We’ll see.

I didn’t weigh in last week. We were at Disney for a 8 day family vacation. The souvenir I brought back was 3 pounds! I guess too many ice cream Mickey Heads and poor food choices are to blame. I did wear my pedometer and we walked over 10 miles a day. We had a wonderful time and hopefully the 3 pounds will come off as quickly as they went on.

I am back to eating right and tomorrow I am going back to my WW meetings. I really need the support right now. I am just trying to get my head back in the game!

In order to stay on tack I am checking in. It’s 5.40 pm in my part of the world and I just got off the plane from Oslo, Norway, where I have been since sunday. So I haven’t weighed in but that’s ok.

My food wasn’t stellar – it was a seminar with catering. But It’s fine. I made good choices when I could and enjoyed the good food and fantastic company. I did take along some walk dvd’s and I actually managed to squeeze in 3 workouts as well as two really long walks outside, so I managed to work up a lot of calories. On the whole I am proud of the way I tackled the whole time.

Will be weighing in again next week :)

I am still off sugar but I have to step up the workouts. I lost about 24 pounds with running and then 6 pounds with cutting out sugar. Now I have to combine the two to get rid of the last 10 pounds. Got my gym membership renewed because it is cold up here… Alaska! so I am ready to start the next month with moving and eating better. Good work everyone

OK, doing this for the first time! Need some extra motivation as I’ve just been in a rut lately and really want to restart my loss and get to goal. I’m eating a lot of processed food these past couple weeks and not maintaining my workout schedule. Back to basics for me!!!

I have started running again, which is hard because I can see how much progress I have lost in my 2 month “break.” I will get there again, though. I have been losing for about a month now – down 4 pounds – but my period is due this weekend and I will have to endure the crushing PMS followed the bloat-fest. ugh.

Down 1.5 in 2weeks. Progress has been very slow over all. It’s taken me 2yrs to get to this point. Mainly because I haven’t approached my weight loss as a diet. An additional 9.5lb seems like it’ll take forever. Training right now for half marathons doesn’t help my hunger either. Just gonna stay positive and make healthy choices! But man I could really go for a bowl of cereal right now :)

This is my first official Wednesday weigh …today is my re commitment day. I have gained and lost and gained and lost etc etc etc. It is super pathetic. I am re committing to exercise. I was working out 6 days a week before being diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma that required 3 surgeries over 3 months hence no working out…oh and I quit smoking and have been smoke free since 12/31/11. So I have a lot of catching up. One day at a time. Focusing on work outs, cooking and eating meals in and portions.

I am committing to posting on Wednesdays with the rest of you. I can do this!

I was thrilled to see this number this morning as I’ve been plateaued around 172.4-173 for almost 8 weeks now! Who knows if it is even “real”, but I’ll take the 0.6lb down! I probably won’t join you guys weekly but I had to share this week!

I am a longtime reader and have to say that I am *thoroughly* enjoying this journey. I lose slowly, but over the past 5 years I’ve never regained–I’m always either maintaining or losing. That’s because I’ve focused on health first, and making sustainable long-term changes. Roni, thanks for helping me understand the importance of that mindset!

PS I’m not really focused on weight loss right now because I’m focused on performance– training for my first powerlifting meet! If any readers have considered weight lifting I’d say-give it a go, you might really enjoy it like I do!

RONI! This is your fault (in a good way, of course) and I can’t believe I’m doing this AT ALL!!! I’ve been blogging pretty much daily over at BTL for a while now and I am one of those ‘anti-scalers’. I lost my initial chunk of weight with no scale. I refused to use it for a year. I had a personal trainer for a while and he would weigh me and not tell me. Then around last December my weight loss slowed down/stopped. The great thing is that I’ve had no trouble maintaining so I see this year (almost) of maintenance as practice! About 6 months ago I broke down and bought a scale but still never used it regularly. I’ve joined the WIW group because I’m always open to new things and maybe, just maybe, it will make a difference. To be perfectly honest, I think BTL is one of the top, top reasons I’ve been able to maintain and keep at my journey for this long. I have you to thank for that AND, now, WIW.!!!

weighed yesterday but forgot to post. It’s been hectic. I am maintaining. No gain but no loss either. I can’t beat myself up. My life is so hectic ~ teach all day plus tons of other responsibilities outside the classroom, kids, husband, and I am pursuing a doctorate. I’m up at 5:00 am and at work by 6:30 am. Home around 5:00 pm. Homework and family stuff until 9:00 pm. Fall into bed, repeat. I’ve been eating really well for breakfast. I always pack a healthy lunch but sometimes with the stress of the day, I will go to the snackbar and get something not so healthy. I have a healthy snack (usually) in the afternoon. I cook healthy foods for dinner but we tend to eat out a lot. all things considered, I am not unhappy about not losing. I just need to carve out 30 minutes for exercise Monday – Thursday and then an hour on Saturday.

after pity-party eating over a couple days (because of a back injury), i thought i’d gain for the second week in a row – but, happily, i didn’t. my weight is back to where it was two weeks ago. i stopped that unhealthy eating and am getting rid of the pity, too. also did a lot more walking to build up my strength and speed and hope to be jogging again next week with my doctor’s approval. almost there!

as someone mentioned before, think i need to get a different scale – a digital one – and not use my old needle-and-dial scale. hope that helps, too.

I did well with my eating, better than I’ve been doing, but the scale did not cooperate. It just went up. Finally today–down a pound–to 154.6. My goal weight was 160, which I hit 17 months ago (a lose of 175 lbs.!), but I went on to lose another 20 pounds, getting as low as 139.2 in late October a year ago. Then Thanksgiving hit and Christmas and I have not been able to take off those pounds, and even though I’m still technically below my goal, I’m not happy. I want to weigh 145–that’s a healthy BMI and it makes me happy. I walk, I eat right (most of the time), and the scale won’t budge. Very frustrating!

      RoniNoone

      September 28, 2012

I’m kind of in the same situation. It’s so much harder to lose those last few extra pounds that you don’t NEED to lose but WANT to lose. Pat yourself on the back for maintaining, you are rocking that! And remember you have to cut back a little more if you really want to lose a bit extra.
